ਜਮ ਕਾ ਡੰਡੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
jam kā dand mūnd mah lāgai khin mah karai nibērā .3.
When the Messenger of Death strikes him with his club, in an instant, everything is settled. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਸਦਾਵੈ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
har jan ūtam bhagat sadāvai āgiā man sukh pāī .
The Lord's humble servant is called the most exalted Saint; he obeys the Command of the Lord's Order, and obtains peace.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੪॥
jō tis bhāvai sat kar mānai bhānā mann vasāī .4.
Whatever is pleasing to the Lord, he accepts as True; he enshrines the Lord's Will within his mind. ||4||
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਝੂਠੀ ॥
kahai kabīr sunah rē santah mērī mērī jhūthī .
Says Kabeer, listen, O Saints - it is false to call out, "Mine, mine."
ਚਿਰਗਟ ਫਾਰਿ ਚਟਾਰਾ ਲੈ ਗਇਓ ਤਰੀ ਤਾਗਰੀ ਛੂਟੀ ॥੫॥੩॥੧੬॥
chiragat phār chatārā lai gaiō tarī tāgarī shūtī .5.3.16.
Breaking the bird cage, death takes the bird away, and only the torn threads remain. ||5||3||16||

ਹਮ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਖੁਦਾਈ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
ham masakīn khudāī bandē tum rājas man bhāvai .
I am Your humble servant, Lord; Your Praises are pleasing to my mind.
ਅਲਹ ਅਵਲਿ ਦੀਨ ਕੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
alah aval dīn kō sāhib jōr nahī phuramāvai .1.
The Lord, the Primal Being, the Master of the poor, does not ordain that they should be oppressed. ||1||
ਕਾਜੀ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਬਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kājī bōliā ban nahī āvai .1. rahāu .
O Qazi, it is not right to speak before Him. ||1||Pause||
ਰੋਜਾ ਧਰੈ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰੈ ਕਲਮਾ ਭਿਸਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
rōjā dharai nivāj gujārai kalamā bhisat n hōī .
Keeping your fasts, reciting your prayers, and reading the Kalma, the Islamic creed, shall not take you to paradise.
ਸਤਰਿ ਕਾਬਾ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥
satar kābā ghat hī bhītar jē kar jānai kōī .2.
The Temple of Mecca is hidden within your mind, if you only knew it. ||2||
ਨਿਵਾਜ ਸੋਈ ਜੋ ਨਿਆਉ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ਕਲਮਾ ਅਕਲਹਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
nivāj sōī jō niāu bichārai kalamā akalah jānai .
That should be your prayer, to administer justice. Let your Kalma be the knowledge of the unknowable Lord.
ਪਾਚਹੁ ਮੁਸਿ ਮੁਸਲਾ ਬਿਛਾਵੈ ਤਬ ਤਉ ਦੀਨੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥੩॥
pāchah mus musalā bishāvai tab tau dīn pashānai .3.
Spread your prayer mat by conquering your five desires, and you shall recognize the true religion. ||3||
ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਤਰਸ ਕਰਿ ਜੀਅ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਣੀ ਕਰਿ ਫੀਕੀ ॥
khasam pashān taras kar jī mah mār manī kar phīkī .
Recognize Your Lord and Master, and fear Him within your heart; conquer your egotism, and make it worthless.
ਆਪੁ ਜਨਾਇ ਅਵਰ ਕਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਬ ਹੋਇ ਭਿਸਤ ਸਰੀਕੀ ॥੪॥
āp janāi avar kau jānai tab hōi bhisat sarīkī .4.
As you see yourself, see others as well; only then will you become a partner in heaven. ||4||
ਮਾਟੀ ਏਕ ਭੇਖ ਧਰਿ ਨਾਨਾ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥
mātī ēk bhēkh dhar nānā tā mah braham pashānā .
The clay is one, but it has taken many forms; I recognize the One Lord within them all.
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਭਿਸਤ ਛੋਡਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੋਜਕ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੫॥੪॥੧੭॥
kahai kabīrā bhisat shōd kar dōjak siu man mānā .5.4.17.
Says Kabeer, I have abandoned paradise, and reconciled my mind to hell. ||5||4||17||

ਗਗਨ ਨਗਰਿ ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਨ ਬਰਖੈ ਨਾਦੁ ਕਹਾ ਜੁ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
gagan nagar ik būnd n barakhai nād kahā j samānā .
From the city of the Tenth Gate, the sky of the mind, not even a drop rains down. Where is the music of the sound current of the Naad, which was contained in it?
