ਅਮਿਅ ਸਰੋਵਰੋ ਪੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
ami sarōvarō pīu har har nāmā rām .
Drink in the Ambrosial Nectar from the pool of the Lord; chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
santah sang milai jap pūran kāmā rām .
In the Society of the Saints, one meets the Lord; meditating on Him, one's affairs are resolved.
ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਦੀਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਬੀਸਰੈ ॥
sabh kām pūran dukh bidīran har nimakh manah n bīsarai .
God is the One who accomplishes everything; He is the Dispeller of pain. Never forget Him from your mind, even for an instant.
ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਜਗਦੀਸਰੈ ॥
ānand anadin sadā sāchā sarab gun jagadīsarai .
He is blissful, night and day; He is forever True. All Glories are contained in the Lord in the Universe.
ਅਗਣਤ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਧਾਮਾ ॥
aganat ūch apār thākur agam jā kō dhāmā .
Incalculable, lofty and infinite is the Lord and Master. Unapproachable is His home.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਛ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗ ਰਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
binavant nānak mērī ish pūran milē srīrang rāmā .3.
Prays Nanak, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the Lord, the Greatest Lover. ||3||
ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿਕ ਜਗ ਫਲਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
kaī kōtik jag phalā sun gāvanahārē rām .
The fruits of many millions of charitable feasts come to those who listen to and sing the Lord's Praise.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
har har nām japat kul sagalē tārē rām .
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, all one's generations are carried across.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੋਹੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਤ ਗਨਾ ॥
har nām japat sōhant prānī tā kī mahimā kit ganā .
Chanting the Name of the Lord, one is beautified; what Praises of His can I chant?
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਿਤਵੰਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਦ ਮਨਾ ॥
har bisar nāhī prān piārē chitavant darasan sad manā .
I shall never forget the Lord; He is the Beloved of my soul. My mind constantly yearns for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਸੁਭ ਦਿਵਸ ਆਏ ਗਹਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
subh divas āē gah kanth lāē prabh ūch agam apārē .
Auspicious is that day, when God, the lofty, inaccessible and infinite, hugs me close in His embrace.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਫਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥
binavant nānak saphal sabh kish prabh milē at piārē .4.3.6.
Prays Nanak, everything is fruitful - I have met my supremely beloved Lord God. ||4||3||6||
ਬਿਹਾਗੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਛੰਤ ॥
bihāgarā mahalā 5 shant .
Bihaagraa, Fifth Mehl, Chhant:
ਅਨ ਕਾਏ ਰਾਤੜਿਆ ਵਾਟ ਦੁਹੇਲੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
an kāē rātariā vāt duhēlī rām .
Why are you imbued with the love of another? That path is very dangerous.
ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵਦਿਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਬੇਲੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
pāp kamāvadiā tērā kōi n bēlī rām .
O sinner, no one is your friend.
ਕੋਏ ਨ ਬੇਲੀ ਹੋਇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਛੋਤਾਵਹੇ ॥
kōē n bēlī hōi tērā sadā pashōtāvahē .
No one shall be your friend, and you shall forever regret your actions.
ਗੁਨ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਨ ਜਪਹਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਦਹੁ ਸੇ ਦਿਹ ਆਵਹੇ ॥
gun gupāl n japah rasanā phir kadah sē dih āvahē .
You have not chanted with your tongue the Praises of the Sustainer of the World; when will these days come again?
ਤਰਵਰ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਨਹ ਪਾਤ ਜੁੜਤੇ ਜਮ ਮਗਿ ਗਉਨੁ ਇਕੇਲੀ ॥
taravar vishunnē nah pāt juratē jam mag gaun ikēlī .
The leaf, separated from the branch, shall not be joined with it again; all alone, it falls on its way to death.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੀ ॥੧॥
binavant nānak bin nām har kē sadā phirat duhēlī .1.
Prays Nanak, without the Lord's Name, the soul wanders, forever suffering. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਵਲਵੰਚ ਲੂਕਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
tūn valavanch lūk karah sabh jānai jānī rām .
You are practicing deception secretly, but the Lord, the Knower, knows all.
ਲੇਖਾ ਧਰਮ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਲ ਪੀੜੇ ਘਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
lēkhā dharam bhaiā til pīrē ghānī rām .
When the Righteous Judge of Dharma reads your account, you shall be squeezed like a sesame seed in the oil-press.
ਕਿਰਤ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਇਆ ॥
kirat kamānē dukh sah parānī anik jōn bhramāiā .
For the actions you committed, you shall suffer the penalty; you shall be consigned to countless reincarnations.
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
mahā mōhanī sang rātā ratan janam gavāiā .
Imbued with the love of Maya, the great enticer, you shall lose the jewel of this human life.
ਇਕਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਆਨ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥
ikas har kē nām bājhah ān kāj siānī .
Except for the One Name of the Lord, you are clever in everything else.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੁਭਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
binavant nānak lēkh likhiā bharam mōh lubhānī .2.
Prays Nanak, those who have such pre-ordained destiny are attracted to doubt and emotional attachment. ||2||
ਬੀਚੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਕਰੇ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤਘਣੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਪਇਆ ॥
bīch n kōi karē akritaghan vishur paiā .
No one advocates for the ungrateful person, who is separated from the Lord.
ਆਏ ਖਰੇ ਕਠਿਨ ਜਮਕੰਕਰਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
āē kharē kathin jamakankar pakar laiā .
The hard-hearted Messenger of Death comes and seizes him.
ਪਕੜੇ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਰਾਤਿਆ ॥
pakarē chalāiā apanā kamāiā mahā mōhanī rātiā .
He seizes him, and leads him away, to pay for his evil deeds; he was imbued with Maya, the great enticer.
ਗੁਨ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਪਤ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਤਿਆ ॥
gun gōvind guramukh n japiā tapat thanmh gal lātiā .
He was not Gurmukh - he did not chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe; and now, the hot irons are put to his chest.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਮੂਠਾ ਖੋਇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਛੁਤਾਪਿਆ ॥
kām krōdh ahankār mūthā khōi giān pashutāpiā .
He is ruined by sexual desire, anger and egotism; deprived of spiritual wisdom, he comes to regret.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੁ ਰਸਨ ਨ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥੩॥
binavant nānak sanjōg bhūlā har jāp rasan n jāpiā .3.
Prays Nanak, by his cursed destiny he has gone astray; with his tongue, he does not chant the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
tujh bin kō nāhī prabh rākhanahārā rām .
Without You, God, no one is our savior.
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
patit udhāran har birad tumārā rām .
It is Your Nature, Lord, to save the sinners.
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
patit udhāran saran suāmī kripā nidh daiālā .
O Savior of sinners, I have entered Your Sanctuary, O Lord and Master, Compassionate Ocean of Mercy.
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਉਧਰੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਸਗਲ ਘਟ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
andh kūp tē udhar karatē sagal ghat pratipālā .
Please, rescue me from the deep, dark pit, O Creator, Cherisher of all hearts.
ਸਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਟਿ ਮਹਾ ਬੇੜੀ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
saran tērī kat mahā bērī ik nām dēh adhārā .
I seek Your Sanctuary; please, cut away these heavy bonds, and give me the Support of the One Name.
