ਜਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
jah sēvak gōpāl gusāī .
where the servants of the Lord of the World abide.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
prabh suprasann bhaē gōpāl .
God, the Lord of the World, is pleased and satisfied with me.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਬਿਤਾਲ ॥੫॥
janam janam kē mitē bitāl .5.
My disharmony with Him of so many lifetimes is ended. ||5||
ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਉਰਧ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
hōm jag uradh tap pūjā .
Burnt offerings, sacred feasts, intense meditations with the body upside-down, worship services
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੀਜਾ ॥
kōt tīrath isanān karījā .
and taking millions of cleansing baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਿਮਖ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
charan kamal nimakh ridai dhārē .
- the merits of all these are obtained by enshrining the Lord's Lotus Feet within the heart, even for an instant.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੬॥
gōbind japat sabh kāraj sārē .6.
Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, all one's affairs are resolved. ||6||
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
ūchē tē ūchā prabh thān .
God's Place is the highest of the high.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
har jan lāvah sahaj dhiān .
The Lord's humble servants intuitively focus their meditation on Him.
ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਂਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
dās dāsan kī bānhshau dhūr .
I long for the dust of the slaves of the Lord's slaves.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੭॥
sarab kalā prītam bharapūr .7.
My Beloved Lord is overflowing with all powers. ||7||
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
māt pitā har prītam nērā .
My Beloved Lord, my Mother and Father, is always near.
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
mīt sājan bharavāsā tērā .
O my Friend and Companion, You are my Trusted Support.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
kar gah līnē apunē dās .
God takes His slaves by the hand, and makes them His Own.
ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੮॥੩॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥
jap jīvai nānak gunatās .8.3.2.7.12.
Nanak lives by meditating on the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue. ||8||3||2||7||12||

My anxious fears of death and rebirth have been taken away.
ਆਪਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਹਜ ਪਰਗਾਸੀ ॥੧॥
āpan rang sahaj paragāsī .1.
The Celestial Lord has shown His Love for me. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
pragatī jōt mitiā andhiārā .
The Divine Light has dawned, and darkness has been dispelled.
ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rām ratan pāiā karat bīchārā .1. rahāu .
Contemplating the Lord, I have obtained the Jewel of His Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਹ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਇਆਨਾ ॥
jah anand dukh dūr paiānā .
Pain runs far away from that place where there is bliss.
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਕੁ ਲਿਵ ਤਤੁ ਲੁਕਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
man mānak liv tat lukānā .2.
The jewel of the mind is focused and attuned to the essence of reality. ||2||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
jō kish hōā s tērā bhānā .
Whatever happens is by the Pleasure of Your Will.
ਜੋ ਇਵ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੩॥
jō iv būjhai s sahaj samānā .3.
Whoever understands this, is intuitively merged in the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ਖੀਣਾ ॥
kahat kabīr kilabikh gaē khīnā .
Says Kabeer, my sins have been obliterated.
ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਲੀਣਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
man bhaiā jagajīvan līnā .4.1.
My mind has merged into the Lord, the Life of the World. ||4||1||

ਅਲਹੁ ਏਕੁ ਮਸੀਤਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਮੁਲਖੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਕੇਰਾ ॥
alah ēk masīt basat hai avar mulakh kis kērā .
If the Lord Allah lives only in the mosque, then to whom does the rest of the world belong?
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਦੁਹ ਮਹਿ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਹੇਰਾ ॥੧॥
hindū mūrat nām nivāsī duh mah tat n hērā .1.
According to the Hindus, the Lord's Name abides in the idol, but there is no truth in either of these claims. ||1||
ਅਲਹ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਵਉ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਈ ॥
alah rām jīvau tērē nāī .
O Allah, O Raam, I live by Your Name.
ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਹਰਾਮਤਿ ਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tū kar miharāmat sāī .1. rahāu .
Please show mercy to me, O Master. ||1||Pause||
ਦਖਨ ਦੇਸਿ ਹਰੀ ਕਾ ਬਾਸਾ ਪਛਿਮਿ ਅਲਹ ਮੁਕਾਮਾ ॥
dakhan dēs harī kā bāsā pashim alah mukāmā .
The God of the Hindus lives in the southern lands, and the God of the Muslims lives in the west.
ਦਿਲ ਮਹਿ ਖੋਜਿ ਦਿਲੈ ਦਿਲਿ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਏਹੀ ਠਉਰ ਮੁਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
dil mah khōj dilai dil khōjah ēhī thaur mukāmā .2.
So search in your heart - look deep into your heart of hearts; this is the home and the place where God lives. ||2||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨ ਗਿਆਸ ਕਰਹਿ ਚਉਬੀਸਾ ਕਾਜੀ ਮਹ ਰਮਜਾਨਾ ॥
brahaman giās karah chaubīsā kājī mah ramajānā .
The Brahmins observe twenty-four fasts during the year, and the Muslims fast during the month of Ramadaan.
ਗਿਆਰਹ ਮਾਸ ਪਾਸ ਕੈ ਰਾਖੇ ਏਕੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
giārah mās pās kai rākhē ēkai māh nidhānā .3.
The Muslims set aside eleven months, and claim that the treasure is only in the one month. ||3||
ਕਹਾ ਉਡੀਸੇ ਮਜਨੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਮਸੀਤਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਨਾਂਏਂ ॥
kahā udīsē majan kīā kiā masīt sir nānhēnh .
What is the use of bathing at Orissa? Why do the Muslims bow their heads in the mosque?
ਦਿਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰੈ ਕਿਆ ਹਜ ਕਾਬੈ ਜਾਂਏਂ ॥੪॥
dil mah kapat nivāj gujārai kiā haj kābai jānhēnh .4.
If someone has deception in his heart, what good is it for him to utter prayers? And what good is it for him to go on pilgrimage to Mecca? ||4||
ਏਤੇ ਅਉਰਤ ਮਰਦਾ ਸਾਜੇ ਏ ਸਭ ਰੂਪ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਾਰੇ ॥
ētē aurat maradā sājē ē sabh rūp tumhārē .
You fashioned all these men and women, Lord. All these are Your Forms.
ਕਬੀਰੁ ਪੂੰਗਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਅਲਹ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
kabīr pūngarā rām alah kā sabh gur pīr hamārē .5.
Kabeer is the child of God, Allah, Raam. All the Gurus and prophets are mine. ||5||
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਨਰ ਨਰਵੈ ਪਰਹੁ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
kahat kabīr sunah nar naravai parah ēk kī saranā .
Says Kabeer, listen, O men and women: seek the Sanctuary of the One.
ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਨਿਹਚੈ ਤਰਨਾ ॥੬॥੨॥
kēval nām japah rē prānī tab hī nihachai taranā .6.2.
Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mortals, and you shall surely be carried across. ||6||2||

ਅਵਲਿ ਅਲਹ ਨੂਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੇ ॥
aval alah nūr upāiā kudarat kē sabh bandē .
First, Allah created the Light; then, by His Creative Power, He made all mortal beings.
ਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ॥੧॥
ēk nūr tē sabh jag upajiā kaun bhalē kō mandē .1.
From the One Light, the entire universe welled up. So who is good, and who is bad? ||1||
