ਹਾਥ ਪਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਚੀਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੨੧੩॥
hāth pāu kar kām sabh chīt niranjan nāl .213.
With your hands and feet, do all your work, but let your consciousness remain with the Immaculate Lord. ||213||

Fifth Mehl:
ਕਬੀਰਾ ਹਮਰਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਹਮ ਕਿਸ ਹੂ ਕੇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
kabīrā hamarā kō nahī ham kis hū kē nāh .
Kabeer, no one belongs to me, and I belong to no one else.
ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨੧੪॥
jin ih rachan rachāiā tis hī māh samāh .214.
The One who created the creation - into Him I shall be absorbed. ||214||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੀਚੜਿ ਆਟਾ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਹਾਥ ॥
kabīr kīchar ātā gir pariā kishū n āiō hāth .
Kabeer, the flour has fallen into the mud; nothing has come into my hands.
ਪੀਸਤ ਪੀਸਤ ਚਾਬਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਨਿਬਹਿਆ ਸਾਥ ॥੨੧੫॥
pīsat pīsat chābiā sōī nibahiā sāth .215.
That which was eaten while it was being ground - that alone is of any use. ||215||
ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਭ ਬਾਤ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੀ ਅਉਗਨੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
kabīr man jānai sabh bāt jānat hī augan karai .
Kabeer, the mortal knows everything, and knowing, he still makes mistakes.
ਕਾਹੇ ਕੀ ਕੁਸਲਾਤ ਹਾਥਿ ਦੀਪੁ ਕੂਏ ਪਰੈ ॥੨੧੬॥
kāhē kī kusalāt hāth dīp kūē parai .216.
What good is a lamp in one's hand, if he falls into the well? ||216||
ਕਬੀਰ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਰਜੈ ਲੋਗੁ ਅਜਾਨੁ ॥
kabīr lāgī prīt sujān siu barajai lōg ajān .
Kabeer, I am in love with the All-knowing Lord; the ignorant ones try to hold me back.
ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਟੂਟੀ ਕਿਉ ਬਨੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਨ ॥੨੧੭॥
tā siu tūtī kiu banai jā kē jī parān .217.
How could I ever break with the One, who owns our soul and breath of life. ||217||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਹੇਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਮਰਹੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
kabīr kōthē mandap hēt kar kāhē marah savār .
Kabeer, why kill yourself for your love of decorations of your home and mansion?
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਾਢੇ ਤੀਨਿ ਹਥ ਘਨੀ ਤ ਪਉਨੇ ਚਾਰਿ ॥੨੧੮॥
kāraj sādhē tīn hath ghanī t paunē chār .218.
In the end, only six feet, or a little more, shall be your lot. ||218||
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੋ ਮੈ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਨਾ ਕਰੈ ਕਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿਤਵੇ ਹੋਇ ॥
kabīr jō mai chitavau nā karai kiā mērē chitavē hōi .
Kabeer, whatever I wish for does not happen. What can I accomplish by merely thinking?
ਅਪਨਾ ਚਿਤਵਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨੧੯॥
apanā chitaviā har karai jō mērē chit n hōi .219.
The Lord does whatever He wishes; it is not up to me at all. ||219||

Third Mehl:
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਇਸੀ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
chintā bh āp karāisī achint bh āpē dēi .
God Himself makes the mortals anxious, and He Himself takes the anxiety away.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨੨੦॥
nānak sō sālāhīai j sabhanā sār karēi .220.
O Nanak, praise the One, who takes care of all. ||220||

