ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak man hī tē man māniā nā kish marai n jāi .2.
O Nanak, through the mind, the mind is satisfied, and then, nothing comes or goes. ||2||

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ॥
kāiā kōt apār hai milanā sanjōgī .
The body is the fortress of the Infinite Lord; it is obtained only by destiny.
ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਸਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗੀ ॥
kāiā andar āp vas rahiā āpē ras bhōgī .
The Lord Himself dwells within the body; He Himself is the Enjoyer of pleasures.
ਆਪਿ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਜੋਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
āp atīt alipat hai nirajōg har jōgī .
He Himself remains detached and unaffected; while unattached, He is still attached.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੀ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sō karē har karē s hōgī .
He does whatever He pleases, and whatever He does, comes to pass.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਵਿਜੋਗੀ ॥੧੩॥
har guramukh nām dhiāīai lah jāh vijōgī .13.
The Gurmukh meditates on the Lord's Name, and separation from the Lord is ended. ||13||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਖਾਇਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
vāh vāh āp akhāidā gur sabadī sach sōi .
Waaho! Waaho! The Lord Himself causes us to praise Him, through the True Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
vāh vāh siphat salāh hai guramukh būjhai kōi .
Waaho! Waaho! is His Eulogy and Praise; how rare are the Gurmukhs who understand this.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
vāh vāh bānī sach hai sach milāvā hōi .
Waaho! Waaho! is the True Word of His Bani, by which we meet our True Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
nānak vāh vāh karatiā prabh pāiā karam parāpat hōi .1.
O Nanak, chanting Waaho! Waaho! God is attained; by His Grace, He is obtained. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥
vāh vāh karatī rasanā sabad suhāī .
Chanting Waaho! Waaho! the tongue is adorned with the Word of the Shabad.
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਈ ॥
pūrai sabad prabh miliā āī .
Through the Perfect Shabad, one comes to meet God.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਕਢਾਈ ॥
vadabhāgīā vāh vāh muhah kadhāī .
How very fortunate are those, who with their mouths, chant Waaho! Waaho!
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਪਰਜਾ ਪੂਜਣ ਆਈ ॥
vāh vāh karah sēī jan sōhanē tinh kau parajā pūjan āī .
How beautiful are those persons who chant Waaho! Waaho! ; people come to venerate them.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
vāh vāh karam parāpat hōvai nānak dar sachai sōbhā pāī .2.
Waaho! Waaho! is obtained by His Grace; O Nanak, honor is obtained at the Gate of the True Lord. ||2||

ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਕਾਇਆ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥
bajar kapāt kāiā garh bhītar kūr kusat abhimānī .
Within the fortress of body, are the hard and rigid doors of falsehood, deception and pride.
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
bharam bhūlē nadar n āvanī manamukh andh agiānī .
Deluded by doubt, the blind and ignorant self-willed manmukhs cannot see them.
ਉਪਾਇ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲਭਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਥਕੇ ਭੇਖਵਾਨੀ ॥
upāi kitai n labhanī kar bhēkh thakē bhēkhavānī .
They cannot be found by any efforts; wearing their religious robes, the wearers have grown weary of trying.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਖੋਲਾਈਅਨ੍ਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਨੀ ॥
gur sabadī khōlāīanh har nām japānī .
The doors are opened only by the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and then, one chants the Name of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਪੀਆ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੀ ॥੧੪॥
har jīu anmrit birakh hai jin pīā tē tripatānī .14.
The Dear Lord is the Tree of Ambrosial Nectar; those who drink in this Nectar are satisfied. ||14||

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
vāh vāh karatiā rain sukh vihāi .
Chanting Waaho! Waaho! the night of one's life passes in peace.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
vāh vāh karatiā sadā anand hōvai mērī māi .
Chanting Waaho! Waaho! I am in eternal bliss, O my mother!
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
vāh vāh karatiā har siu liv lāi .
Chanting Waaho! Waaho!, I have fallen in love with the Lord.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਬੋਲੈ ਬੋਲਾਇ ॥
vāh vāh karamī bōlai bōlāi .
Waaho! Waaho! Through the karma of good deeds, I chant it, and inspire others to chant it as well.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
vāh vāh karatiā sōbhā pāi .
Chanting Waaho! Waaho!, one obtains honor.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਤਿ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
nānak vāh vāh sat rajāi .1.
O Nanak, Waaho! Waaho! is the Will of the True Lord. ||1||

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਧੀ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
vāh vāh bānī sach hai guramukh ladhī bhāl .
Waaho! Waaho! is the Bani of the True Word. Searching, the Gurmukhs have found it.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਉਚਰੈ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
vāh vāh sabadē ucharai vāh vāh hiradai nāl .
Waaho! Waaho! They chant the Word of the Shabad. Waaho! Waaho! They enshrine it in their hearts.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
vāh vāh karatiā har pāiā sahajē guramukh bhāl .
Chanting Waaho! Waaho! the Gurmukhs easily obtain the Lord, after searching.
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
sē vadabhāgī nānakā har har ridai samāl .2.
O Nanak, very fortunate are those who reflect upon the Lord, Har, Har, within their hearts. ||2||

ਏ ਮਨਾ ਅਤਿ ਲੋਭੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਲੋਭੇ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
ē manā at lōbhīā nit lōbhē rātā .
O my utterly greedy mind, you are constantly engrossed in greed.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਨਸਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਫਿਰਾਤਾ ॥
māiā manasā mōhanī dah dis phirātā .
In your desire for the enticing Maya, you wander in the ten directions.
ਅਗੈ ਨਾਉ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਤਾ ॥
agai nāu jāt n jāisī manamukh dukh khātā .
Your name and social status shall not go with you hereafter; the self-willed manmukh is consumed by pain.
ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਖਿਓ ਫੀਕਾ ਬੋਲਾਤਾ ॥
rasanā har ras n chakhiō phīkā bōlātā .
Your tongue does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord; it utters only insipid words.
ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਤਾ ॥੧੫॥
jinā guramukh anmrit chākhiā sē jan tripatātā .15.
Those Gurmukhs who drink in the Ambrosial Nectar are satisfied. ||15||

Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is True, profound and unfathomable.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰੁ ॥
vāh vāh tis nō ākhīai j gunadātā mat dhīr .
Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is the Giver of virtue, intelligence and patience.
