Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਮੀ ਵਸੰਦੀ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਈਧਣੁ ਰਖੈ ਭਾਹਿ ॥
jimī vasandī pānīai īdhan rakhai bhāh .
The earth is in the water, and the fire is contained in the wood.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਆਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਆਢਲਿ ਹਭੁ ਕੋ ॥੨॥
nānak sō sah āh jā kai ādhal habh kō .2.
O Nanak, yearn for that Lord, who is the Support of all. ||2||

Pauree:
ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੁਧੈ ਹੀ ਗੋਚਰੇ ॥
tērē kītē kanm tudhai hī gōcharē .
The works which You have done, O Lord, could only have been performed by You.
ਸੋਈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਗਿ ਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰੇ ॥
sōī varatai jag j kīā tudh dhurē .
That alone happens in the world, which You, O Master, have done.
ਬਿਸਮੁ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੀਆ ॥
bisam bhaē bisamād dēkh kudarat tērīā .
I am wonderstruck beholding the wonder of Your Almighty Creative Power.
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਮੇਰੀਆ ॥
saran parē tērī dās kar gat hōi mērīā .
I seek Your Sanctuary - I am Your slave; if it is Your Will, I shall be emancipated.
ਤੇਰੈ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
tērai hath nidhān bhāvai tis dēh .
The treasure is in Your Hands; according to Your Will, You bestow it.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੇਇ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
jis nō hōi daiāl har nām sēi lēh .
One, upon whom You have bestowed Your Mercy, is blessed with the Lord's Name.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
agam agōchar bēant ant n pāīai .
You are unapproachable, unfathomable and infinite; Your limits cannot be found.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੧॥
jis nō hōh kripāl s nām dhiāīai .11.
One, unto whom You have been compassionate, meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||11||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੜਛੀਆ ਫਿਰੰਨ੍ਹਿ ਸੁਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਨ੍ਹਿ ਸੁਞੀਆ ॥
karashīā phirannh suāu n jānanh suñīā .
The ladles cruise through the food, but they do not know the taste of it.
ਸੇਈ ਮੁਖ ਦਿਸੰਨ੍ਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸਿ ॥੧॥
sēī mukh disannh nānak ratē prēm ras .1.
I long to see the faces of those, O Nanak, who are imbued with the essence of the Lord's Love. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਖੋਜੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਖੋਜੁ ਛਡੀਆ ਉਜਾੜਿ ॥
khōjī ladham khōj shadīā ujār .
Through the Tracker, I discovered the tracks of those who ruined my crops.
ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਵਾੜਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਖੇਤੁ ਨ ਛਿਜਈ ॥੨॥
tai sah ditī vār nānak khēt n shijaī .2.
You, O Lord, have put up the fence; O Nanak, my fields shall not be plundered again. ||2||

Pauree:
ਆਰਾਧਿਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
ārādhih sachā sōi sabh kish jis pās .
Worship in adoration that True Lord; everything is under His Power.
ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਖਸਮੁ ਆਪਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
duhā siriā khasam āp khin mah karē rās .
He Himself is the Master of both ends; in an instant, He adjusts our affairs.
ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੁ ॥
tiāgah sagal upāv tis kī ōt gah .
Renounce all your efforts, and hold fast to His Support.
ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਲਹੁ ॥
pau saranāī bhaj sukhī hūn sukh lah .
Run to His Sanctuary, and you shall obtain the comfort of all comforts.
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
karam dharam tat giān santā sang hōi .
The karma of good deeds, the righteousness of Dharma and the essence of spiritual wisdom are obtained in the Society of the Saints.
ਜਪੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
japīai anmrit nām bighan n lagai kōi .
Chanting the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, no obstacle shall block your way.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਿਆ ॥
jis nō āp daiāl tis man vuthiā .
The Lord abides in the mind of one who is blessed by His Kindness.
ਪਾਈਅਨ੍ਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਤੁਠਿਆ ॥੧੨॥
pāīanh sabh nidhān sāhib tuthiā .12.
All treasures are obtained, when the Lord and Master is pleased. ||12||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਲਧਮੁ ਲਭਣਹਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੰਦੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥
ladham labhanahār karam karandō mā pirī .
I have found the object of my search - my Beloved took pity on me.
ਇਕੋ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਆ ਨ ਪਸੀਐ ॥੧॥
ikō sirajanahār nānak biā n pasīai .1.
There is One Creator; O Nanak, I do not see any other. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਪਾਪੜਿਆ ਪਛਾੜਿ ਬਾਣੁ ਸਚਾਵਾ ਸੰਨ੍ਹਿ ਕੈ ॥
pāpariā pashār bān sachāvā sannh kai .
Take aim with the arrow of Truth, and shoot down sin.
ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੜਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਥੀਵਈ ॥੨॥
gur mantrarā chitār nānak dukh n thīvaī .2.
Cherish the Words of the Guru's Mantra, O Nanak, and you shall not suffer in pain. ||2||

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਠਾਢਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
vāh vāh sirajanahār pāīan thādh āp .
Waaho! Waaho! The Creator Lord Himself has brought about peace and tranquility.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
jī jant miharavān tis nō sadā jāp .
He is Kind to all beings and creatures; meditate forever on Him.
ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਮਰਥਿ ਚੁਕੇ ਬਿਲ ਬਿਲਾਪ ॥
daiā dhārī samarath chukē bil bilāp .
The all-powerful Lord has shown Mercy, and my cries of suffering are ended.
ਨਠੇ ਤਾਪ ਦੁਖ ਰੋਗ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਿ ॥
nathē tāp dukh rōg pūrē gur pratāp .
My fevers, pains and diseases are gone, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru.
ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਖ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ਥਾਪਿ ॥
kītīan āpanī rakh garīb nivāj thāp .
The Lord has established me, and protected me; He is the Cherisher of the poor.
ਆਪੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਛਡਾਇ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਪਿ ॥
āpē laian shadāi bandhan sagal kāp .
He Himself has delivered me, breaking all my bonds.
ਤਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਆਸ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿ ॥
tisan bujhī ās punnī man santōkh dhrāp .
My thirst is quenched, my hopes are fulfilled, and my mind is contented and satisfied.
ਵਡੀ ਹੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਅਪਾਰ ਖਸਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਪਾਪਿ ॥੧੩॥
vadī hūn vadā apār khasam jis lēp n punn pāp .13.
The greatest of the great, the Infinite Lord and Master - He is not affected by virtue and vice. ||13||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਈ ਜਪਾਤ ॥
jā kau bhaē kripāl prabh har har sēī japāt .
They alone meditate on the Lord God, Har, Har, unto whom the Lord is Merciful.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਤ ॥੧॥
nānak prīt lagī tin rām siu bhētat sādh sangāt .1.
O Nanak, they enshrine love for the Lord, meeting the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮਹੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
rām ramah badabhāgīhō jal thal mahīal sōi .
Contemplate the Lord, O very fortunate ones; He is pervading in the water, the land and the sky.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਰਾਧਿਐ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
nānak nām arādhiai bighan n lāgai kōi .2.
O Nanak, worshipping the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mortal encounters no misfortune. ||2||

Pauree:
ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਵੈ ਥਾਇ ॥
bhagatā kā bōliā paravān hai daragah pavai thāi .
The speech of the devotees is approved; it is accepted in the Court of the Lord.
ਭਗਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਰਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
bhagatā tērī tēk ratē sach nāi .
Your devotees take to Your Support; they are imbued with the True Name.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
jis nō hōi kripāl tis kā dūkh jāi .
One unto whom You are Merciful, has his sufferings depart.
