ਜੇ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਸ ਰਖਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਈ ॥
jē man chit ās rakhah har ūpar tā man chindē anēk anēk phal pāī .
If, in his conscious mind, he places his hopes in the Lord, then he shall obtain the fruits of all the many desires of his mind.
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜੋ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥
aisā har sēvīai nit dhiāīai jō khin mah kilavikh sabh karē bināsā .
Serve such a Lord, and ever meditate on Him, who in an instant erases all sins and mistakes.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
har simarat sadā hōi anand sukh antar sānht sītal man apanā .
Remembering the Lord in meditation, you shall find bliss and peace forever deep within, and your mind will become tranquil and cool.
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਹ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਸਿਕਦਾਰ ਚਉਧਰੀ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਝੂਠੁ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
jitanē sāh pātisāh umarāv sikadār chaudharī sabh mithiā jhūth bhāu dūjā jān .
All the kings, emperors, nobles, lords and chiefs are false and transitory, engrossed in duality - know this well.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਭਤੈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਕਰਈਐ ॥
har antarajāmī sabhatai varatai jēhā har karāē tēhā kō karaīai .
The Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is all-pervading. As the Lord causes them to act, so do they act.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਤਪਤੈ ਜਿਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਵੰਤੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਰ ॥੧॥
har darasan kau mērā man bah tapatai jiu trikhāvant bin nīr .1.
My mind yearns so deeply for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, like the thirsty man without water. ||1||
ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਭੁਗਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh karatā sabh bhugatā .1. rahāu .
He is the Creator of all, He is the Enjoyer of all. ||1||Pause||
ਫਾਕਿਓ ਮੀਨ ਕਪਿਕ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਤੂ ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਕਸੁੰਭਾਇਲੇ ॥
phākiō mīn kapik kī niāī tū urajh rahiō kasunbhāilē .
You are caught, like the fish and the monkey; you are entangled in the transitory world.
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿ ॥
jī prān kīē jin sāj .
He fashioned the soul and the breath of life,
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
nām sang kīnō biuhār .
I trade in the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਦੇਤੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
nimānē kau jō dētō mān .
He grants honor to the dishonored,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ॥
jā kai sang ih man niramal .
Associating with them, this mind becomes immaculate and pure.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
gur kī mūrat man mah dhiān .
Meditate on the image of the Guru within your mind;
ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੋਰ ॥
gurū gurū gur kar man mōr .
Chant Guru, Guru, Guru, O my mind.
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥
gur mērī pūjā gur gōbind .
I worship and adore my Guru; the Guru is the Lord of the Universe.
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
rām rām sang kar biuhār .
Deal and trade only with the Lord, Raam, Raam.
ਉਨ ਕਉ ਖਸਮਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਠਾਕਹਾਰੇ ॥
un kau khasam kīnī thākahārē .
My Lord and Master has held back the five demons.
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
kal kalēs mitē har nāi .
Suffering and troubles are eradicated by the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿ ॥
gur kē charan kamal namasakār .
Bow in humility to the lotus feet of the Guru.
ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
dhūp dīp sēvā gōpāl .
My incense and lamps are my service to the Lord.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੁਖ ਅਨਦ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
kar kirapā sukh anad karēi .
In His Mercy, He has blessed me with peace and bliss.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥
har har nām japah mērē mīt .
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my friend.
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ॥
bhav sāgar bōhith har charan .
The Lord's Feet are the boat to cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਲੀਆ ਧਰਤਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਉ ॥
sant kā līā dharat bidārau .
One who is cursed by the Saints, is thrown down on the ground.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥
nām niranjan nīr narāin .
The Name of the Immaculate Lord is the Ambrosial Water.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
jā kau rākhai rākhanahār .
One who is protected by the Protector Lord
ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੂਪ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
acharaj kathā mahā anūp . prātamā pārabraham kā rūp . rahāu .
Wondrous and beautiful is the description of the beauty of the Supreme Soul, the Supreme Lord God. ||Pause||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
santan kai balihārai jāu .
I am a sacrifice to the Saints.
ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
kar namasakār pūrē guradēv .
Humbly bow to the Perfect Divine Guru.
ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
sant milai kish sunīai kahīai .
When you meet a Saint, talk to him and listen.
ਨਰੂ ਮਰੈ ਨਰੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
narū marai nar kām n āvai .
When a man dies, he is of no use to anyone.
ਆਕਾਸਿ ਗਗਨੁ ਪਾਤਾਲਿ ਗਗਨੁ ਹੈ ਚਹੁ ਦਿਸਿ ਗਗਨੁ ਰਹਾਇਲੇ ॥
ākās gagan pātāl gagan hai chah dis gagan rahāilē .
The Celestial Lord is in the Akaashic ethers of the skies, the Celestial Lord is in the nether regions of the underworld; in the four directions, the Celestial Lord is pervading.
ਭੁਜਾ ਬਾਂਧਿ ਭਿਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ॥
bhujā bānhdh bhilā kar dāriō .
They tied my arms, bundled me up, and threw me before an elephant.
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਾਨਸੁ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਦੇਉ ॥
nā ih mānas nā ih dēu .
It is not human, and it is not a god.
ਤੂਟੇ ਤਾਗੇ ਨਿਖੁਟੀ ਪਾਨਿ ॥
tūtē tāgē nikhutī pān .
The threads are broken, and the starch has run out.
ਖਸਮੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਉ ਨਾਰਿ ਨ ਰੋਵੈ ॥
khasam marai tau nār n rōvai .
When her husband dies, the woman does not cry.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰੇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
grih sōbhā jā kai rē nāh .
When someone's household has no glory,
ਜੈਸੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਲਹਰ ਨਾ ਠਾਹਰੈ ॥
jaisē mandar mah balahar nā thāharai .
As the house will not stand when the supporting beams are removed from within it,
ਕੂਟਨੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੂਟੈ ॥
kūtan sōi j man kau kūtai .
He alone is a pimp, who pounds down his mind.
ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
dhann gupāl dhann guradēv .
Blessed is the Lord of the World. Blessed is the Divine Guru.
ਅਸੁਮੇਧ ਜਗਨੇ ॥
asumēdh jaganē .
The ritual sacrifice of horses,
ਨਾਦ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਿਰਗਾਏ ॥
nād bhramē jaisē miragāē .
The deer is lured by the sound of the hunter's bell;
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਤਾਰਿ ਲੇ ਰਾਮਾ ਤਾਰਿ ਲੇ ॥
mō kau tār lē rāmā tār lē .
Carry me across, O Lord, carry me across.
ਮੋਹਿ ਲਾਗਤੀ ਤਾਲਾਬੇਲੀ ॥
mōh lāgatī tālābēlī .
I am restless and unhappy.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
har har karat mitē sabh bharamā .
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, all doubts are dispelled.
ਭੈਰਉ ਭੂਤ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
bhairau bhūt sītalā dhāvai .
One who chases after the god Bhairau, evil spirits and the goddess of smallpox,
ਆਜੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਬੀਠਲੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੋ ਸਮਝਾਊ ਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
āj nāmē bīthal dēkhiā mūrakh kō samajhāū rē . rahāu .
Today, Naam Dayv saw the Lord, and so I will instruct the ignorant. ||Pause||
ਮੁਕੰਦ ਮੁਕੰਦ ਜਪਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
mukand mukand japah sansār .
Meditate on the Lord Mukanday, the Liberator, O people of the world.
ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨ੍ਹਾਵੈ ॥