Fifth Mehl:
ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਫਿਰਿਆ ਲਾਲਚ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
kabīr rām n chētiō phiriā lālach māh .
Kabeer, the mortal does not remember the Lord; he wanders around, engrossed in greed.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰੰਤਾ ਮਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਅਉਧ ਪੁਨੀ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੨੨੧॥
pāp karantā mar gaiā audh punī khin māh .221.
Committing sins, he dies, and his life ends in an instant. ||221||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਚੀ ਕਾਰਵੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਕਾਚੀ ਧਾਤੁ ॥
kabīr kāiā kāchī kāravī kēval kāchī dhāt .
Kabeer, the body is like a clay vessel or a brittle metal pot.
ਸਾਬਤੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਤ ਰਾਮ ਭਜੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਤ ਬਿਨਠੀ ਬਾਤ ॥੨੨੨॥
sābat rakhah t rām bhaj nāh t binathī bāt .222.
If you wish to keep it safe and sound, then vibrate and meditate on the Lord; otherwise, the thing shall break. ||222||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੇਸੋ ਕੇਸੋ ਕੂਕੀਐ ਨ ਸੋਈਐ ਅਸਾਰ ॥
kabīr kēsō kēsō kūkīai n sōīai asār .
Kabeer, chant the Name of the Beautifully-haired Lord; do not sleep unaware.
ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਵਸ ਕੇ ਕੂਕਨੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਕੇ ਸੁਨੈ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥੨੨੩॥
rāt divas kē kūkanē kabahū kē sunai pukār .223.
Chanting His Name night and day, the Lord will eventually hear your call. ||223||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਜਲੀ ਬਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਕੁੰਚਰੁ ਮਯ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
kabīr kāiā kajalī ban bhaiā man kunchar may mant .
Kabeer, the body is a banana forest, and the mind is an intoxicated elephant.
ਅੰਕਸੁ ਗ੍ਯਾਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਹੈ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਸੰਤੁ ॥੨੨੪॥
ankas gyān ratan hai khēvat biralā sant .224.
The jewel of spiritual wisdom is the prod, and the rare Saint is the rider. ||224||
ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਕੋਥਰੀ ਪਾਰਖ ਆਗੈ ਖੋਲਿ ॥
kabīr rām ratan mukh kōtharī pārakh āgai khōl .
Kabeer, the Lord's Name is the jewel, and the mouth is the purse; open this purse to the Appraiser.
ਕੋਈ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈਗੋ ਗਾਹਕੀ ਲੇਗੋ ਮਹਗੇ ਮੋਲਿ ॥੨੨੫॥
kōī āi milaigō gāhakī lēgō mahagē mōl .225.
If a buyer can be found, it will go for a high price. ||225||
ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਲਿਓ ਕਟਕੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ॥
kabīr rām nām jāniō nahī pāliō katak kutanb .
Kabeer, the mortal does not know the Lord's Name, but he has raised a very large family.
ਧੰਧੇ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਈ ਨ ਬੰਬ ॥੨੨੬॥
dhandhē hī mah mar gaiō bāhar bhaī n banb .226.
He dies in the midst of his worldly affairs, and then he is not heard in the external world. ||226||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖੀ ਕੇਰੇ ਮਾਟੁਕੇ ਪਲੁ ਪਲੁ ਗਈ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
kabīr ākhī kērē mātukē pal pal gaī bihāi .
Kabeer, in the blink of an eye, moment by moment, life is passing by.
ਮਨੁ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਈ ਜਮ ਦੀਆ ਦਮਾਮਾ ਆਇ ॥੨੨੭॥
man janjāl n shōdaī jam dīā damāmā āi .227.
The mortal does not give up his worldly entanglements; the Messenger of Death walks in and beats the drum. ||227||
ਕਬੀਰ ਤਰਵਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਫਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ॥
kabīr taravar rūpī rām hai phal rūpī bairāg .
Kabeer, the Lord is the tree, and disillusionment with the world is the fruit.
ਛਾਇਆ ਰੂਪੀ ਸਾਧੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਤਜਿਆ ਬਾਦੁ ਬਿਬਾਦੁ ॥੨੨੮॥
shāiā rūpī sādh hai jin tajiā bād bibād .228.
The Holy man, who has abandoned useless arguments, is the shade of the tree. ||228||
ਕਬੀਰ ਐਸਾ ਬੀਜੁ ਬੋਇ ਬਾਰਹ ਮਾਸ ਫਲੰਤ ॥
kabīr aisā bīj bōi bārah mās phalant .
Kabeer, plant the seeds of such a plant, which shall bear fruit throughout the twelve months,
ਸੀਤਲ ਛਾਇਆ ਗਹਿਰ ਫਲ ਪੰਖੀ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੰਤ ॥੨੨੯॥
sītal shāiā gahir phal pankhī kēl karant .229.
with cooling shade and abundant fruit, upon which birds joyously play. ||229||
ਕਬੀਰ ਦਾਤਾ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਦਯਾ ਫਲੁ ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਵੰਤ ॥
kabīr dātā taravar dayā phal upakārī jīvant .
Kabeer, the Great Giver is the tree, which blesses all with the fruit of compassion.
ਪੰਖੀ ਚਲੇ ਦਿਸਾਵਰੀ ਬਿਰਖਾ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲੰਤ ॥੨੩੦॥
pankhī chalē disāvarī birakhā suphal phalant .230.
When the birds migrate to other lands, O Tree, you bear the fruits. ||230||
ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਲਿਲਾਟ ॥
kabīr sādhū sang parāpatī likhiā hōi lilāt .
Kabeer, the mortal finds the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, if he has such destiny written upon his forehead.
