ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
tujh tē bāhar kishū n hōi .
Without You, nothing happens.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿ ਤਰੇ ॥
gur kai sabad tarē mun kētē indrādik brahamād tarē .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, so many silent sages have been saved; Indra and Brahma have also been saved.
ਨੈਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਤਨੁ ਹੀਨਾ ਜਰਿ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਲੋ ॥
nainī drisat nahī tan hīnā jar jītiā sir kālō .
The eyes lose their sight, and the body withers away; old age overtakes the mortal, and death hangs over his head.
ਭੂੰਡੀ ਚਾਲ ਚਰਣ ਕਰ ਖਿਸਰੇ ਤੁਚਾ ਦੇਹ ਕੁਮਲਾਨੀ ॥
bhūndī chāl charan kar khisarē tuchā dēh kumalānī .
His walk becomes weak and clumsy, his feet and hands shake, and the skin of his body is withered and wrinkled.
ਸਗਲੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਸੋਵਤ ਗਲਿ ਫਾਹੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਜੰਜਾਲਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
sagalī rain sōvat gal phāhī dinas janjāl gavāiā .
He spends the entire night in sleep; the noose is tied around his neck. His day is wasted in worldly entanglements.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
gur kai sang rahai din rātī rām rasan rang rātā .
He remains with the Guru, day and night, and his tongue savors the savory taste of the Lord's Love.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਰਬ ਧਨੁ ਧਾਰਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
hiradai nām sarab dhan dhāran gur parasādī pāīai .
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the wealth and support of all; It is enshrined in the heart, by Guru's Grace.
ਜਗਨ ਹੋਮ ਪੁੰਨ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ਦੇਹ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਿਤ ਦੂਖ ਸਹੈ ॥
jagan hōm punn tap pūjā dēh dukhī nit dūkh sahai .
You may give feasts, make burnt offerings, donate to charity, perform austere penance and worship, and endure pain and suffering in the body.
ਜਾਤਿ ਕਾ ਗਰਬੁ ਨ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
jāt kā garab n karīah kōī .
No one should be proud of his social class and status.
ਜੋਗੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥
jōgī grihī pandit bhēkhadhārī .
The Yogis, the householders, the Pandits, the religious scholars, and the beggars in religious robes
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਪਣੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
jā kau rākhai apanī saranāī .
Whoever the Lord keeps in His Sanctuary,
ਮੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
mai kāman mērā kant karatār .
I am the bride; the Creator is my Husband Lord.
