ਤੂ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਹਉ ਮੀਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
tū sulatān kahā hau mīā tērī kavan vadāī .
You are the Emperor, and I call You a chief - how does this add to Your greatness?
ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਤਨੁ ਵੇਸ ਕਲੰਦਰੁ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਾ ॥
man mandar tan vēs kalandar ghat hī tīrath nāvā .
My mind is the temple, and my body is the simple cloth of the humble seeker; deep within my heart, I bathe at the sacred shrine.
ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਆਪੇ ਨੀਸਾਨੁ ॥
āpē sabad āpē nīsān .
He Himself is the Word of the Shabad, and He Himself is the Insignia.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਹਜ ਧਿਆਨੇ ॥
gur bachanī man sahaj dhiānē .
Through the Word of the Guru's Teachings, the mind intuitively meditates on the Lord.
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਖਾਇਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਅੰਗਿ ਚੜਾਇਆ ॥
dhrig dhrig khāiā dhrig dhrig sōiā dhrig dhrig kāpar ang charāiā .
Cursed, cursed is the food; cursed, cursed is the sleep; cursed, cursed are the clothes worn on the body.
ਅਤੁਲੁ ਕਿਉ ਤੋਲਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
atul kiu tōliā jāi .
How can the unweighable be weighed?
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਬਹਾਨਾ ॥
sāhib tē sēvak sēv sāhib tē kiā kō kahai bahānā .
My Lord and Master has made me His servant, and blessed me with His service; how can anyone argue about this?
ਪੂਰਾ ਥਾਟੁ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
pūrā thāt banāiā pūrai vēkhah ēk samānā .
The perfect Lord has fashioned the Perfect Creation. Behold the Lord pervading everywhere.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
guramukh prīt jis nō āpē lāē .
The Lord Himself attaches the Gurmukh to His Love;
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਈ ॥
pūrē gur tē vadiāī pāī .
From the Perfect Guru, I have obtained glorious greatness.
ਉਦਮ ਮਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਰੇ ਤਿਉ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
udam mat prabh antarajāmī jiu prērē tiu karanā .
Effort and intelligence come from God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; as He wills, they act.
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਜਨਮਾ ॥
ham mūrakh mugadh agiān matī saranāgat purakh ajanamā .
I am foolish, idiotic and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary, O Primal Being, O Lord beyond birth.
