ਨਲ੍ਯ ਕਵਿ ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਸ ਕਚ ਕੰਚਨਾ ਹੁਇ ਚੰਦਨਾ ਸੁਬਾਸੁ ਜਾਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਅਨ ਤਰ ॥
naly kav pāras paras kach kanchanā hui chandanā subās jās simarat an tar .
So speaks NALL the poet: touching the Philosopher's Stone, glass is transformed into gold, and the sandalwood tree imparts its fragrance to other trees; meditating in remembrance on the Lord, I am transformed.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਦੇਖਤ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਹੀ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਜੀ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਪਰ ॥੩॥
jā kē dēkhat duārē kām krōdh hī nivārē jī hau bal bal jāu satigur sāchē nām par .3.
Seeing His Door, I am rid of sexual desire and anger. I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, to the True Name, O my True Guru. ||3||
ਰਾਜੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਤਖਤੁ ਦੀਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ॥
rāj jōg takhat dīan gur rāmadās .
Guru Raam Daas was blessed with the Throne of Raja Yoga.
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਚੰਦੁ ਜਗਤ ਭਯੋ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਤਾਰਨਿ ਮਨੁਖ੍ਯ ਜਨ ਕੀਅਉ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
prathamē nānak chand jagat bhayō ānand tāran manukhy jan kīau pragās .
First, Guru Nanak illuminated the world, like the full moon, and filled it with bliss. To carry humanity across, He bestowed His Radiance.
ਗੁਰ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੀਅਉ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪੰਚ ਭੂਤ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਜਮਤ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
gur angad dīau nidhān akath kathā giān panch bhūt bas kīnē jamat n trās .
He blessed Guru Angad with the treasure of spiritual wisdom, and the Unspoken Speech; He overcame the five demons and the fear of the Messenger of Death.
ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿ ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਪਤਿ ਅਘਨ ਦੇਖਤ ਗਤੁ ਚਰਨ ਕਵਲ ਜਾਸ ॥
gur amar gurū srī sat kalijug rākhī pat aghan dēkhat gat charan kaval jās .
The Great and True Guru, Guru Amar Daas, has preserved honor in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. Seeing His Lotus Feet, sin and evil are destroyed.
ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਨ੍ਯਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਭਯਉ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਰਾਜੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਤਖਤੁ ਦੀਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ॥੪॥
sabh bidh mānyiu man tab hī bhayau prasann rāj jōg takhat dīan gur rāmadās .4.
When His mind was totally satisfied in every way, when He was totally pleased, He bestowed upon Guru Raam Daas the Throne of Raja Yoga. ||4||

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਧਾਰ੍ਯਿਉ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਰੁ ਵਿਉਮੁ ਅਰੁ ਪਵਣੁ ਤੇ ਨੀਰ ਸਰ ਅਵਰ ਅਨਲ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਕੀਅਉ ॥
jisah dhāryiu dharat ar vium ar pavan tē nīr sar avar anal anād kīau .
He established the earth, the sky and the air, the water of the oceans, fire and food.
ਸਸਿ ਰਿਖਿ ਨਿਸਿ ਸੂਰ ਦਿਨਿ ਸੈਲ ਤਰੂਅ ਫਲ ਫੁਲ ਦੀਅਉ ॥
sas rikh nis sūr din sail tarū phal phul dīau .
He created the moon, the starts and the sun, night and day and mountains; he blessed the trees with flowers and fruits.
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਸਪਤ ਸਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਕਿਅ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਜਾਸੁ ॥
sur nar sapat samudr ki dhāriō tribhavan jās .
He created the gods, human beings and the seven seas; He established the three worlds.
ਸੋਈ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥੫॥
sōī ēk nām har nām sat pāiō gur amar pragās .1.5.
Guru Amar Daas was blessed with the Light of the One Name, the True Name of the Lord. ||1||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਮਨਿ ਜਪੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਜਨ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥
satigur nām ēk liv man japai drirh tinh jan dukh pāp kah kat hōvai jīu .
