ਐਸੇ ਘਰ ਹਮ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਸਾਏ ॥
aisē ghar ham bahut basāē .
I lived in many such homes, O Lord,
ਜਬ ਹਮ ਰਾਮ ਗਰਭ ਹੋਇ ਆਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab ham rām garabh hōi āē .1. rahāu .
before I came into the womb this time. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਤਪੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥
jōgī jatī tapī brahamachārī .
I was a Yogi, a celibate, a penitent, and a Brahmchaaree, with strict self-discipline.
ਕਬਹੂ ਰਾਜਾ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
kabahū rājā shatrapat kabahū bhēkhārī .2.
Sometimes I was a king, sitting on the throne, and sometimes I was a beggar. ||2||
ਸਾਕਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ॥
sākat marah sant sabh jīvah .
The faithless cynics shall die, while the Saints shall all survive.
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਨੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਪੀਵਹਿ ॥੩॥
rām rasāin rasanā pīvah .3.
They drink in the Lord's Ambrosial Essence with their tongues. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
kah kabīr prabh kirapā kījai .
Says Kabeer, O God, have mercy on me.
ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਅਬ ਪੂਰਾ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੧੩॥
hār parē ab pūrā dījai .4.13.
I am so tired; now, please bless me with Your perfection. ||4||13||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਰਲਾਇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
gaurī kabīr jī kī nāl ralāi likhiā mahalā 5 .
Gauree, Kabeer Jee, With Writings Of The Fifth Mehl:
ਐਸੋ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਕਬੀਰ ॥
aisō acharaj dēkhiō kabīr .
Kabeer has seen such wonders!
ਦਧਿ ਕੈ ਭੋਲੈ ਬਿਰੋਲੈ ਨੀਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dadh kai bhōlai birōlai nīr .1. rahāu .
Mistaking it for cream, the people are churning water. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰੀ ਅੰਗੂਰੀ ਗਦਹਾ ਚਰੈ ॥
harī angūrī gadahā charai .
The donkey grazes upon the green grass;
ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਹਾਸੈ ਹੀਗੈ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥
nit uth hāsai hīgai marai .1.
arising each day, he laughs and brays, and then dies. ||1||
ਮਾਤਾ ਭੈਸਾ ਅੰਮੁਹਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
mātā bhaisā anmuhā jāi .
The bull is intoxicated, and runs around wildly.
ਕੁਦਿ ਕੁਦਿ ਚਰੈ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
kud kud charai rasātal pāi .2.
He romps and eats and then falls into hell. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਖੇਡ ॥
kah kabīr paragat bhaī khēd .
Says Kabeer, a strange sport has become manifest:
ਲੇਲੇ ਕਉ ਚੂਘੈ ਨਿਤ ਭੇਡ ॥੩॥
lēlē kau chūghai nit bhēd .3.
the sheep is sucking the milk of her lamb. ||3||
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਮਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਈ ॥
rām ramat mat paragatī āī .
Chanting the Lord's Name, my intellect is enlightened.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪॥
kah kabīr gur sōjhī pāī .4.1.14.
Says Kabeer, the Guru has blessed me with this understanding. ||4||1||14||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਪੰਚਪਦੇ ॥
gaurī kabīr jī panchapadē .
Gauree, Kabeer Jee, Panch-Padas:
ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਛੋਡਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਇਓ ਮੀਨਾ ॥
jiu jal shōd bāhar bhaiō mīnā .
I am like a fish out of water,
ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮ ਹਉ ਤਪ ਕਾ ਹੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
pūrab janam hau tap kā hīnā .1.
because in my previous life, I did not practice penance and intense meditation. ||1||
ਅਬ ਕਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਕਵਨ ਗਤਿ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
ab kah rām kavan gat mōrī .
Now tell me, Lord, what will my condition be?
ਤਜੀ ਲੇ ਬਨਾਰਸ ਮਤਿ ਭਈ ਥੋਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tajī lē banāras mat bhaī thōrī .1. rahāu .
I left Benares - I had little common sense. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
sagal janam siv purī gavāiā .
I wasted my whole life in the city of Shiva;
ਮਰਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਮਗਹਰਿ ਉਠਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
maratī bār magahar uth āiā .2.
at the time of my death, I moved to Magahar. ||2||
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਰਸ ਤਪੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਾਸੀ ॥
bahut baras tap kīā kāsī .
