ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਸੁਮੇਧ ਜਗਨੇ ॥
asumēdh jaganē .
The ritual sacrifice of horses,
ਤੁਲਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾਨੇ ॥
tulā purakh dānē .
giving one's weight in gold to charities,
ਪ੍ਰਾਗ ਇਸਨਾਨੇ ॥੧॥
prāg isanānē .1.
and ceremonial cleansing baths -||1||
ਤਉ ਨ ਪੁਜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
tau n pujah har kīrat nāmā .
These are not equal to singing the Praises of the Lord's Name.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਭਜੁ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਆਲਸੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apunē rāmah bhaj rē man ālasīā .1. rahāu .
Meditate on your Lord, you lazy man! ||1||Pause||
ਗਇਆ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਭਰਤਾ ॥
gaiā pind bharatā .
Offering sweet rice at Gaya,
ਬਨਾਰਸਿ ਅਸਿ ਬਸਤਾ ॥
banāras as basatā .
living on the river banks at Benares,
ਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਦ ਚਤੁਰ ਪੜਤਾ ॥੨॥
mukh bēd chatur paratā .2.
reciting the four Vedas by heart;||2||
ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਅਛਿਤਾ ॥
sagal dharam ashitā .
Completing all religious rituals,
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ॥
gur giān indrī driratā .
restraining sexual passion by the spiritual wisdom given by the Guru,
ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਸਹਿਤ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੩॥
khat karam sahit rahatā .3.
and performing the six rituals;||3||
ਸਿਵਾ ਸਕਤਿ ਸੰਬਾਦੰ ॥
sivā sakat sanbādan .
Expounding on Shiva and Shakti
ਮਨ ਛੋਡਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਭੇਦੰ ॥
man shōd shōd sagal bhēdan .
- O man, renounce and abandon all these things.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੰ ॥
simar simar gōbindan .
Meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe.
ਭਜੁ ਨਾਮਾ ਤਰਸਿ ਭਵ ਸਿੰਧੰ ॥੪॥੧॥
bhaj nāmā taras bhav sindhan .4.1.
Meditate, O Naam Dayv, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||4||1||
