ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਉ ਮਾਂਨਈ ਹੋਇ ਗਈ ਭਠ ਛਾਰ ॥੧੯੫॥
bin sangat iu mānhnaī hōi gaī bhath shār .195.
You must acknowledge this, that without the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, it turns into burnt ashes. ||195||
ਕਬੀਰ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬੂੰਦ ਅਕਾਸ ਕੀ ਲੀਨੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
kabīr niramal būnd akās kī līnī bhūm milāi .
Kabeer, the pure drop of water falls from the sky, and mixes with the dust.
ਅਨਿਕ ਸਿਆਨੇ ਪਚਿ ਗਏ ਨਾ ਨਿਰਵਾਰੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੯੬॥
anik siānē pach gaē nā niravārī jāi .196.
Millions of clever people may try, but they will fail - it cannot be made separate again. ||196||
ਕਬੀਰ ਹਜ ਕਾਬੇ ਹਉ ਜਾਇ ਥਾ ਆਗੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
kabīr haj kābē hau jāi thā āgai miliā khudāi .
Kabeer, I was going on a pilgrimage to Mecca, and God met me on the way.
ਸਾਂਈ ਮੁਝ ਸਿਉ ਲਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਤੁਝੈ ਕਿਨ੍ਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੯੭॥
sānhī mujh siu lar pariā tujhai kinh phuramāī gāi .197.
He scolded me and asked, "Who told you that I am only there?"||197||
ਕਬੀਰ ਹਜ ਕਾਬੈ ਹੋਇ ਹੋਇ ਗਇਆ ਕੇਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਕਬੀਰ ॥
kabīr haj kābai hōi hōi gaiā kētī bār kabīr .
Kabeer, I went to Mecca - how many times, Kabeer?
ਸਾਂਈ ਮੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਖਤਾ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਨ ਬੋਲੈ ਪੀਰ ॥੧੯੮॥
sānhī mujh mah kiā khatā mukhah n bōlai pīr .198.
O Lord, what is the problem with me? You have not spoken to me with Your Mouth. ||198||
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਅ ਜੁ ਮਾਰਹਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਹਤੇ ਹਹਿ ਜੁ ਹਲਾਲੁ ॥
kabīr jī j mārah jōr kar kahatē hah j halāl .
Kabeer, they oppress living beings and kill them, and call it proper.
ਦਫਤਰੁ ਦਈ ਜਬ ਕਾਢਿ ਹੈ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਕਉਨੁ ਹਵਾਲੁ ॥੧੯੯॥
daphatar daī jab kādh hai hōigā kaun havāl .199.
When the Lord calls for their account, what will their condition be? ||199||
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੋਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਜੁਲਮੁ ਹੈ ਲੇਇ ਜਬਾਬੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
kabīr jōr kīā sō julam hai lēi jabāb khudāi .
Kabeer, it is tyranny to use force; the Lord shall call you to account.
ਦਫਤਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਨੀਕਸੈ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਹੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਖਾਇ ॥੨੦੦॥
daphatar lēkhā nīkasai mār muhai muh khāi .200.
When your account is called for, your face and mouth shall be beaten. ||200||
ਕਬੀਰ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਨਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜਉ ਦਿਲ ਸੂਚੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
kabīr lēkhā dēnā suhēlā jau dil sūchī hōi .
Kabeer, it is easy to render your account, if your heart is pure.
ਉਸੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਦੀਬਾਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਲਾ ਨ ਪਕਰੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨੦੧॥
us sāchē dībān mah palā n pakarai kōi .201.
In the True Court of the Lord, no one will seize you. ||201||
ਕਬੀਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਅਰੁ ਆਕਾਸ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਇ ਤੂੰ ਬਰੀ ਅਬਧ ॥
kabīr dharatī ar ākās mah dui tūn barī abadh .
Kabeer: O duality, you are mighty and powerful in the earth and the sky.
ਖਟ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੰਸੇ ਪਰੇ ਅਰੁ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਸਿਧ ॥੨੦੨॥
khat darasan sansē parē ar chaurāsīh sidh .202.
The six Shaastras and the eighty-four Siddhas are entrenched in skepticism. ||202||
ਕਬੀਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
kabīr mērā mujh mah kish nahī jō kish hai sō tērā .
Kabeer, nothing is mine within myself. Whatever there is, is Yours, O Lord.
ਤੇਰਾ ਤੁਝ ਕਉ ਸਉਪਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨੦੩॥
tērā tujh kau saupatē kiā lāgai mērā .203.
If I surrender to You what is already Yours, what does it cost me? ||203||
ਕਬੀਰ ਤੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਹੂਆ ਮੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਾ ਨ ਹੂੰ ॥
kabīr tūn tūn karatā tū hūā mujh mah rahā n hūn .
Kabeer, repeating, "You, You", I have become like You. Nothing of me remains in myself.
ਜਬ ਆਪਾ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤੂ ॥੨੦੪॥
jab āpā par kā mit gaiā jat dēkhau tat tū .204.
When the difference between myself and others is removed, then wherever I look, I see only You. ||204||
ਕਬੀਰ ਬਿਕਾਰਹ ਚਿਤਵਤੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਆਸ ॥
kabīr bikārah chitavatē jhūthē karatē ās .
Kabeer, those who think of evil and entertain false hopes
ਮਨੋਰਥੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪੂਰਿਓ ਚਾਲੇ ਊਠਿ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥੨੦੫॥
manōrath kōi n pūriō chālē ūth nirās .205.
- none of their desires shall be fulfilled; they shall depart in despair. ||205||
ਕਬੀਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
kabīr har kā simaran jō karai sō sukhīā sansār .
Kabeer, whoever meditates in remembrance on the Lord, he alone is happy in this world.
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਡੋਲਈ ਜਿਸ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ॥੨੦੬॥
it ut katah n dōlaī jis rākhai sirajanahār .206.
One who is protected and saved by the Creator Lord, shall never waver, here or hereafter. ||206||
ਕਬੀਰ ਘਾਣੀ ਪੀੜਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲੀਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
kabīr ghānī pīratē satigur līē shadāi .
Kabeer, I was being crushed like sesame seeds in the oil-press, but the True Guru saved me.
ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬਲੀ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ਆਇ ॥੨੦੭॥
parā pūrabalī bhāvanī paragat hōī āi .207.
My pre-ordained primal destiny has now been revealed. ||207||
ਕਬੀਰ ਟਾਲੈ ਟੋਲੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਿਆਜੁ ਬਢੰਤਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
kabīr tālai tōlai din gaiā biāj badhantau jāi .
Kabeer, my days have passed, and I have postponed my payments; the interest on my account continues to increase.
ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਿਓ ਨ ਖਤੁ ਫਟਿਓ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਹੂੰਚੋ ਆਇ ॥੨੦੮॥
nā har bhajiō n khat phatiō kāl pahūnchō āi .208.
I have not meditated on the Lord and my account is still pending, and now, the moment of my death has come! ||208||