Tell me, how can sin and suffering cling to that humble being who chants the Naam, given by the Guru, with single-minded love and firm faith?
ਤਾਰਣ ਤਰਣ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ੍ਟਿ ਧਾਰੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਿਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਖੋਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥
tāran taran khin mātr jā kau drist dhārai sabad rid bīchārai kām krōdh khōvai jīu .
When the Lord, the Boat to carry us across, bestows His Glance of Grace, even for an instant, the mortal contemplates the Shabad within his heart; unfulfilled sexual desire and unresolved anger are eradicated.
ਜੀਅਨ ਸਭਨ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਗਮ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਬਿਖ੍ਯਾਤਾ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਧਾਵੈ ਪਲਕ ਨ ਸੋਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥
jīan sabhan dātā agam gyān bikhyātā ahinis dhyān dhāvai palak n sōvai jīu .
The Guru is the Giver to all beings; He speaks the spiritual wisdom of the Unfathomable Lord, and meditates on Him day and night. He never sleeps, even for an instant.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦੇਖਤ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਜਾਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗ੍ਯਾਨਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥
jā kau dēkhat daridr jāvai nām sō nidhān pāvai guramukh gyān duramat mail dhōvai jīu .
Seeing Him, poverty vanishes, and one is blessed with the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. The spiritual wisdom of the Guru's Word washes away the filth of evil-mindedness.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਮਨਿ ਜਪੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਹੁ ਕਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ॥

Dharmic faith and the karma of good deeds are obtained from the Perfect True Guru.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਸਬਦ ਸਾਰੁ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹੈ ॥
jā kī sēvā sidh sādh mun jan sur nar jāchah sabad sār ēk liv lāī hai .
The Siddhas and Holy Saadhus, the silent sages and angelic beings, yearn to serve Him; through the most excellent Word of the Shabad, they are lovingly attuned to the One Lord.
ਫੁਨਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਨਹਾਰੁ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ਹੈ ॥
phun jānai kō tērā apār nirabhau nirankār akath kathanahār tujhah bujhāī hai .
Who can know Your limits? You are the Embodiment of the Fearless, Formless Lord. You are the Speaker of the Unspoken Speech; You alone understand this.
ਭਰਮ ਭੂਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਛੁਟਹੁ ਜੂਨੀ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਜਮ ਕੋ ਨ ਡੰਡ ਕਾਲ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਧ੍ਯਾਈ ਹੈ ॥
bharam bhūlē sansār shutah jūnī sanghār jam kō n dand kāl guramat dhyāī hai .
O foolish worldly mortal, you are deluded by doubt; give up birth and death, and you shall not be punished by the Messenger of Death. Meditate on the Guru's Teachings.
ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮੁਗਧ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਪੁ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
man prānī mugadh bīchār ahinis jap dharam karam pūrai satigur pāī hai .2.
You foolish mortal being, reflect on this in your mind; chant and meditate day and night. Dharmic faith and the karma of good deeds are obtained from the Perfect True Guru. ||2||
ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਪਰ ॥
hau bal bal jāu satigur sāchē nām par .
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, to the True Name, O my True Guru.
ਕਵਨ ਉਪਮਾ ਦੇਉ ਕਵਨ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਰੇਉ ਏਕ ਮੁਖ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਜੋਰਿ ਕਰ ॥
kavan upamā dēu kavan sēvā sarēu ēk mukh rasanā rasah jug jōr kar .
What Praises can I offer to You? What service can I do for You? I have only one mouth and tongue; with my palms pressed together, I chant to You with joy and delight.
ਫੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਜਾਨੁ ਅਨਤ ਦੂਜਾ ਨ ਮਾਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਿਦ ਧਰ ॥
phun man bach kram jān anat dūjā n mān nām sō apār sār dīnō gur rid dhar .
In thought, word and deed, I know the Lord; I do not worship any other. The Guru has enshrined the most excellent Name of the Infinite Lord within my heart.
