Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
kīnī daiā gōpāl gusāī .
The Life of the World, the Sustainer of the Earth, has showered His Mercy;
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਵਸੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
gur kē charan vasē man māhī .
the Guru's Feet have come to dwell within my mind.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
angīkār kīā tin karatai dukh kā dērā dhāhiā jīu .1.
The Creator has made me His Own. He has destroyed the city of sorrow. ||1||
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
man tan vasiā sachā sōī .
The True One abides within my mind and body;
ਬਿਖੜਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
bikharā thān n disai kōī .
no place seems difficult to me now.
ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਮਣ ਸਭਿ ਸਜਣ ਹੋਏ ਏਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dūt dusaman sabh sajan hōē ēkō suāmī āhiā jīu .2.
All the evil-doers and enemies have now become my friends. I long only for my Lord and Master. ||2||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥
jō kish karē s āpē āpai .
Whatever He does, He does all by Himself.
ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
budh siānap kishū n jāpai .
No one can know His Ways.
ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਲਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
āpaniā santā nō āp sahāī prabh bharam bhulāvā lāhiā jīu .3.
He Himself is the Helper and Support of His Saints. God has cast out my doubts and delusions. ||3||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
charan kamal jan kā ādhārō .
His Lotus Feet are the Support of His humble servants.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ॥
āth pahar rām nām vāpārō .
Twenty-four hours a day, they deal in the Name of the Lord.
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੩॥
sahaj anand gāvah gun gōvind prabh nānak sarab samāhiā jīu .4.36.43.
In peace and pleasure, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. O Nanak, God is permeating everywhere. ||4||36||43||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
sō sach mandar jit sach dhiāīai .
True is that temple, within which one meditates on the True Lord.
ਸੋ ਰਿਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
sō ridā suhēlā jit har gun gāīai .
Blessed is that heart, within which the Lord's Glorious Praises are sung.
ਸਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
sā dharat suhāvī jit vasah har jan sachē nām vitah kurabānō jīu .1.
Beautiful is that land, where the Lord's humble servants dwell. I am a sacrifice to the True Name. ||1||
ਸਚੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
sach vadāī kīm n pāī .
The extent of the True Lord's Greatness cannot be known.
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
kudarat karam n kahanā jāī .
His Creative Power and His Bounties cannot be described.
ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhiāi dhiāi jīvah jan tērē sach sabad man mānō jīu .2.
Your humble servants live by meditating, meditating on You. Their minds treasure the True Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sach sālāhan vadabhāgī pāīai .
The Praises of the True One are obtained by great good fortune.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
gur parasādī har gun gāīai .
By Guru's Grace, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
rang ratē tērai tudh bhāvah sach nām nīsānō jīu .3.
Those who are imbued with Your Love are pleasing to You. The True Name is their Banner and Insignia. ||3||
ਸਚੇ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
sachē ant n jānai kōī .
No one knows the limits of the True Lord.
ਥਾਨਿ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
thān thanantar sachā sōī .
In all places and interspaces, the True One is pervading.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੪॥
nānak sach dhiāīai sad hī antarajāmī jānō jīu .4.37.44.
O Nanak, meditate forever on the True One, the Searcher of hearts, the Knower of all. ||4||37||44||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
rain suhāvarī dinas suhēlā .
Beautiful is the night, and beautiful is the day,
ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
jap anmrit nām santasang mēlā .
when one joins the Society of the Saints and chants the Ambrosial Naam.
ਘੜੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਲ ਵੰਞਹਿ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਿਥਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gharī mūrat simarat pal vanñah jīvan saphal tithāī jīu .1.
If you remember the Lord in meditation for a moment, even for an instant, then your life will become fruitful and prosperous. ||1||
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੋਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
simarat nām dōkh sabh lāthē .
Remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all sinful mistakes are erased.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
antar bāhar har prabh sāthē .
Inwardly and outwardly, the Lord God is always with us.
ਭੈ ਭਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
bhai bhau bharam khōiā gur pūrai dēkhā sabhanī jāī jīu .2.
Fear, dread and doubt have been dispelled by the Perfect Guru; now, I see God everywhere. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਡ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
prabh samarath vad ūch apārā .
God is All-powerful, Vast, Lofty and Infinite.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
nau nidh nām bharē bhandārā .
The Naam is overflowing with the nine treasures.
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
ād ant madh prabh sōī dūjā lavai n lāī jīu .3.
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, there is God. Nothing else even comes close to Him. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
kar kirapā mērē dīn daiālā .
Take pity on me, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek.
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥
jāchik jāchai sādh ravālā .
I am a beggar, begging for the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੫॥
dēh dān nānak jan māgai sadā sadā har dhiāī jīu .4.38.45.
Servant Nanak begs for this gift: let me meditate on the Lord, forever and ever. ||4||38||45||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਐਥੈ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਆਗੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
aithai tūnhai āgai āpē .
You are here, and You are hereafter.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਥਾਪੇ ॥
jī jantr sabh tērē thāpē .
All beings and creatures were created by You.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਤੇ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tudh bin avar n kōī karatē mai dhar ōt tumārī jīu .1.
Without You, there is no other, O Creator. You are my Support and my Protection. ||1||
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
rasanā jap jap jīvai suāmī .
The tongue lives by chanting and meditating on the Lord's Name.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
pārabraham prabh antarajāmī .
The Supreme Lord God is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
jin sēviā tin hī sukh pāiā sō janam n jūai hārī jīu .2.
Those who serve the Lord find peace; they do not lose their lives in the gamble. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
nām avakhadh jin jan tērai pāiā .
