ਮਾਹਾ ਮਾਹ ਮੁਮਾਰਖੀ ਚੜਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
māhā māh mumārakhī chariā sadā basant .
Among the months, blessed is this month, when spring always comes.
ਰੁਤਿ ਆਈਲੇ ਸਰਸ ਬਸੰਤ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
rut āīlē saras basant māh .
The season of spring, so delightful, has come.
ਸੁਇਨੇ ਕਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੁਆਰ ॥
suinē kā chaukā kanchan kuār .
The kitchen is golden, and the cooking pots are golden.
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਦਿਗੰਬਰੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
basatr utār diganbar hōg .
A person may take off his clothes and be naked.
ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ॥
sagal bhavan tērī māiā mōh .
All the worlds have been fascinated and enchanted by Your Maya, O Lord.
ਮੇਰੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਭਾਇ ॥
mērī sakhī sahēlī sunah bhāi .
O my friends and companions, listen with love in your heart.
ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਜਿ ॥
āpē kudarat karē sāj .
By His Creative Power, God fashioned the creation.
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
sāhib bhāvai sēvak sēvā karai .
When it pleases our Lord and Master, His servant serves Him.
ਸਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਬਿਪ ਪੂਜਿ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ ॥
sāl grām bip pūj manāvah sukrit tulasī mālā .
O Brahmin, you worship and believe in your stone-god, and wear your ceremonial rosary beads.
ਸਾਹੁਰੜੀ ਵਥੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਝੀ ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਧਨ ਵਖੇ ॥
sāhurarī vath sabh kish sājhī pēvakarai dhan vakhē .
In the House of the Husband Lord - in the world hereafter, everything is jointly owned; but in this world - in the house of the soul-bride's parents, the soul-bride owns them separately.
ਰਾਜਾ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਨਗਰੀ ਕਾਚੀ ਦੁਸਟਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
rājā bālak nagarī kāchī dusatā nāl piārō .
The king is just a boy, and his city is vulnerable. He is in love with his wicked enemies.
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
sāchā sāh gurū sukhadātā har mēlē bhukh gavāē .
The Guru is the True Banker, the Giver of peace; He unites the mortal with the Lord, and satisfies his hunger.
ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
māhā rutī mah sad basant .
Throughout the months and the seasons, the Lord is always in bloom.
ਰਾਤੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥
rātē sāch har nām nihālā .
Those who are attuned to the True Lord's Name are happy and exalted.
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲੋਗੁ ॥
har sēvē sō har kā lōg .
One who serves the Lord is the Lord's person.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥
antar pūjā man tē hōi .
One who worships the Lord within his mind,
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
bhagat vashal har vasai man āi .
The Lord is the Lover of His devotees; He dwells within their minds,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
māiā mōh sabad jalāē .
Attachment to Maya is burnt away by the Word of the Shabad.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
pūrai bhāg sach kār kamāvai .
By perfect destiny, one acts in truth.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
bhagat karah jan dēkh hajūr .
The Lord's humble servant worships Him, and beholds Him ever-present, near at hand.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਕਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
nām ratē kulānh kā karah udhār .
Those who are imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord - their generations are redeemed and saved.
ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥
bin karamā sabh bharam bhulāī .
Without the grace of good karma, all are deluded by doubt.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
kripā karē satigurū milāē .
Granting His Grace, the Lord leads the mortal to meet the True Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
gur sabadī har chēt subhāi .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, remember the Lord with love,
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਕਿਰਮ ਜੰਤੁ ॥
tērā kīā kiram jant .
I am just a worm, created by You, O Lord.
ਬਨਸਪਤਿ ਮਉਲੀ ਚੜਿਆ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥
banasapat maulī chariā basant .
The season of spring has come, and all the plants have blossomed forth.
ਸਭਿ ਜੁਗ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ॥
sabh jug tērē kītē hōē .
All the ages were created by You, O Lord.
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
tinh basant jō har gun gāi .
They alone are in the spring season, who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਚੜਿਆ ਫੂਲੀ ਬਨਰਾਇ ॥
basant chariā phūlī banarāi .
Spring has come, and all the plants are flowering.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
gur kī bānī vitah vāriā bhāī gur sabad vitah bal jāī .
I am a sacrifice to the Word of the Guru's Bani, O Siblings of Destiny. I am devoted and dedicated to the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਜਿਉ ਪਸਰੀ ਸੂਰਜ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਜੋਤਿ ॥
jiu pasarī sūraj kiran jōt .
Just as the light of the sun's rays spread out,
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਦੇ ਪਏ ॥
rain dinas dui sadē paē .
Day and night, the two calls are sent out.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਗੜ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਏਕ ਲੁਕਾਨੀ ॥
rām nām ratan kōtharī gar mandar ēk lukānī .
The Lord's Name is a jewel, hidden in a chamber of the palace of the body-fortress.
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਡ ਅਗਮ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਹਮ ਕੀਰੇ ਕਿਰਮ ਤੁਮਨਛੇ ॥
tumh vad purakh vad agam gusāī ham kīrē kiram tumanashē .
You are the Great Supreme Being, the Vast and Inaccessible Lord of the World; I am a mere insect, a worm created by You.
ਮੇਰਾ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਗੀਧੇ ॥
mērā ik khin manūā rah n sakai nit har har nām ras gīdhē .
My mind cannot survive, even for an instant, without the Lord. I drink in continually the sublime essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਮਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਬਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਘਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
man khin khin bharam bharam bah dhāvai til ghar nahī vāsā pāīai .
Each and every moment, my mind roams and rambles, and runs all over the place. It does not stay in its own home, even for an instant.
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਦੇਹ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਸੁੰਞੁ ॥
āvan jān bhaiā dukh bikhiā dēh manamukh sunñī sunñ .
Coming and going, he suffers the pains of vice and corruption; the body of the self-willed manmukh is desolate and vacant.
ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਉ ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
gur sēvau kar namasakār .
I serve the Guru, and humbly bow to Him.
ਹਟਵਾਣੀ ਧਨ ਮਾਲ ਹਾਟੁ ਕੀਤੁ ॥
hatavānī dhan māl hāt kīt .
The shopkeeper deals in merchandise for profit.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ॥
tis basant jis prabh kripāl .
He alone experiences this springtime of the soul, unto whom God grants His Grace.
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ ॥
jī prān tumh pind dīnh .
You gave us our soul, breath of life and body.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
prabh prītam mērai sang rāi .
My Beloved God, my King is with me.
ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਉ ਹਰੇ ਬੂਟ ॥
mil pānī jiu harē būt .
As the plant turns green upon receiving water,
ਤੁਮ ਬਡ ਦਾਤੇ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ॥
tum bad dātē dē rahē .
You are the Great Giver; You continue to give.
ਤਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਕੀਆ ॥
tis tū sēv jin tū kīā .
Serve the One who created You.
ਜਿਸੁ ਬੋਲਤ ਮੁਖੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jis bōlat mukh pavit hōi .
Chanting His Name, one's mouth becomes pure.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
man tan bhītar lāgī piās .
My mind and body are gripped by thirst and desire.
ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਭ ਗਏ ਪਾਪ ॥
rām rang sabh gaē pāp .
Loving the Lord, one's sins are taken away.
ਸਚੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਨਵਾ ॥
sach paramēsar nit navā .
The True Transcendent Lord is always new, forever fresh.
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
gur charan sarēvat dukh gaiā .
Dwelling at the Guru's Feet, pain and suffering go away.
