ਨਾ ਮਨੀਆਰੁ ਨ ਚੂੜੀਆ ਨਾ ਸੇ ਵੰਗੁੜੀਆਹਾ ॥
nā manīār n chūrīā nā sē vangurīāhā .
You don't have the bracelets of gold, nor the good crystal jewelry; you haven't dealt with the true jeweller.
ਜੋ ਸਹ ਕੰਠਿ ਨ ਲਗੀਆ ਜਲਨੁ ਸਿ ਬਾਹੜੀਆਹਾ ॥
jō sah kanth n lagīā jalan s bāharīāhā .
Those arms, which do not embrace the neck of the Husband Lord, burn in anguish.
ਸਭਿ ਸਹੀਆ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਣਿ ਗਈਆ ਹਉ ਦਾਧੀ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਜਾਵਾ ॥
sabh sahīā sah rāvan gaīā hau dādhī kai dar jāvā .
All my companions have gone to enjoy their Husband Lord; which door should I, the wretched one, go to?
ਅੰਮਾਲੀ ਹਉ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਚਜੀ ਤੈ ਸਹ ਏਕਿ ਨ ਭਾਵਾ ॥
anmālī hau kharī suchajī tai sah ēk n bhāvā .
O friend, I may look very attractive, but I am not pleasing to my Husband Lord at all.
ਮਾਠਿ ਗੁੰਦਾਈਂ ਪਟੀਆ ਭਰੀਐ ਮਾਗ ਸੰਧੂਰੇ ॥
māth gundāīnh patīā bharīai māg sandhūrē .
I have woven my hair into lovely braids, and saturated their partings with vermillion;
ਅਗੈ ਗਈ ਨ ਮੰਨੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਸੂਰਿ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥
agai gaī n mannīā marau visūr visūrē .
but when I go before Him, I am not accepted, and I die, suffering in anguish.
ਮੈ ਰੋਵੰਦੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਰੁਨਾ ਰੁੰਨੜੇ ਵਣਹੁ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ॥
mai rōvandī sabh jag runā runnarē vanah pankhērū .
I weep; the whole world weeps; even the birds of the forest weep with me.
ਇਕੁ ਨ ਰੁਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਕਾ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਉ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਵਿਛੋੜੀ ॥
ik n runā mērē tan kā birahā jin hau pirah vishōrī .
The only thing which doesn't weep is my body's sense of separateness, which has separated me from my Lord.
ਸੁਪਨੈ ਆਇਆ ਭੀ ਗਇਆ ਮੈ ਜਲੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਰੋਇ ॥
supanai āiā bhī gaiā mai jal bhariā rōi .
In a dream, He came, and went away again; I cried so many tears.
ਆਇ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਤੁਝ ਕਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭੇਜਿ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
āi n sakā tujh kan piārē bhēj n sakā kōi .
I can't come to You, O my Beloved, and I can't send anyone to You.
ਆਉ ਸਭਾਗੀ ਨੀਦੜੀਏ ਮਤੁ ਸਹੁ ਦੇਖਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
āu sabhāgī nīdarīē mat sah dēkhā sōi .
Come to me, O blessed sleep - perhaps I will see my Husband Lord again.
ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਜਿ ਆਖੈ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
tai sāhib kī bāt j ākhai kah nānak kiā dījai .
One who brings me a message from my Lord and Master - says Nanak, what shall I give to Him?
ਸੀਸੁ ਵਢੇ ਕਰਿ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਿਰ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
sīs vadhē kar baisan dījai vin sir sēv karījai .
Cutting off my head, I give it to Him to sit upon; without my head, I shall still serve Him.
ਕਿਉ ਨ ਮਰੀਜੈ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਨ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਾ ਸਹੁ ਭਇਆ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ ॥੧॥੩॥
kiu n marījai jīarā n dījai jā sah bhaiā vidānā .1.3.
Why haven't I died? Why hasn't my life just ended? My Husband Lord has become a stranger to me. ||1||3||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮਨਿ ਮੈਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਤਨਿ ਧੋਤੈ ਮਨੁ ਹਛਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
man mailai sabh kish mailā tan dhōtai man hashā n hōi .
When the mind is filthy, everything is filthy; by washing the body, the mind is not cleaned.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
ih jagat bharam bhulāiā viralā būjhai kōi .1.
This world is deluded by doubt; how rare are those who understand this. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
jap man mērē tū ēkō nām .
O my mind, chant the One Name.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur dīā mō kau ēh nidhān .1. rahāu .
The True Guru has given me this treasure. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਧਾ ਕੇ ਆਸਣ ਜੇ ਸਿਖੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
sidhā kē āsan jē sikhai indrī vas kar kamāi .
Even if one learns the Yogic postures of the Siddhas, and holds his sexual energy in check,
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
man kī mail n utarai haumai mail n jāi .2.
still, the filth of the mind is not removed, and the filth of egotism is not eliminated. ||2||
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਰੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥
is man kau hōr sanjam kō nāhī vin satigur kī saranāi .
This mind is not controlled by any other discipline, except the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਉਲਟੀ ਭਈ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
satagur miliai ulatī bhaī kahanā kishū n jāi .3.
Meeting the True Guru, one is transformed beyond description. ||3||
ਭਣਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਦੋ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
bhanat nānak satigur kau miladō marai gur kai sabad phir jīvai kōi .
Prays Nanak, one who dies upon meeting the True Guru, shall be rejuvenated through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਮਮਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਛਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੧॥
mamatā kī mal utarai ih man hashā hōi .4.1.
The filth of his attachment and possessiveness shall depart, and his mind shall become pure. ||4||1||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
vadahans mahalā 3 .
Wadahans, Third Mehl:
ਨਦਰੀ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਨਦਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
nadarī satagur sēvīai nadarī sēvā hōi .
By His Grace, one serves the True Guru; by His Grace, service is performed.
ਨਦਰੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਵੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
nadarī ih man vas āvai nadarī man niramal hōi .1.
By His grace, this mind is controlled, and by His Grace, it becomes pure. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਚੇਤਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
mērē man chēt sachā sōi .
O my mind, think of the True Lord.
ਏਕੋ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਮੂਲੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ēkō chētah tā sukh pāvah phir dūkh n mūlē hōi .1. rahāu .
Think of the One Lord, and you shall obtain peace; you shall never suffer in sorrow again. ||1||Pause||
ਨਦਰੀ ਮਰਿ ਕੈ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
nadarī mar kai jīvīai nadarī sabad vasai man āi .
By His Grace, one dies while yet alive, and by His Grace, the Word of the Shabad is enshrined in the mind.
ਨਦਰੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
nadarī hukam bujhīai hukamē rahai samāi .2.
By His Grace, one understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command, and by His Command, one merges into the Lord. ||2||
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਖਿਓ ਸਾ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
jin jihavā har ras n chakhiō sā jihavā jal jāu .
That tongue, which does not savor the sublime essence of the Lord - may that tongue be burned off!
ਅਨ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੇ ਲਗਿ ਰਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੩॥
an ras sādē lag rahī dukh pāiā dūjai bhāi .3.
It remains attached to other pleasures, and through the love of duality, it suffers in pain. ||3||
ਸਭਨਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਏਕ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਫਰਕੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
sabhanā nadar ēk hai āpē pharak karēi .
The One Lord grants His Grace to all; He Himself makes distinctions.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
nānak satagur miliai phal pāiā nām vadāī dēi .4.2.
O Nanak, meeting the True Guru, the fruits are obtained, and one is blessed with the Glorious Greatness of the Naam. ||4||2||
