ਬੂਝਤ ਦੀਪਕ ਮਿਲਤ ਤਿਲਤ ॥
būjhat dīpak milat tilat .
It is like oil to the lamp whose flame is dying out.
ਜਲਤ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਨੀਰ ॥
jalat aganī milat nīr .
It is like water poured on the burning fire.
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਮੁਖਹਿ ਖੀਰ ॥੧॥
jaisē bārik mukhah khīr .1.
It is like milk poured into the baby's mouth. ||1||
ਜੈਸੇ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਸਖਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ॥
jaisē ran mah sakhā bhrāt .
As one's brother becomes a helper on the field of battle;
ਜੈਸੇ ਭੂਖੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਮਾਤ ॥
jaisē bhūkhē bhōjan māt .
as one's hunger is satisfied by food;
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਿਰਖਹਿ ਬਰਸ ਮੇਘ ॥
jaisē kirakhah baras mēgh .
as the cloudburst saves the crops;
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਲਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੇਂਘ ॥੨॥
jaisē pālan saran sēnhgh .2.
as one is protected in the tiger's lair;||2||
ਗਰੁੜ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਰਪ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
garur mukh nahī sarap trās .
As with the magic spell of Garuda the eagle upon one's lips, one does not fear the snake;
ਸੂਆ ਪਿੰਜਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਖਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਸੁ ॥
sūā pinjar nahī khāi bilās .
as the cat cannot eat the parrot in its cage;
ਜੈਸੋ ਆਂਡੋ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
jaisō ānhdō hiradē māh .
as the bird cherishes her eggs in her heart;
ਜੈਸੋ ਦਾਨੋ ਚਕੀ ਦਰਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
jaisō dānō chakī darāh .3.
as the grains are spared, by sticking to the central post of the mill;||3||
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਓਪਮਾ ਥੋਰ ਕਹੀ ॥
bahut ōpamā thōr kahī .
Your Glory is so great; I can describe only a tiny bit of it.
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਤੁਹੀ ॥
har agam agam agādh tuhī .
O Lord, You are inaccessible, unapproachable and unfathomable.
ਊਚ ਮੂਚੌ ਬਹੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ūch mūchau bah apār .
You are lofty and high, utterly great and infinite.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਰ ॥੪॥੩॥
simarat nānak tarē sār .4.3.
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, O Nanak, one is carried across. ||4||3||

ਇਹੀ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਸਫਲ ਕਾਜ ॥

Please let my works be rewarding and fruitful.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apunē dās kau lēh nivāj .1. rahāu .
Please cherish and exalt Your slave. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਸੰਤਹ ਮਾਥ ਮੋਰ ॥
charan santah māth mōr .
I lay my forehead on the feet of the Saints,
ਨੈਨਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਉ ਨਿਸਿ ਭੋਰ ॥
nain daras pēkhau nis bhōr .
and with my eyes, I gaze upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, day and night.
ਹਸਤ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲ ॥
hasat hamarē sant tahal .
With my hands, I work for the Saints.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਬਹਲ ॥੧॥
prān man dhan sant bahal .1.
I dedicate my breath of life, my mind and wealth to the Saints. ||1||
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
santasang mērē man kī prīt .
My mind loves the Society of the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਗੁਨ ਬਸਹਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
sant gun basah mērai chīt .
The Virtues of the Saints abide within my consciousness.
ਸੰਤ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੀਠ ॥
sant āgiā manah mīth .
The Will of the Saints is sweet to my mind.
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸੰਤ ਡੀਠ ॥੨॥
mērā kamal bigasai sant dīth .2.
Seeing the Saints, my heart-lotus blossoms forth. ||2||
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
santasang mērā hōi nivās .
I dwell in the Society of the Saints.
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
santan kī mōh bahut piās .
I have such a great thirst for the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਬਚਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੰਤ ॥
sant bachan mērē manah mant .
The Words of the Saints are the Mantras of my mind.
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੰਤ ॥੩॥
sant prasād mērē bikhai hant .3.
By the Grace of the Saints, my corruption is taken away. ||3||
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਏਹਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
mukat jugat ēhā nidhān .
This way of liberation is my treasure.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨ ॥
prabh daiāl mōh dēvah dān .
O Merciful God, please bless me with this gift.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
nānak kau prabh daiā dhār .
O God, shower Your Mercy upon Nanak.
ਚਰਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੪॥
charan santan kē mērē ridē majhār .4.4.
I have enshrined the feet of the Saints within my heart. ||4||4||

ਸਭ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
sabh kai sangī nāhī dūr .
He is with all; He is not far away.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਹਾਜਰਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karāvan hājarā hajūr .1. rahāu .
He is the Cause of causes, ever-present here and now. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਨਤ ਜੀਓ ਜਾਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
sunat jīō jās nām .
Hearing His Name, one comes to life.
ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਓ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
dukh binasē sukh kīō bisrām .
Pain is dispelled; peace and tranquility come to dwell within.
ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
sagal nidh har har harē .
The Lord, Har, Har, is all treasure.
ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
mun jan tā kī sēv karē .1.
The silent sages serve Him. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
jā kai ghar sagalē samāh .
Everything is contained in His home.
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jis tē birathā kōi nāh .
No one is turned away empty-handed.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
jī jantr karē pratipāl .
He cherishes all beings and creatures.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੨॥
sadā sadā sēvah kirapāl .2.
Forever and ever, serve the Merciful Lord. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦੀਬਾਣਿ ॥
sadā dharam jā kai dībān .
Righteous justice is dispensed in His Court forever.
ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਣਿ ॥
bēmuhatāj nahī kish kān .
He is carefree, and owes allegiance to no one.
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਨਾ ਆਪਨ ਆਪਿ ॥
sabh kish karanā āpan āp .
He Himself, by Himself, does everything.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੩॥
rē man mērē tū tā kau jāp .3.
O my mind, meditate on Him. ||3||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
sādhasangat kau hau balihār .
I am a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜਾਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
jās mil hōvai udhār .
Joining them, I am saved.
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਤਨਹਿ ਰਾਤ ॥
nām sang man tanah rāt .
My mind and body are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੫॥
nānak kau prabh karī dāt .4.5.
God has blessed Nanak with this gift. ||4||5||

ਹਰਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
har samarath kī saranā .
I seek the Sanctuary of the all-powerful Lord.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jīu pind dhan rās mērī prabh ēk kāran karanā .1. rahāu .
My soul, body, wealth and capital belong to the One God, the Cause of causes. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੀਵਣੈ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
simar simar sadā sukh pāīai jīvanai kā mūl .
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on Him, I have found everlasting peace. He is the source of life.
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ ਠਾਈ ਸੂਖਮੋ ਅਸਥੂਲ ॥੧॥
rav rahiā sarabat thāī sūkhamō asathūl .1.
He is all-pervading, permeating all places; He is in subtle essence and manifest form. ||1||