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਮਾਧੋ ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸੁ ਲੇ ਸਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
pārabraham paramēsur mādhō param hans lē sidhānā .1.
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, the Master of wealth has taken away the Supreme Soul. ||1||
ਬਾਬਾ ਬੋਲਤੇ ਤੇ ਕਹਾ ਗਏ ਦੇਹੀ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
bābā bōlatē tē kahā gaē dēhī kē sang rahatē .
O Father, tell me: where has it gone? It used to dwell within the body,
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਨਿਰਤੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਥਾ ਬਾਰਤਾ ਕਹਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
surat māh jō niratē karatē kathā bāratā kahatē .1. rahāu .
and dance in the mind, teaching and speaking. ||1||Pause||
ਬਜਾਵਨਹਾਰੋ ਕਹਾ ਗਇਓ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਕੀਨ੍ਹਾ ॥
bajāvanahārō kahā gaiō jin ih mandar kīnhā .
Where has the player gone - he who made this temple his own?
ਸਾਖੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਉਪਜੈ ਖਿੰਚਿ ਤੇਜੁ ਸਭੁ ਲੀਨ੍ਹਾ ॥੨॥
sākhī sabad surat nahī upajai khinch tēj sabh līnhā .2.
No story, word or understanding is produced; the Lord has drained off all the power. ||2||
ਸ੍ਰਵਨਨ ਬਿਕਲ ਭਏ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਥਾਕਾ ॥
sravanan bikal bhaē sang tērē indrī kā bal thākā .
The ears, your companions, have gone deaf, and the power of your organs is exhausted.
ਚਰਨ ਰਹੇ ਕਰ ਢਰਕਿ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਨ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਬਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
charan rahē kar dharak parē hai mukhah n nikasai bātā .3.
Your feet have failed, your hands have gone limp, and no words issue forth from your mouth. ||3||
ਥਾਕੇ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸਭ ਤਸਕਰ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ॥
thākē panch dūt sabh tasakar āp āpanai bhramatē .
Having grown weary, the five enemies and all the thieves have wandered away according to their own will.
ਥਾਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਉਰੁ ਥਾਕਾ ਤੇਜੁ ਸੂਤੁ ਧਰਿ ਰਮਤੇ ॥੪॥
thākā man kunchar ur thākā tēj sūt dhar ramatē .4.
The elephant of the mind has grown weary, and the heart has grown weary as well; through its power, it used to pull the strings. ||4||
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਭਏ ਦਸੈ ਬੰਦ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਾਈ ਸਭ ਛੋਰੇ ॥
miratak bhaē dasai band shūtē mitr bhāī sabh shōrē .
He is dead, and the bonds of the ten gates are opened; he has left all his friends and brothers.
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਜੀਵਤ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋਰੇ ॥੫॥੫॥੧੮॥
kahat kabīrā jō har dhiāvai jīvat bandhan tōrē .5.5.18.
Says Kabeer, one who meditates on the Lord, breaks his bonds, even while yet alive. ||5||5||18||
ਆਸਾ ਇਕਤੁਕੇ ੪ ॥
āsā ikatukē 4 .
Aasaa, 4 Ik-Tukas:
ਸਰਪਨੀ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਲੀਆ ॥
sarapanī tē ūpar nahī balīā .
No one is more powerful than the she-serpent Maya,
ਜਿਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਛਲੀਆ ॥੧॥
jin brahamā bisan mahādēu shalīā .1.
who deceived even Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. ||1||
ਮਾਰੁ ਮਾਰੁ ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਲਿ ਪੈਠੀ ॥
mār mār srapanī niramal jal paithī .
Having bitten and struck them down, she now sits in the immaculate waters.
ਜਿਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਡਸੀਅਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਡੀਠੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin tribhavan dasīalē gur prasād dīthī .1. rahāu .
By Guru's Grace, I have seen her, who has bitten the three worlds. ||1||Pause||
ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
srapanī srapanī kiā kahah bhāī .
O Siblings of Destiny, why is she called a she-serpent?
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
jin sāch pashāniā tin srapanī khāī .2.
One who realizes the True Lord, devours the she-serpent. ||2||
ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਤੇ ਆਨ ਛੂਛ ਨਹੀ ਅਵਰਾ ॥
srapanī tē ān shūsh nahī avarā .
No one else is more frivolous than this she-serpent.
ਸ੍ਰਪਨੀ ਜੀਤੀ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਜਮਰਾ ॥੩॥
srapanī jītī kahā karai jamarā .3.
When the she-serpent is overcome, what can the Messengers of the King of Death do? ||3||
