ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
janam janam kā rōg gavāiā .
is rid of the illnesses of countless lifetimes and incarnations.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਏਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har kīratan gāvah din rātī saphal ēhā hai kārī jīu .3.
So sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, day and night. This is the most fruitful occupation. ||3||
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
drisat dhār apanā dās savāriā .
Bestowing His Glance of Grace, He has adorned His slave.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
ghat ghat antar pārabraham namasakāriā .
Deep within each and every heart, the Supreme Lord is humbly worshipped.
ਇਕਸੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੪੬॥
ikas vin hōr dūjā nāhī bābā nānak ih mat sārī jīu .4.39.46.
Without the One, there is no other at all. O Baba Nanak, this is the most excellent wisdom. ||4||39||46||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
mājh mahalā 5 .
Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
man tan ratā rām piārē .
My mind and body are imbued with love for the Lord.
ਸਰਬਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਵਾਰੇ ॥
sarabas dījai apanā vārē .
I sacrifice everything for Him.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
āth pahar gōvind gun gāīai bisar n kōī sāsā jīu .1.
Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. Do not forget Him, for even one breath. ||1||
ਸੋਈ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
sōī sājan mīt piārā .
He is a companion, a friend, and a beloved of mine,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
rām nām sādhasang bīchārā .
who reflects upon the Lord's Name, in the Company of the Holy.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੀਜੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
sādhū sang tarījai sāgar katīai jam kī phāsā jīu .2.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, cross over the world-ocean, and the noose of death shall be cut away. ||2||
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
chār padārath har kī sēvā .
The four cardinal blessings are obtained by serving the Lord.
ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥
pārajāt jap alakh abhēvā .
The Elysian Tree, the source of all blessings, is meditation on the Unseen and Unknowable Lord.
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
kām krōdh kilabikh gur kātē pūran hōī āsā jīu .3.
The Guru has cut out the sinful mistakes of sexual desire and anger, and my hopes have been fulfilled. ||3||
ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ਭਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
pūran bhāg bhaē jis prānī . sādhasang milē sārangapānī .
That mortal who is blessed by perfect destiny meets the Lord, the Sustainer of the Universe, in the Company of the Holy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੪੭॥
nānak nām vasiā jis antar paravān girasat udāsā jīu .4.40.47.
O Nanak, if the Naam, the Name of the Lord, dwells within the mind, one is approved and accepted, whether he is a house-holder or a renunciate. ||4||40||47||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
mājh mahalā 5 .
Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
simarat nām ridai sukh pāiā .
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, my heart is filled with peace.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapā bhagatīnh pragatāiā .
By His Grace, His devotees become famous and acclaimed.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਆਲਸ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
santasang mil har har japiā binasē ālas rōgā jīu .1.
Joining the Society of the Saints, I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; the disease of laziness has disappeared. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
jā kai grih nav nidh har bhāī .
O Siblings of Destiny, the nine treasures are found in the Home of the Lord;
ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
tis miliā jis purab kamāī .
He comes to meet those who deserve it by their past actions.
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
giān dhiān pūran paramēsur prabh sabhanā galā jōgā jīu .2.
The Perfect Transcendent Lord is spiritual wisdom and meditation. God is All-powerful to do all things. ||2||
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
khin mah thāp uthāpanahārā .
In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes.
ਆਪਿ ਇਕੰਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
āp ikantī āp pasārā .
He Himself is the One, and He Himself is the Many.
ਲੇਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਡਿਠੇ ਲਹਨਿ ਵਿਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
lēp nahī jagajīvan dātē darasan dithē lahan vijōgā jīu .3.
Filth does not stick to the Giver, the Life of the World. Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, the pain of separation departs. ||3||
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਤਰਾਈ ॥
anchal lāi sabh sisat tarāī .
Holding on to the hem of His Robe, the entire Universe is saved.
ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਈ ॥
āpanā nāu āp japāī .
He Himself causes His Name to be chanted.
ਗੁਰ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੪੮॥
gur bōhith pāiā kirapā tē nānak dhur sanjōgā jīu .4.41.48.
The Boat of the Guru is found by His Grace; O Nanak, such blessed destiny is pre-ordained. ||4||41||48||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
mājh mahalā 5 .
Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
sōī karanā j āp karāē .
People do whatever the Lord inspires them to do.
ਜਿਥੈ ਰਖੈ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
jithai rakhai sā bhalī jāē .
Wherever He keeps us is a good place.
ਸੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
sōī siānā sō pativantā hukam lagai jis mīthā jīu .1.
That person is clever and honorable, unto whom the Hukam of the Lord's Command seems sweet. ||1||
ਸਭ ਪਰੋਈ ਇਕਤੁ ਧਾਗੈ ॥
sabh parōī ikat dhāgai .
Everything is strung upon the One String of the Lord.
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
jis lāi laē sō charanī lāgai .
Those whom the Lord attaches, are attached to His Feet.
ਊਂਧ ਕਵਲੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
ūnhdh kaval jis hōi pragāsā tin sarab niranjan dīthā jīu .2.
Those, whose inverted lotus of the crown chakra is illuminated, see the Immaculate Lord everywhere. ||2||
ਤੇਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
tērī mahimā tūnhai jānah .
Only You Yourself know Your Glory.
ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
apanā āp tūn āp pashānah .
You Yourself recognize Your Own Self.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਪੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
hau balihārī santan tērē jin kām krōdh lōbh pīthā jīu .3.
I am a sacrifice to Your Saints, who have crushed their sexual desire, anger and greed. ||3||
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ॥
tūn niravair sant tērē niramal .
You have no hatred or vengeance; Your Saints are immaculate and pure.
ਜਿਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਕਲਮਲ ॥
jin dēkhē sabh utarah kalamal .
Seeing them, all sins depart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਧੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੪੯॥
nānak nām dhiāi dhiāi jīvai binasiā bhram bhau dhīthā jīu .4.42.49.
Nanak lives by meditating, meditating on the Naam. His stubborn doubt and fear have departed. ||4||42||49||
