Fifth Mehl:
ਘਟਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪੈ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
ghat vasah charanārabind rasanā japai gupāl .
Let the Lotus Feet of the Lord abide within your heart, and with your tongue, chant God's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਕਉ ਪਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
nānak sō prabh simarīai tis dēhī kau pāl .2.
O Nanak, meditate in remembrance on God, and nurture this body. ||2||

Pauree:
ਆਪੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
āpē athasath tīrath karatā āp karē isanān .
The Creator Himself is the sixty-eight sacred places of pilgrimage; He Himself takes the cleansing bath in them.
ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
āpē sanjam varatai svāmī āp japāih nām .
He Himself practices austere self-discipline; the Lord Master Himself causes us to chant His Name.
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਉ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
āp daiāl hōi bhau khandan āp karai sabh dān .
He Himself becomes merciful to us; the Destroyer of fear Himself gives in charity to all.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jis nō guramukh āp bujhāē sō sad hī daragah pāē mān .
One whom He has enlightened and made Gurmukh, ever obtains honor in His Court.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧੪॥
jis dī paij rakhai har suāmī sō sachā har jān .14.
One whose honor the Lord Master has preserved, comes to know the True Lord. ||14||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਗੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਧੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
nānak bin satigur bhētē jag andh hai andhē karam kamāi .
O Nanak, without meeting the True Guru, the world is blind, and it does blind deeds.
ਸਬਦੈ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਵਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
sabadai siu chit n lāvaī jit sukh vasai man āi .
It does not focus its consciousness on the Word of the Shabad, which would bring peace to abide in the mind.
ਤਾਮਸਿ ਲਗਾ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਲਤੁ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
tāmas lagā sadā phirai ahinis jalat bihāi .
Always afflicted with the dark passions of low energy, it wanders around, passing its days and nights burning.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
jō tis bhāvai sō thīai kahanā kishū n jāi .1.
Whatever pleases Him, comes to pass; no one has any say in this. ||1||

mah 3 .
Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰੀ ਏਹ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥
satigurū phuramāiā kārī ēh karēh .
The True Guru has commanded us to do this:
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮਾਲੇਹੁ ॥
gurū duārai hōi kai sāhib sanmālēh .
through the Guru's Gate, meditate on the Lord Master.
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਭਰਮੈ ਕੇ ਛਉੜ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥
sāhib sadā hajūr hai bharamai kē shaur kat kai antar jōt dharēh .
The Lord Master is ever-present. He tears away the veil of doubt, and installs His Light within the mind.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਏਹੁ ਲਾਏਹੁ ॥
har kā nām anmrit hai dārū ēh lāēh .
The Name of the Lord is Ambrosial Nectar - take this healing medicine!
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
satigur kā bhānā chit rakhah sanjam sachā nēh .
Enshrine the Will of the True Guru in your consciousness, and make the True Lord's Love your self-discipline.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਖਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥੨॥
nānak aithai sukhai andar rakhasī agai har siu kēl karēh .2.
O Nanak, you shall be kept in peace here, and hereafter, you shall celebrate with the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:
ਆਪੇ ਭਾਰ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਬਣਸਪਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਲਾਏ ॥
āpē bhār athārah banasapat āpē hī phal lāē .
He Himself is the vast variety of Nature, and He Himself makes it bear fruit.
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਸਿੰਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
āpē mālī āp sabh sinchai āpē hī muh pāē .
He Himself is the Gardener, He Himself irrigates all the plants, and He Himself puts them in His mouth.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥
āpē karatā āpē bhugatā āpē dēi divāē .
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer; He Himself gives, and causes others to give.
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
āpē sāhib āpē hai rākhā āpē rahiā samāē .
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the Protector; He Himself is permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਏ ॥੧੫॥
jan nānak vadiāī ākhai har karatē kī jis nō til n tamāē .15.
Servant Nanak speaks of the greatness of the Lord, the Creator, who has no greed at all. ||15||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਮਾਣਸੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਣਿਆ ਮਾਣਸੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਇ ॥
mānas bhariā āniā mānas bhariā āi .
One person brings a full bottle, and another fills his cup.
ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਰਲੁ ਪਵੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਇ ॥
jit pītai mat dūr hōi baral pavai vich āi .
Drinking the wine, his intelligence departs, and madness enters his mind;
ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਈ ਖਸਮਹੁ ਧਕੇ ਖਾਇ ॥
āpanā parāiā n pashānaī khasamah dhakē khāi .
he cannot distinguish between his own and others, and he is struck down by his Lord and Master.
ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
jit pītai khasam visarai daragah milai sajāi .
Drinking it, he forgets his Lord and Master, and he is punished in the Court of the Lord.
ਝੂਠਾ ਮਦੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਪੀਚਈ ਜੇ ਕਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
jhūthā mad mūl n pīchaī jē kā pār vasāi .
Do not drink the false wine at all, if it is in your power.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਇ ॥
nānak nadarī sach mad pāīai satigur milai jis āi .
O Nanak, the True Guru comes and meets the mortal; by His Grace, one obtains the True Wine.
ਸਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਹੈ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵੈ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
sadā sāhib kai rang rahai mahalī pāvai thāu .1.
He shall dwell forever in the Love of the Lord Master, and obtain a seat in the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||

mah 3 .
Third Mehl:
ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਜਾ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
ih jagat jīvat marai jā is nō sōjhī hōi .
When this world comes to understand, it remains dead while yet alive.
ਜਾ ਤਿਨ੍ਹਿ ਸਵਾਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਗਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
jā tinh savāliā tānh sav rahiā jagāē tānh sudh hōi .
When the Lord puts him to sleep, he remains asleep; when He wakes him up, he regains consciousness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
nānak nadar karē jē āpanī satigur mēlai sōi .
O Nanak, when the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, He causes him to meet the True Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
gur prasād jīvat marai tā phir maran n hōi .2.
By Guru's Grace, remain dead while yet alive, and you shall not have to die again. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
jis dā kītā sabh kish hōvai tis nō paravāh nāhī kisai kērī .
By His doing, everything happens; what does He care for anyone else?
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਖਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਕਢੈ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
har jīu tērā ditā sabh kō khāvai sabh muhatājī kadhai tērī .
O Dear Lord, everyone eats whatever You give - all are subservient to You.
