ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Basant, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਸੁ ਬੋਲਤ ਮੁਖੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jis bōlat mukh pavit hōi .
Chanting His Name, one's mouth becomes pure.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
jis simarat niramal hai sōi .
Meditating in remembrance on Him, one's reputation becomes stainless.
ਜਿਸੁ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥
jis arādhē jam kish n kahai .
Worshipping Him in adoration, one is not tortured by the Messenger of Death.
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥
jis kī sēvā sabh kish lahai .1.
Serving Him, everything is obtained. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਬੋਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
rām rām bōl rām rām .
The Lord's Name - chant the Lord's Name.
ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tiāgah man kē sagal kām .1. rahāu .
Abandon all the desires of your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਧਰਣਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥
jis kē dhārē dharan akās .
He is the Support of the earth and the sky.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ghat ghat jis kā hai pragās .
His Light illuminates each and every heart.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਹੋਇ ॥
jis simarat patit punīt hōi .
Meditating in remembrance on Him, even fallen sinners are sanctified;
ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥
ant kāl phir phir n rōi .2.
in the end, they will not weep and wail over and over again. ||2||
ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ ਊਤਮ ਧਰਮ ॥
sagal dharam mah ūtam dharam .
Among all religions, this is the ultimate religion.
ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਕੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਮ ॥
karam karatūt kai ūpar karam .
Among all rituals and codes of conduct, this is above all.
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ॥
jis kau chāhah sur nar dēv .
The angels, mortals and divine beings long for Him.
ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਕੀ ਲਗਹੁ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥
sant sabhā kī lagah sēv .3.
To find Him, commit yourself to the service of the Society of the Saints. ||3||
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਕੀਆ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
ād purakh jis kīā dān .
One whom the Primal Lord God blesses with His bounties,
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
tis kau miliā har nidhān .
obtains the treasure of the Lord.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis kī gat mit kahī n jāi .
His state and extent cannot be described.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੯॥
nānak jan har har dhiāi .4.9.
Servant Nanak meditates on the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||9||
