ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਗਤੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
dūkh rōg bhaē gat tan tē man niramal har har gun gāi .
Pain and disease have left my body, and my mind has become pure; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਬ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
bhaē anand mil sādhū sang ab mērā man kat hī n jāi .1.
I am in bliss, meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and now, my mind does not go wandering. ||1||
ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
tapat bujhī gur sabadī māi .
My burning desires are quenched, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, O mother.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਇਓ ਤਾਪ ਸਭ ਸਹਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binas gaiō tāp sabh sahasā gur sītal miliō sahaj subhāi .1. rahāu .
The fever of doubt has been totally eliminated; meeting the Guru, I am cooled and soothed, with intuitive ease. ||1||Pause||
ਧਾਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਏਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਬੂਝਿਆ ਆਇ ਬਸੇ ਅਬ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਥਾਇ ॥
dhāvat rahē ēk ik būjhiā āi basē ab nihachal thāi .
My wandering has ended, since I have realized the One and Only Lord; now, I have come to dwell in the eternal place.
ਜਗਤੁ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸੰਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੨॥
jagat udhāran sant tumārē darasan pēkhat rahē aghāi .2.
Your Saints are the Saving Grace of the world; beholding the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, I remain satisfied. ||2||
ਜਨਮ ਦੋਖ ਪਰੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਛੈ ਅਬ ਪਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਇ ॥
janam dōkh parē mērē pāshai ab pakarē nihachal sādhū pāi .
I have left behind the sins of countless incarnations, now that I have grasped the feet of the eternal Holy Guru.
ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਮੰਗਲ ਮਨੂਆ ॥
sahaj dhun gāvai mangal manūā .
My mind sings the celestial melody of bliss,
ਅਬ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਫੁਨਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥੩॥
ab tā kau phun kāl n khāi .3.
and death shall no longer consume it. ||3||
ਕਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਮਰਥ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
karan kāran samarath hamārē sukhadāī mērē har har rāi .
My Lord, the Cause of all causes, is All-powerful, the Giver of peace; He is my Lord, my Lord King.
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੪॥੯॥
nām tērā jap jīvai nānak ōt pōt mērai sang sahāi .4.9.
Nanak lives by chanting Your Name, O Lord; You are my helper, with me, through and through. ||4||9||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
āsā mahalā 5 .
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਰੜਾਵੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਵੈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ॥
ararāvai bilalāvai nindak .
The slanderer cries out and bewails.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬਿਸਰਿਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pārabraham paramēsar bisariā apanā kītā pāvai nindak .1. rahāu .
He has forgotten the Supreme Lord, the Transcendent Lord; the slanderer reaps the rewards of his own actions. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਲੇ ਲਏ ਸਿਧਾਵੈ ॥
jē kōī us kā sangī hōvai nālē laē sidhāvai .
If someone is his companion, then he shall be taken along with him.
ਅਣਹੋਦਾ ਅਜਗਰੁ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਏ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
anahōdā ajagar bhār uthāē nindak aganī māh jalāvai .1.
Like the dragon, the slanderer carries his huge, useless loads, and burns in his own fire. ||1||
ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਜਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਤੀਤੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
paramēsar kai duārai j hōi bitītai s nānak ākh sunāvai .
Nanak proclaims and announces what happens at the Door of the Transcendent Lord.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਇ ਬਿਗਸਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੧੦॥
bhagat janā kau sadā anand hai har kīratan gāi bigasāvai .2.10.
The humble devotees of the Lord are forever in bliss; singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, they blossom forth. ||2||10||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
āsā mahalā 5 .
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਉ ਮੈ ਕੀਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੀਗਾਰਾ ॥
jau mai kīō sagal sīgārā .
Even though I totally decorated myself,
ਤਉ ਭੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਪਤੀਆਰਾ ॥
tau bhī mērā man n patīārā .
still, my mind was not satisfied.
ਅਨਿਕ ਸੁਗੰਧਤ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥
anik sugandhat tan mah lāvau .
I applied various scented oils to my body,
ਓਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
ōh sukh til samān nahī pāvau .
and yet, I did not obtain even a tiny bit of pleasure from this.
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਐਸੀ ਆਸਾਈ ॥
man mah chitavau aisī āsāī .
Within my mind, I hold such a desire,
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਦੇਖਤ ਜੀਵਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
pri dēkhat jīvau mērī māī .1.
that I may live only to behold my Beloved, O my mother. ||1||
ਮਾਈ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਉ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਧੀਰੈ ॥
māī kahā karau ih man n dhīrai .
O mother, what should I do? This mind cannot rest.
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਹਿਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pri prītam bairāg hirai .1. rahāu .
It is bewitched by the tender love of my Beloved. ||1||Pause||
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਭੂਖਨ ਸੁਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਸੇਖੈ ॥
basatr bibhūkhan sukh bahut bisēkhai .
Garments, ornaments, and such exquisite pleasures
ਓਇ ਭੀ ਜਾਨਉ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
ōi bhī jānau kitai n lēkhai .
- I look upon these as of no account.
ਪਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਅਰੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ॥
pat sōbhā ar mān mahat .
Likewise, honor, fame, dignity and greatness,
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਗਤੁ ॥
āgiākārī sagal jagat .
obedience by the whole world,
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਲਾਲ ॥
grih aisā hai sundar lāl .
and a household as beautiful as a jewel.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਾ ਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥
prabh bhāvā tā sadā nihāl .2.
If I am pleasing to God's Will, then I shall be blessed, and forever in bliss. ||2||
ਬਿੰਜਨ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥
binjan bhōjan anik parakār .
With foods and delicacies of so many different kinds,
ਰੰਗ ਤਮਾਸੇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
rang tamāsē bahut bisathār .
and such abundant pleasures and entertainments,
ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਅਰੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਸਿ ॥
rāj milakh ar bahut phuramāis .
power and property and absolute command
ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਾ ਜਾਇਸਿ ॥
man nahī dhrāpai trisanā nā jāis .
- with these, the mind is not satisfied, and its thirst is not quenched.
ਬਿਨੁ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਇਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਨ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ॥
bin milabē ih din n bihāvai .
Without meeting Him, this day does not pass.
ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਾ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
milai prabhū tā sabh sukh pāvai .3.
Meeting God, I find peace. ||3||
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਸੁਨੀ ਇਹ ਸੋਇ ॥
khōjat khōjat sunī ih sōi .
By searching and seeking, I have heard this news,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
sādhasangat bin tariō n kōi .
that without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, no one swims across.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jis masatak bhāg tin satigur pāiā .
One who has this good destiny written upon his forehead, finds the True Guru.
ਪੂਰੀ ਆਸਾ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਇਆ ॥
pūrī āsā man tripatāiā .
His hopes are fulfilled, and his mind is satisfied.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਾ ਚੂਕੀ ਡੰਝਾ ॥
prabh miliā tā chūkī danjhā .
When one meets God, then his thirst is quenched.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਧਾ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਮੰਝਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
nānak ladhā man tan manjhā .4.11.
Nanak has found the Lord, within his mind and body. ||4||11||