For many years, I practiced penance and intense meditation at Kaashi;
ਮਰਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਗਹਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਸੀ ॥੩॥
maran bhaiā magahar kī bāsī .3.
now that my time to die has come, I have come to dwell at Magahar! ||3||
ਕਾਸੀ ਮਗਹਰ ਸਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
kāsī magahar sam bīchārī .
Kaashi and Magahar - I consider them the same.
ਓਛੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
ōshī bhagat kaisē utaras pārī .4.
With inadequate devotion, how can anyone swim across? ||4||
ਕਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਜ ਸਿਵ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
kah gur gaj siv sabh kō jānai .
Says Kabeer, the Guru and Ganaysha and Shiva all know
ਮੁਆ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਰਮਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮੈ ॥੫॥੧੫॥
muā kabīr ramat srī rāmai .5.15.
that Kabeer died chanting the Lord's Name. ||5||15||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
gaurī kabīr jī .
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਮਰਦਨ ਅੰਗਾ ॥
chōā chandan maradan angā .
You may anoint your limbs with sandalwood oil,
ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਜਲੈ ਕਾਠ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
sō tan jalai kāth kai sangā .1.
but in the end, that body will be burned with the firewood. ||1||
ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਕੀ ਕਵਨ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
is tan dhan kī kavan badāī .
Why should anyone take pride in this body or wealth?
ਧਰਨਿ ਪਰੈ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dharan parai uravār n jāī .1. rahāu .
They shall end up lying on the ground; they shall not go along with you to the world beyond. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਤਿ ਜਿ ਸੋਵਹਿ ਦਿਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਾਮ ॥
rāt j sōvah din karah kām .
They sleep by night and work during the day,
ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਲੇਹਿ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥੨॥
ik khin lēh n har kō nām .2.
but they do not chant the Lord's Name, even for an instant. ||2||
ਹਾਥਿ ਤ ਡੋਰ ਮੁਖਿ ਖਾਇਓ ਤੰਬੋਰ ॥
hāth t dōr mukh khāiō tanbōr .
They hold the string of the kite in their hands, and chew betel leaves in their mouths,
ਮਰਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਕਸਿ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਚੋਰ ॥੩॥
maratī bār kas bādhiō chōr .3.
but at the time of death, they shall be tied up tight, like thieves. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
guramat ras ras har gun gāvai .
Through the Guru's Teachings, and immersed in His Love, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਰਾਮੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੪॥
rāmai rām ramat sukh pāvai .4.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam, and find peace. ||4||
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਈ ॥
kirapā kar kai nām drirāī .
In His Mercy, He implants the Naam within us;
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਸੁ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਬਸਾਈ ॥੫॥
har har bās sugandh basāī .5.
inhale deeply the sweet aroma and fragrance of the Lord, Har, Har. ||5||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਚੇਤਿ ਰੇ ਅੰਧਾ ॥
kahat kabīr chēt rē andhā .
Says Kabeer, remember Him, you blind fool!
ਸਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਸਭੁ ਧੰਧਾ ॥੬॥੧੬॥
sat rām jhūthā sabh dhandhā .6.16.
The Lord is True; all worldly affairs are false. ||6||16||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਤਿਪਦੇ ਚਾਰਤੁਕੇ ॥
gaurī kabīr jī tipadē chāratukē .
Gauree, Kabeer Jee, Ti-Padas And Chau-Tukas:
ਜਮ ਤੇ ਉਲਟਿ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
jam tē ulat bhaē hai rām .
I have turned away from death and turned to the Lord.
ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਓ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥
dukh binasē sukh kīō bisarām .
Pain has been eliminated, and I dwell in peac and comfort.
ਬੈਰੀ ਉਲਟਿ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
bairī ulat bhaē hai mītā .
My enemies have been transformed into friends.
ਸਾਕਤ ਉਲਟਿ ਸੁਜਨ ਭਏ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੧॥
sākat ulat sujan bhaē chītā .1.
The faithless cynics have been transformed into good-hearted people. ||1||
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਕੁਸਲ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
ab mōh sarab kusal kar māniā .
Now, I feel that everything brings me peace.
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਭਈ ਜਬ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sānht bhaī jab gōbid jāniā .1. rahāu .
Peace and tranquility have come, since I realized the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||
