ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਥਿਧਾਈ ॥
ahanbudh man pūr thidhāī .
The mind is overflowing with the greasy dirt of egotistical pride.
ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਧ ਮੰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
sādh dhūr kar sudh manjāī .1.
With the dust of the feet of the Holy, it is scrubbed clean. ||1||
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਲਾ ਜੇ ਧੋਵੈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
anik jalā jē dhōvai dēhī .
The body may be washed with loads of water,
ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਤੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
mail n utarai sudh n tēhī .2.
and yet its filth is not removed, and it does not become clean. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
satigur bhētiō sadā kripāl .
I have met the True Guru, who is merciful forever.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਭਉ ਕਾਲ ॥੩॥
har simar simar kātiā bhau kāl .3.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord, I am rid of the fear of death. ||3||
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
mukat bhugat jugat har nāu .
Liberation, pleasures and worldly success are all in the Lord's Name.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੧੦੦॥੧੬੯॥
prēm bhagat nānak gun gāu .4.100.169.
With loving devotional worship, O Nanak, sing His Glorious Praises. ||4||100||169||

The Lord's slaves attain the highest status of life.
ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
jin miliā ātam paragās .1.
Meeting them, the soul is enlightened. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਕਾਨੀ ॥
har kā simaran sun man kānī .
Those who listen with their mind and ears to the Lord's meditative remembrance,
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh pāvah har duār parānī .1. rahāu .
are blessed with peace at the Lord's Gate, O mortal. ||1||Pause||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ॥
āth pahar dhiāīai gōpāl .
Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on the Sustainer of the World.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥੨॥੧੦੧॥੧੭੦॥
nānak darasan dēkh nihāl .2.101.170.
O Nanak, gazing on the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, I am enraptured. ||2||101||170||

Peace and tranquility have come; the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, has brought it.
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tāp pāp binasē mērē bhāī .1. rahāu .
The burning sins have departed, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
rām nām nit rasan bakhān .
With your tongue, continually chant the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਕਲਿਆਨ ॥੧॥
binasē rōg bhaē kaliān .1.
Disease shall depart, and you shall be saved. ||1||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
pārabraham gun agam bīchār .
Contemplate the Glorious Virtues of the Unfathomable Supreme Lord God.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੨॥
sādhū sangam hai nisatār .2.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall be emancipated. ||2||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤ ॥
niramal gun gāvah nit nīt .
Sing the Glories of God each and every day;
ਗਈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਨ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
gaī biādh ubarē jan mīt .3.
your afflictions shall be dispelled, and you shall be saved, my humble friend. ||3||
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
man bach kram prabh apanā dhiāī .
In thought, word and deed, I meditate on my God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦੨॥੧੭੧॥

Doubt has been dispelled; my service has been successful. ||1||Pause||
ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੇ ਰਖਿਆ ਬਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
sītalā tē rakhiā bihārī .
The Giver of joy has saved him from smallpox.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
pārabraham prabh kirapā dhārī .1.
The Supreme Lord God has granted His Grace. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
nānak nām japai sō jīvai .
O Nanak, he alone lives, who chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

Blessed is that forehead, and blessed are those eyes;
ਧਨੁ ਓਇ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਨ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤ ॥੧॥
dhan ōi bhagat jin tum sang hēt .1.
blessed are those devotees who are in love with You. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
nām binā kaisē sukh lahīai .
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how anyone find peace?
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rasanā rām nām jas kahīai .1. rahāu .
With your tongue, chant the Praises of the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਤਿਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
tin ūpar jāīai kurabān .
Nanak is a sacrifice to those
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥੧੦੪॥੧੭੩॥
nānak jin japiā nirabān .2.104.173.
who meditate on the Lord of Nirvaanaa. ||2||104||173||

You are my Advisor; You are always with me.
ਤੂਹੈ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
tūhai rākhah sār samāl .1.
You preserve, protect and care for me. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
aisā rām dīn dunī sahāī .
Such is the Lord, our Help and Support in this world and the next.
ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dās kī paij rakhai mērē bhāī .1. rahāu .
He protects the honor of His slave, O my Sibling of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਆਗੈ ਆਪਿ ਇਹੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
āgai āp ih thān vas jā kai .
He alone exists hereafter; this place is in His Power.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
āth pahar man har kau jāpai .2.
Twenty-four hours a day, O my mind, chant and meditate on the Lord. ||2||
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
pat paravān sach nīsān .
His honor is acknowledged, and he bears the True Insignia;
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
jā kau āp karah phuramān .3.
the Lord Himself issues His Royal Command. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ॥
āpē dātā āp pratipāl .
He Himself is the Giver; He Himself is the Cherisher.
ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੪॥੧੦੫॥੧੭੪॥
nit nit nānak rām nām samāl .4.105.174.
Continually, continuously, O Nanak, dwell upon the Name of the Lord. ||4||105||174||

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ॥੧॥

the Lord of the World abides in the heart forever. ||1||
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਤ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
rām ravat sad hī sukh pāiā .
Meditating on the Lord, I have found eternal peace.
