ਮਥੇ ਵਾਲਿ ਪਛਾੜਿਅਨੁ ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਮੁਤੇ ॥
mathē vāl pashārian jam mārag mutē .
Grabbing them by the hair on their heads, the Lord throws them down, and leaves them on the path of Death.
ਦੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਣਿਆ ਨਰਕਿ ਘੋਰਿ ਸੁਤੇ ॥
dukh lagai bilalāniā narak ghōr sutē .
They cry out in pain, in the darkest of hells.
ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਾਸ ਰਖਿਅਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਤੇ ॥੨੦॥
kanth lāi dās rakhian nānak har satē .20.
But hugging His slaves close to His Heart, O Nanak, the True Lord saves them. ||20||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
rām japah vadabhāgīhō jal thal pūran sōi .
Meditate on the Lord, O fortunate ones; He is pervading the waters and the earth.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਧਿਆਇਐ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
nānak nām dhiāiai bighan n lāgai kōi .1.
O Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and no misfortune shall strike you. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥
kōt bighan tis lāgatē jis nō visarai nāu .
Millions of misfortunes block the way of one who forgets the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਪਤੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਉ ॥੨॥
nānak anadin bilapatē jiu sunñai ghar kāu .2.
O Nanak, like a crow in a deserted house, he cries out, night and day. ||2||

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਿਆ ॥
simar simar dātār manōrath pūriā .
Meditating, meditating in remembrance of the Great Giver, one's heart's desires are fulfilled.
ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਗਏ ਵਿਸੂਰਿਆ ॥
ish punnī man ās gaē visūriā .
The hopes and desires of the mind are realized, and sorrows are forgotten.
ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਾਲਦਾ ॥
pāiā nām nidhān jis nō bhāladā .
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained; I have searched for it for so long.
ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਾਲਦਾ ॥
jōt milī sang jōt rahiā ghāladā .
My light is merged into the Light, and my labors are over.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੁਠੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ॥
sūkh sahaj ānand vuthē tit ghar .
I abide in that house of peace, poise and bliss.
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਤਹਾ ਮਰਿ ॥
āvan jān rahē janam n tahā mar .
My comings and goings have ended - there is no birth or death there.
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
sāhib sēvak ik ik drisatāiā .
The Master and the servant have become one, with no sense of separation.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੨੧॥੧॥੨॥ ਸੁਧੁ
gur prasād nānak sach samāiā .21.1.2. sudh

Chau-Padas Of Kabeer Jee, Second House:
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਾਵ ਦੁਇ ਸਿੰਗ ਗੁੰਗ ਮੁਖ ਤਬ ਕੈਸੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਈਹੈ ॥
chār pāv dui sing gung mukh tab kaisē gun gaīhai .
With four feet, two horns and a mute mouth, how could you sing the Praises of the Lord?
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਠੇਗਾ ਪਰਿਹੈ ਤਬ ਕਤ ਮੂਡ ਲੁਕਈਹੈ ॥੧॥
ūthat baithat thēgā parihai tab kat mūd lukaīhai .1.
Standing up and sitting down, the stick shall still fall on you, so where will you hide your head? ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਲ ਬਿਰਾਨੇ ਹੁਈਹੈ ॥
har bin bail birānē huīhai .
Without the Lord, you are like a stray ox;
ਫਾਟੇ ਨਾਕਨ ਟੂਟੇ ਕਾਧਨ ਕੋਦਉ ਕੋ ਭੁਸੁ ਖਈਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
phātē nākan tūtē kādhan kōdau kō bhus khaīhai .1. rahāu .
with your nose torn, and your shoulders injured, you shall have only the straw of coarse grain to eat. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਰੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਡੋਲਤ ਬਨ ਮਹੀਆ ਅਜਹੁ ਨ ਪੇਟ ਅਘਈਹੈ ॥
sārō din dōlat ban mahīā ajah n pēt aghaīhai .
All day long, you shall wander in the forest, and even then, your belly will not be full.
ਜਨ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੋ ਕਹੋ ਨ ਮਾਨੋ ਕੀਓ ਅਪਨੋ ਪਈਹੈ ॥੨॥
jan bhagatan kō kahō n mānō kīō apanō paīhai .2.
You did not follow the advice of the humble devotees, and so you shall obtain the fruits of your actions. ||2||
ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਕਰਤ ਮਹਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਬੂਡੋ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਰਮਈਹੈ ॥
dukh sukh karat mahā bhram būdō anik jōn bharamaīhai .
Enduring pleasure and pain, drowned in the great ocean of doubt, you shall wander in numerous reincarnations.
ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਸਰਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਕਤ ਪਈਹੈ ॥੩॥
ratan janam khōiō prabh bisariō ih ausar kat paīhai .3.
You have lost the jewel of human birth by forgetting God; when will you have such an opportunity again? ||3||
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਤੇਲਕ ਕੇ ਕਪਿ ਜਿਉ ਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿਹਈਹੈ ॥
bhramat phirat tēlak kē kap jiu gat bin rain bihaīhai .
You turn on the wheel of reincarnation, like an ox at the oil-press; the night of your life passes away without salvation.
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਧੁਨੇ ਪਛੁਤਈਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
kahat kabīr rām nām bin mūnd dhunē pashutaīhai .4.1.
Says Kabeer, without the Name of the Lord, you shall pound your head, and regret and repent. ||4||1||

Goojaree, Third House:
ਮੁਸਿ ਮੁਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਕਬੀਰ ਕੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
mus mus rōvai kabīr kī māī .
Kabeer's mother sobs, cries and bewails
ਏ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕੈਸੇ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਰਘੁਰਾਈ ॥੧॥
ē bārik kaisē jīvah raghurāī .1.
- O Lord, how will my grandchildren live? ||1||
ਤਨਨਾ ਬੁਨਨਾ ਸਭੁ ਤਜਿਓ ਹੈ ਕਬੀਰ ॥
tananā bunanā sabh tajiō hai kabīr .
Kabeer has given up all his spinning and weaving,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਿਖਿ ਲੀਓ ਸਰੀਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kā nām likh līō sarīr .1. rahāu .
and written the Name of the Lord on his body. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਤਾਗਾ ਬਾਹਉ ਬੇਹੀ ॥
jab lag tāgā bāhau bēhī .
As long as I pass the thread through the bobbin,
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
tab lag bisarai rām sanēhī .2.
I forget the Lord, my Beloved. ||2||
ਓਛੀ ਮਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਜੁਲਾਹਾ ॥
ōshī mat mērī jāt julāhā .
My intellect is lowly - I am a weaver by birth,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਹਿਓ ਮੈ ਲਾਹਾ ॥੩॥
har kā nām lahiō mai lāhā .3.
but I have earned the profit of the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
kahat kabīr sunah mērī māī .
Says Kabeer, listen, O my mother
ਹਮਰਾ ਇਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਰਘੁਰਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥
hamarā in kā dātā ēk raghurāī .4.2.
- the Lord alone is the Provider, for me and my children. ||4||2||
