ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥

Renounce pride, attachment, corruption and falsehood, and chant the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam.
ਮਨ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੈ ਚਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
man santanā kai charan lāg .1.
O mortal, attach yourself to the Feet of the Saints. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਾਗੁ ॥
prabh gōpāl dīn daiāl patit pāvan pārabraham har charan simar jāg .
God is the Sustainer of the world, Merciful to the meek, the Purifier of sinners, the Transcendent Lord God. Awaken, and meditate on His Feet.
ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੫੫॥
kar bhagat nānak pūran bhāg .2.4.155.
Perform His devotional worship, O Nanak, and your destiny shall be fulfilled. ||2||4||155||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਅਨੰਦੀ ਖੇਲੁ ਰੀ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
harakh sōg bairāg anandī khēl rī dikhāiō .1. rahāu .
Pleasure and pain, detachment and ecstasy - the Lord has revealed His Play. ||1||Pause||
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਭੈ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਇਓ ॥
khinahūn bhai nirabhai khinahūn khinahūn uth dhāiō .
One moment, the mortal is in fear, and the next moment he is fearless; in a moment, he gets up and departs.
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਨ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਖਿਨਹੂ ਤਜਿ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
khinahūn ras bhōgan khinahūn khinahū taj jāiō .1.
One moment, he enjoys pleasures, and the next moment, he leaves and goes away. ||1||
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਤਾਪ ਬਹੁ ਪੂਜਾ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਭਰਮਾਇਓ ॥
khinahūn jōg tāp bah pūjā khinahūn bharamāiō .
One moment, he practices Yoga and intense meditation, and all sorts of worship; the next moment, he wanders in doubt.
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੫੬॥
khinahūn kirapā sādhū sang nānak har rang lāiō .2.5.156.
One moment, O Nanak, the Lord bestows His Mercy and blesses him with His Love, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||5||156||

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gōbind gōbind kar hānh .
Meditate on the Lord, the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
har har man piār hānh .
Cherish the Beloved Lord, Har, Har, in your mind.
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਧਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur kahiā s chit dhar hānh .
The Guru says to install it in your consciousness.
ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਤੋਰਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
an siu tōr phēr hānh .
Turn away from others, and turn to Him.
ਐਸੇ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aisē lālan pāiō rī sakhī .1. rahāu .
Thus you shall obtain your Beloved, O my companion. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਕਜ ਮੋਹ ਸਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
pankaj mōh sar hānh .
In the pool of the world is the mud of attachment.
ਪਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਚਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
pag nahī chalai har hānh .
Stuck in it, his feet cannot walk towards the Lord.
ਗਹਡਿਓ ਮੂੜ ਨਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gahadiō mūr nar hānh .
The fool is stuck;
ਅਨਿਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
anin upāv kar hānh .
he cannot do anything else.
ਤਉ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੈ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੧॥
tau nikasai saran pai rī sakhī .1.
Only by entering the Lord's Sanctuary, O my companion, will you be released. ||1||
ਥਿਰ ਥਿਰ ਚਿਤ ਥਿਰ ਹਾਂ ॥
thir thir chit thir hānh .
Thus your consciousness shall be stable and steady and firm.
ਬਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
ban grih samasar hānh .
Wilderness and household are the same.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕ ਪਿਰ ਹਾਂ ॥
antar ēk pir hānh .
Deep within dwells the One Husband Lord;
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਧਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
bāhar anēk dhar hānh .
outwardly, there are many distractions.
ਰਾਜਨ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
rājan jōg kar hānh .
Practice Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੋਗ ਅਲੋਗੀ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੫੭॥
kah nānak lōg alōgī rī sakhī .2.1.157.
Says Nanak, this is the way to dwell with the people, and yet remain apart from them. ||2||1||157||
ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
āsāvarī mahalā 5 .
Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨਸਾ ਏਕ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
manasā ēk mān hānh .
Cherish one desire only:
ਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਤ ਧਿਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur siu nēt dhiān hānh .
meditate continually on the Guru.
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਤ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
drir sant mant giān hānh .
Install the wisdom of the Saints' Mantra.
ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
sēvā gur charān hānh .
Serve the Feet of the Guru,
ਤਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tau milīai gur kripān mērē manā .1. rahāu .
and you shall meet Him, by Guru's Grace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਟੂਟੇ ਅਨ ਭਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
tūtē an bharān hānh .
All doubts are dispelled,
ਰਵਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
raviō sarab thān hānh .
and the Lord is seen to be pervading all places.
ਲਹਿਓ ਜਮ ਭਇਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
lahiō jam bhaiān hānh .
The fear of death is dispelled,
ਪਾਇਓ ਪੇਡ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
pāiō pēd thān hānh .
and the primal place is obtained.
ਤਉ ਚੂਕੀ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਨਿ ॥੧॥
tau chūkī sagal kān .1.
Then, all subservience is removed. ||1||
ਲਹਨੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
lahanō jis mathān hānh .
One who has such destiny recorded upon his forehead, obtains it;
ਭੈ ਪਾਵਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
bhai pāvak pār parān hānh .
he crosses over the terrifying ocean of fire.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
nij ghar tisah thān hānh .
He obtains a place in the home of his own self,
ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਰਸਹਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
har ras rasah mān hānh .
and enjoys the most sublime essence of the Lord's essence.
ਲਾਥੀ ਤਿਸ ਭੁਖਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
lāthī tis bhukhān hānh .
His hunger is appeased;
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੫੮॥
nānak sahaj samāiō rē manā .2.2.158.
Nanak, he is absorbed in celestial peace, O my mind. ||2||2||158||
ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
har har har gunī hānh .
Sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har.
ਜਪੀਐ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
japīai sahaj dhunī hānh .
Meditate on the celestial music.
ਸਾਧੂ ਰਸਨ ਭਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
sādhū rasan bhanī hānh .
The tongues of the holy Saints repeat it.
ਛੂਟਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
shūtan bidh sunī hānh .
I have heard that this is the way to emancipation.
ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡ ਪੁਨੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pāīai vad punī mērē manā .1. rahāu .
This is found by the greatest merit, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਖੋਜਹਿ ਜਨ ਮੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
khōjah jan munī hānh .
The silent sages search for Him.
ਸ੍ਰਬ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
srab kā prabh dhanī hānh .
God is the Master of all.
ਦੁਲਭ ਕਲਿ ਦੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
dulabh kal dunī hānh .
It is so difficult to find Him in this world, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.
ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
dūkh bināsanī hānh .
He is the Dispeller of distress.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਨੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
prabh pūran āsanī mērē manā .1.
God is the Fulfiller of desires, O my mind. ||1||
ਮਨ ਸੋ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
man sō sēvīai hānh .
O my mind, serve Him.
