ਲਾਲ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
lāl javēhar bharē bhandār .
My treasure-house is overflowing with rubies and jewels;
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥
tōt n āvai jap nirankār .
I meditate on the Formless Lord, and so they never run short.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
anmrit sabad pīvai jan kōi .
How rare is that humble being, who drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Word of the Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥੪੧॥੯੨॥
nānak tā kī param gat hōi .2.41.92.
O Nanak, he attains the state of highest dignity. ||2||41||92||
ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੭ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
āsā ghar 7 mahalā 5 .
Aasaa, Seventh House, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
har kā nām ridai nit dhiāī .
Meditate continually on the Name of the Lord within your heart.
ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਤਰਾਂਈ ॥੧॥
sangī sāthī sagal tarānhī .1.
Thus you shall save all your companions and associates. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
gur mērai sang sadā hai nālē .
My Guru is always with me, near at hand.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
simar simar tis sadā samhālē .1. rahāu .
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on Him, I cherish Him forever. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
tērā kīā mīthā lāgai .
Your actions seem so sweet to me.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ॥੨॥੪੨॥੯੩॥
har nām padārath nānak mānhgai .2.42.93.
Nanak begs for the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||42||93||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
sādhū sangat tariā sansār .
The world is saved by the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
har kā nām manah ādhār .1.
The Name of the Lord is the Support of the mind. ||1||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
charan kamal guradēv piārē .
The Saints worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Divine Guru;
ਪੂਜਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pūjah sant har prīt piārē .1. rahāu .
they love the Beloved Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
jā kai masatak likhiā bhāg .
She who has such good destiny written upon her forehead,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ॥੨॥੪੩॥੯੪॥
kah nānak tā kā thir sōhāg .2.43.94.
says Nanak, is blessed with the eternal happy marriage with the Lord. ||2||43||94||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੀਠੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਪਿਰ ਕੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
mīthī āgiā pir kī lāgī .
The Order of my Husband Lord seems so sweet to me.
ਸਉਕਨਿ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਕੰਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
saukan ghar kī kant tiāgī .
My Husband Lord has driven out the one who was my rival.
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
pri sōhāgan sīgār karī .
My Beloved Husband has decorated me, His happy soul-bride.
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਹਰੀ ॥੧॥
man mērē kī tapat harī .1.
He has quieted the burning thirst of my mind. ||1||
ਭਲੋ ਭਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕਹਿਆ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
bhalō bhaiō pri kahiā māniā .
It is good that I submitted to the Will of my Beloved Lord.
ਸੂਖੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਇਸੁ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sūkh sahaj is ghar kā jāniā . rahāu .
I have realized celestial peace and poise within this home of mine. ||Pause||
ਹਉ ਬੰਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਖਿਜਮਤਦਾਰ ॥
hau bandī pri khijamatadār .
I am the hand-maiden, the attendant of my Beloved Lord.
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ōh abināsī agam apār .
He is eternal and imperishable, inaccessible and infinite.
ਲੇ ਪਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਝਲਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
lē pakhā pri jhalau pāē .
Holding the fan, sitting at His Feet, I wave it over my Beloved.
ਭਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਲਾਵੇ ॥੨॥
bhāg gaē panch dūt lāvē .2.
The five demons who tortured me have run away. ||2||
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਕੁਲੁ ਨਾ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥
nā mai kul nā sōbhāvant .
I am not from a noble family, and I am not beautiful.
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਾ ਕਿਉ ਭਾਨੀ ਕੰਤ ॥
kiā jānā kiu bhānī kant .
What do I know? Why am I pleasing to my Beloved?
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਮਾਨੀ ॥
mōh anāth garīb nimānī .
I am a poor orphan, destitute and dishonored.
ਕੰਤ ਪਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਕੀਨੀ ਰਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
kant pakar ham kīnī rānī .3.
My Husband took me in, and made me His queen. ||3||
ਜਬ ਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
jab mukh prītam sājan lāgā .
When I saw my Beloved's face before me,
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਾ ॥
sūkh sahaj mērā dhan sōhāgā .
I became so happy and peaceful; my married life was blessed.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੋਰੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
kah nānak mōrī pūran āsā .
Says Nanak, my desires are fulfilled.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੯੫॥
satigur mēlī prabh gunatāsā .4.1.95.
The True Guru has united me with God, the treasure of excellence. ||4||1||95||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਾਥੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੂਰਿ ॥
māthai trikutī drisat karūr .
A frown creases her forehead, and her look is evil.
ਬੋਲੈ ਕਉੜਾ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਕੀ ਫੂੜਿ ॥
bōlai kaurā jihabā kī phūr .
Her speech is bitter, and her tongue is rude.
ਸਦਾ ਭੂਖੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥
sadā bhūkhī pir jānai dūr .1.
She is always hungry, and she believes her Husband to be far away. ||1||
ਐਸੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਇਕ ਰਾਮਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
aisī isatrī ik rām upāī .
Such is Maya, the woman, which the One Lord has created.
ਉਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਖਾਇਆ ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
un sabh jag khāiā ham gur rākhē mērē bhāī . rahāu .
She is devouring the whole world, but the Guru has saved me, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause||
ਪਾਇ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੋਹਿਆ ॥
pāi thagaulī sabh jag jōhiā .
Administering her poisons, she has overcome the whole world.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਮੋਹਿਆ ॥
brahamā bisan mahādēu mōhiā .
She has bewitched Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਸੋਹਿਆ ॥੨॥
guramukh nām lagē sē sōhiā .2.
Only those Gurmukhs who are attuned to the Naam are blessed. ||2||
ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨਾ ॥
varat nēm kar thākē punahacharanā .
Performing fasts, religious observances and atonements, the mortals have grown weary.
ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਭਵੇ ਸਭ ਧਰਨਾ ॥
tat tīrath bhavē sabh dharanā .
They wander over the entire planet, on pilgrimages to the banks of sacred rivers.
ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
sē ubarē j satigur kī saranā .3.
But they alone are saved, who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਭੋ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਧਾ ॥
māiā mōh sabhō jag bādhā .
Attached to Maya, the whole world is in bondage.
ਹਉਮੈ ਪਚੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਰਾਖਾ ॥
haumai pachai manamukh mūrākhā .
The foolish self-willed manmukhs are consumed by their egotism.
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਰਾਖਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੯੬॥
gur nānak bāh pakar ham rākhā .4.2.96.
Taking me by the arm, Guru Nanak has saved me. ||4||2||96||

ਸਰਬ ਦੂਖ ਜਬ ਬਿਸਰਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
sarab dūkh jab bisarah suāmī .
Everything is painful, when one forgets the Lord Master.
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
īhā ūhā kām n prānī .1.
Here and hereafter, such a mortal is useless. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧ੍ਯਾਇ ॥
sant tripatāsē har har dhyāi .
The Saints are satisfied, meditating on the Lord, Har, Har.
