ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
kar namasakār pūrē guradēv .
Humbly bow to the Perfect Divine Guru.
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸਫਲ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
saphal mūrat saphal jā kī sēv .
Fruitful is His image, and fruitful is service to Him.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
antarajāmī purakh bidhātā .
He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, the Architect of Destiny.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
āth pahar nām rang rātā .1.
Twenty-four hours a day, he remains imbued with the love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
gur gōbind gurū gōpāl .
The Guru is the Lord of the Universe, the Guru is the Lord of the World.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apanē dās kau rākhanahār .1. rahāu .
He is the Saving Grace of His slaves. ||1||Pause||
ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਉਮਰਾਉ ਪਤੀਆਏ ॥
pātisāh sāh umarāu patīāē .
He satisfies the kings, emperors and nobles.
ਦੁਸਟ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਚਾਏ ॥
dusat ahankārī mār pachāē .
He destroys the egotistical villains.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
nindak kai mukh kīnō rōg .
He puts illness into the mouths of the slanderers.
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
jai jai kār karai sabh lōg .2.
All the people celebrate His victory. ||2||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥
santan kai man mahā anand .
Supreme bliss fills the minds of the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਜਪਹਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
sant japah guradēu bhagavant .
The Saints meditate on the Divine Guru, the Lord God.
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਏ ॥
sangat kē mukh ūjal bhaē .
The faces of His companions become radiant and bright.
ਸਗਲ ਥਾਨ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੇ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
sagal thān nindak kē gaē .3.
The slanderers lose all places of rest. ||3||
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ॥
sās sās jan sadā salāhē .
With each and every breath, the Lord's humble slaves praise Him.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
pārabraham gur bēparavāhē .
The Supreme Lord God and the Guru are care-free.
ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ॥
sagal bhai mitē jā kī saran .
All fears are eradicated, in His Sanctuary.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਨਿ ॥੪॥
nindak mār pāē sabh dharan .4.
Smashing all the slanderers, the Lord knocks them to the ground. ||4||
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
jan kī nindā karai n kōi .
Let no one slander the Lord's humble servants.
ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਹੋਇ ॥
jō karai sō dukhīā hōi .
Whoever does so, will be miserable.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
āth pahar jan ēk dhiāē .
Twenty-four hours a day, the Lord's humble servant meditates on Him alone.
ਜਮੂਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੫॥
jamūā tā kai nikat n jāē .5.
The Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||5||
ਜਨ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
jan niravair nindak ahankārī .
The Lord's humble servant has no vengeance. The slanderer is egotistical.
ਜਨ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
jan bhal mānah nindak vēkārī .
The Lord's humble servant wishes well, while the slanderer dwells on evil.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਿਖਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
gur kai sikh satigurū dhiāiā .
The Sikh of the Guru meditates on the True Guru.
ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
jan ubarē nindak narak pāiā .6.
The Lord's humble servants are saved, while the slanderer is cast into hell. ||6||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
sun sājan mērē mīt piārē .
Listen, O my beloved friends and companions:
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥
sat bachan varatah har duārē .
these words shall be true in the Court of the Lord.
ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
jaisā karē s taisā pāē .
As you plant, so shall you harvest.
ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਕੀ ਜੜ ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਏ ॥੭॥
abhimānī kī jar sarapar jāē .7.
The proud, egotistical person will surely be uprooted. ||7||
ਨੀਧਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧਰ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
nīdhariā satigur dhar tērī .
O True Guru, You are the Support of the unsupported.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
kar kirapā rākhah jan kērī .
Be merciful, and save Your humble servant.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
kah nānak tis gur balihārī .
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Guru;
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੨੯॥
jā kai simaran paij savārī .8.1.29.
remembering Him in meditation, my honor has been saved. ||8||1||29||