Fifth Mehl:
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੂਕਰੁ ਭਉਕਨਾ ਕਰੰਗ ਪਿਛੈ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਇ ॥
kabīr kūkar bhaukanā karang pishai uth dhāi .
Kabeer, the mortal is a barking dog, chasing after a carcass.
ਕਰਮੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਉ ਲੀਆ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੨੦੯॥
karamī satigur pāiā jin hau līā shadāi .209.
By the Grace of good karma, I have found the True Guru, who has saved me. ||209||

Fifth Mehl:
ਕਬੀਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਤਸਕਰ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
kabīr dharatī sādh kī tasakar baisah gāh .
Kabeer, the earth belongs to the Holy, but it is being occupied by thieves.
ਧਰਤੀ ਭਾਰਿ ਨ ਬਿਆਪਈ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਲਾਹੂ ਲਾਹਿ ॥੨੧੦॥
dharatī bhār n biāpaī un kau lāhū lāh .210.
They are not a burden to the earth; they receive its blessings. ||210||

mahalā 5 .
Fifth Mehl:
ਕਬੀਰ ਚਾਵਲ ਕਾਰਨੇ ਤੁਖ ਕਉ ਮੁਹਲੀ ਲਾਇ ॥
kabīr chāval kāranē tukh kau muhalī lāi .
Kabeer, the rice is beaten with a mallet to get rid of the husk.
ਸੰਗਿ ਕੁਸੰਗੀ ਬੈਸਤੇ ਤਬ ਪੂਛੈ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੨੧੧॥
sang kusangī baisatē tab pūshai dharam rāi .211.
When people sit in evil company, the Righteous Judge of Dharma calls them to account. ||211||
ਨਾਮਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਮੀਤ ॥
nāmā māiā mōhiā kahai tilōchan mīt .
Trilochan says, O Naam Dayv, Maya has enticed you, my friend.
ਕਾਹੇ ਛੀਪਹੁ ਛਾਇਲੈ ਰਾਮ ਨ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਚੀਤੁ ॥੨੧੨॥
kāhē shīpah shāilai rām n lāvah chīt .212.
Why are you printing designs on these sheets, and not focusing your consciousness on the Lord? ||212||
ਨਾਮਾ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਲੋਚਨਾ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਹਾਲਿ ॥
nāmā kahai tilōchanā mukh tē rām sanmhāl .
Naam Dayv answers, O Trilochan, chant the Lord's Name with your mouth.
