ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਮਨਿ ਜਪੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਜਨ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥
satigur nām ēk liv man japai drirh tinh jan dukh pāp kah kat hōvai jīu .
Tell me, how can sin and suffering cling to that humble being who chants the Naam, given by the Guru, with single-minded love and firm faith?
ਕਚਹੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਭਇਅਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਸ੍ਰਵਣਹਿ ਸੁਣਿਓ ॥
kachah kanchan bhaiau sabad gur sravanah suniō .
Glass is transformed into gold, listening to the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਜਾਮਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੋਇ ਵਲਿ ਧਨਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਗਾਰਵੁ ਦਿਜਇ ॥
jām gurū hōi val dhanah kiā gārav dijai .
One who has the Guru on his side - how could he be proud of his wealth?
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਮਝ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
gur bin ghōr andhār gurū bin samajh n āvai .
Without the Guru, there is utter darkness; without the Guru, understanding does not come.
ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
gurū gurū gur kar man mērē .
Dwell upon the Guru, the Guru, the Guru, O my mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਗਰੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਯਉ ॥
gurū mukh dēkh garū sukh pāyau .
Gazing upon the Face of the Guru, I find peace.
ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਰਿ ਹਥੁ ਧਰ੍ਯਉ ॥
samarath gurū sir hath dharyau .
The All-powerful Guru placed His hand upon my head.
ਅਬ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਭਾਟ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ॥
ab rākhah dās bhāt kī lāj .
Now, please preserve the honor of Your humble slave.
