ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰੇ ਆਪਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
āpē jānai karē āp jin vārī hai lāī .1.
He Himself knows, and He Himself acts; He laid out the garden of the world. ||1||
ਰਾਇਸਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾ ਰਾਇਸਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rāisā piārē kā rāisā jit sadā sukh hōī . rahāu .
Savor the story, the story of the Beloved Lord, which brings a lasting peace. ||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸਾ ਪਛੋ ਰੇ ਤਾਣੀ ॥
jin rang kant n rāviā sā pashō rē tānī .
She who does not enjoy the Love of her Husband Lord, shall come to regret and repent in the end.
ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਧੁਣੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
hāth pashōrai sir dhunai jab rain vihānī .2.
She wrings her hands, and bangs her head, when the night of her life has passed away. ||2||
ਪਛੋਤਾਵਾ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਬ ਚੂਕੈਗੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
pashōtāvā nā milai jab chūkaigī sārī .
Nothing comes from repentance, when the game is already finished.
ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਜਬ ਆਵੈਗੀ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
tā phir piārā rāvīai jab āvaigī vārī .3.
She shall have the opportunity to enjoy her Beloved, only when her turn comes again. ||3||
ਕੰਤੁ ਲੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੈ ਤੇ ਵਧਵੀ ਏਹ ॥
kant līā sōhāganī mai tē vadhavī ēh .
The happy soul-bride attains her Husband Lord - she is so much better than I am.
ਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਕੈ ਜੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇਹ ॥੪॥
sē gun mujhai n āvanī kai jī dōs dharēh .4.
I have none of her merits or virtues; whom should I blame? ||4||
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉਗੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
jinī sakhī sah rāviā tin pūshaugī jāē .
I shall go and ask those sisters who have enjoyed their Husband Lord.
ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਉ ਲੇਉਗੀ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੫॥
pāi lagau bēnatī karau lēugī panth batāē .5.
I touch their feet, and ask them to show me the Path. ||5||
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
hukam pashānai nānakā bhau chandan lāvai .
She who understands the Hukam of His Command, O Nanak, applies the Fear of God as her sandalwood oil;
ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
gun kāman kāman karai tau piārē kau pāvai .6.
she charms her Beloved with her virtue, and so obtains Him. ||6||
ਜੋ ਦਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਸੋਈ ॥
jō dil miliā s mil rahiā miliā kahīai rē sōī .
She who meets her Beloved in her heart, remains united with Him; this is truly called union.
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਾਤੀ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੭॥
jē bahutērā lōchīai bātī mēl n hōī .7.
As much as she may long for Him, she shall not meet Him through mere words. ||7||
ਧਾਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਕਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਿਵੈ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
dhāt milai phun dhāt kau liv livai kau dhāvai .
As metal melts into metal again, so does love melt into love.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਤਉ ਅਨਭਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
gur parasādī jānīai tau anabhau pāvai .8.
By Guru's Grace, this understanding is obtained, and then, one obtains the Fearless Lord. ||8||
ਪਾਨਾ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੋਇ ਘਰਿ ਖਰੁ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
pānā vārī hōi ghar khar sār n jānai .
There may be an orchard of betel nut trees in the garden, but the donkey does not appreciate its value.
ਰਸੀਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਸਕ ਕਾ ਤਬ ਫੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੯॥
rasīā hōvai musak kā tab phūl pashānai .9.
If someone savors a fragrance, then he can truly appreciate its flower. ||9||
ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
apiu pīvai jō nānakā bhram bhram samāvai .
One who drinks in the ambrosia, O Nanak, abandons his doubts and wanderings.
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੦॥੧॥
sahajē sahajē mil rahai amarā pad pāvai .10.1.
Easily and intuitively, he remains blended with the Lord, and obtains the immortal status. ||10||1||

Tilang, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਆ ॥
har kīā kathā kahānīā gur mīt sunāīā .
The Guru, my friend, has told me the stories and the sermon of the Lord.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਆ ॥੧॥
balihārī gur āpanē gur kau bal jāīā .1.
I am a sacrifice to my Guru; to the Guru, I am a sacrifice. ||1||
ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
āi mil gurasikh āi mil tū mērē gurū kē piārē . rahāu .
Come, join with me, O Sikh of the Guru, come and join with me. You are my Guru's Beloved. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
har kē gun har bhāvadē sē gurū tē pāē .
The Glorious Praises of the Lord are pleasing to the Lord; I have obtained them from the Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
jin gur kā bhānā manniā tin ghum ghum jāē .2.
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those who surrender to, and obey the Guru's Will. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥
jin satigur piārā dēkhiā tin kau hau vārī .
I am dedicated and devoted to those who gaze upon the Beloved True Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
jin gur kī kītī chākarī tin sad balihārī .3.
I am forever a sacrifice to those who perform service for the Guru. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har har tērā nām hai dukh mētanahārā .
Your Name, O Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of sorrow.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
gur sēvā tē pāīai guramukh nisatārā .4.
Serving the Guru, it is obtained, and as Gurmukh, one is emancipated. ||4||
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
jō har nām dhiāidē tē jan paravānā .
Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord's Name, are celebrated and acclaimed.
ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
tin vitah nānak vāriā sadā sadā kurabānā .5.
Nanak is a sacrifice to them, forever and ever a devoted sacrifice. ||5||
ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
sā har tērī usatat hai jō har prabh bhāvai .
O Lord, that alone is Praise to You, which is pleasing to Your Will, O Lord God.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
jō guramukh piārā sēvadē tin har phal pāvai .6.
Those Gurmukhs, who serve their Beloved Lord, obtain Him as their reward. ||6||
ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
jinā har sētī piraharī tinā jī prabh nālē .
Those who cherish love for the Lord, their souls are always with God.
ਓਇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥੭॥
ōi jap jap piārā jīvadē har nām samālē .7.
Chanting and meditating on their Beloved, they live in, and gather in, the Lord's Name. ||7||
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
jin guramukh piārā sēviā tin kau ghum jāiā .
I am a sacrifice to those Gurmukhs who serve their Beloved Lord.
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਛੁਟੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਿਉ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
ōi āp shutē paravār siu sabh jagat shadāiā .8.
They themselves are saved, along with their families, and through them, all the world is saved. ||8||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੋ ॥
gur piārai har sēviā gur dhann gur dhannō .
My Beloved Guru serves the Lord. Blessed is the Guru, Blessed is the Guru.
ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੋ ॥੯॥
gur har mārag dasiā gur punn vad punnō .9.
The Guru has shown me the Lord's Path; the Guru has done the greatest good deed. ||9||
