ਜਿਚਰੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿ ਕਰੇਗੁ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
jichar vich danm hai tichar n chētaī k karēg agai jāi .
As long as there is breath in the body, he does not remember the Lord; what will he do in the world hereafter?
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਚੇਤੰਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
giānī hōi s chētann hōi agiānī andh kamāi .
One who remembers the Lord is a spiritual teacher; the ignorant one acts blindly.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਅਗੈ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
nānak ēthai kamāvai sō milai agai pāē jāi .1.
O Nanak, whatever one does in this world, determines what he shall receive in the world hereafter. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਧੁਰਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਇਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
dhur khasamai kā hukam paiā vin satigur chētiā n jāi .
From the very beginning, it has been the Will of the Lord Master, that He cannot be remembered without the True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
satigur miliai antar rav rahiā sadā rahiā liv lāi .
Meeting the True Guru, he realizes that the Lord is permeating and pervading deep within him; he remains forever absorbed in the Lord's Love.
ਦਮਿ ਦਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਦਾ ਦੰਮੁ ਨ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
dam dam sadā samāladā danm n birathā jāi .
With each and every breath, he constantly remembers the Lord in meditation; not a single breath passes in vain.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
janam maran kā bhau gaiā jīvan padavī pāi .
His fears of birth and death depart, and he obtains the honored state of eternal life.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak ih maratabā tis nō dēi jis nō kirapā karē rajāi .2.
O Nanak, He bestows this rank upon that mortal, upon whom He showers His Mercy. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨਾਂ ਬੀਨਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਧਾਨਾਂ ॥
āpē dānānh bīniā āpē paradhānānh .
He Himself is all-wise and all-knowing; He Himself is supreme.
ਆਪੇ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਲਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨਾਂ ॥
āpē rūp dikhāladā āpē lāi dhiānānh .
He Himself reveals His form, and He Himself enjoins us to His meditation.
ਆਪੇ ਮੋਨੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੈ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ॥
āpē mōnī varatadā āpē kathai giānānh .
He Himself poses as a silent sage, and He Himself speaks spiritual wisdom.
ਕਉੜਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਭਨਾ ਹੀ ਭਾਨਾ ॥
kaurā kisai n lagaī sabhanā hī bhānā .
He does not seem bitter to anyone; He is pleasing to all.
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੧੯॥
usatat baran n sakīai sad sad kurabānā .19.
His Praises cannot be described; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||19||

ਕਲੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਉਤਾਰੁ ॥

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, O Nanak, the demons have taken birth.
ਪੁਤੁ ਜਿਨੂਰਾ ਧੀਅ ਜਿੰਨੂਰੀ ਜੋਰੂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
put jinūrā dhī jinnūrī jōrū jinnā dā sikadār .1.
The son is a demon, and the daughter is a demon; the wife is the chief of the demons. ||1||

ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਲੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਅਖੁਟੀ ਜਾਂਹੀ ॥
hindū mūlē bhūlē akhutī jānhhī .
The Hindus have forgotten the Primal Lord; they are going the wrong way.
ਨਾਰਦਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਂਹੀ ॥ ਅੰਧੇ ਗੁੰਗੇ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
nārad kahiā s pūj karānhhī . andhē gungē andh andhār .
As Naarad instructed them, they are worshipping idols. They are blind and mute, the blindest of the blind.
ਪਾਥਰੁ ਲੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
pāthar lē pūjah mugadh gavār .
The ignorant fools pick up stones and worship them.
ਓਹਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਹਾ ਤਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
ōh jā āp dubē tum kahā taranahār .2.
But when those stones themselves sink, who will carry you across? ||2||

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਹੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
sabh kih tērai vas hai tū sachā sāh .
Everything is in Your power; You are the True King.
ਭਗਤ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥
bhagat ratē rang ēk kai pūrā vēsāh .
The devotees are imbued with the Love of the One Lord; they have perfect faith in Him.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਜਨ ਖਾਹੁ ॥
anmrit bhōjan nām har raj raj jan khāh .
The Name of the Lord is the ambrosial food; His humble servants eat their fill.
ਸਭਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹੁ ॥
sabh padārath pāīan simaran sach lāh .
All treasures are obtained - meditative remembrance on the Lord is the true profit.
ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹੁ ॥੨੦॥
sant piārē pārabraham nānak har agam agāh .20.
The Saints are very dear to the Supreme Lord God, O Nanak; the Lord is unapproachable and unfathomable. ||20||

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
sabh kish hukamē āvadā sabh kish hukamē jāi .
Everything comes by the Lord's Will, and everything goes by the Lord's Will.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਆਪਹੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
jē kō mūrakh āpah jānai andhā andh kamāi .
If some fool believes that he is the creator, he is blind, and acts in blindness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
nānak hukam kō guramukh bujhai jis nō kirapā karē rajāi .1.
O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command; the Lord showers His Mercy upon him. ||1||

ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
sō jōgī jugat sō pāē jis nō guramukh nām parāpat hōi .
He alone is a Yogi, and he alone finds the Way, who, as Gurmukh, obtains the Naam.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਕੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਸੈ ਭੇਖੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
tis jōgī kī nagarī sabh kō vasai bhēkhī jōg n hōi .
In the body-village of that Yogi are all blessings; this Yoga is not obtained by outward show.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
nānak aisā viralā kō jōgī jis ghat paragat hōi .2.
O Nanak, such a Yogi is very rare; the Lord is manifest in his heart. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
āpē jant upāian āpē ādhār .
He Himself created the creatures, and He Himself supports them.
ਆਪੇ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥
āpē sūkham bhālīai āpē pāsār .
He Himself is seen to be subtle, and He Himself is obvious.
ਆਪਿ ਇਕਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
āp ikātī hōi rahai āpē vad paravār .
He Himself remains a solitary recluse, and He Himself has a huge family.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਰੇਨਾਰੁ ॥
nānak mangai dān har santā rēnār .
Nanak asks for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints of the Lord.
ਹੋਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਤੂ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥
