ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੋਤਿ ॥੧੬॥
jan nānak nām salāh tū sach sachē sēvā tērī hōt .16.
O servant Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; this is your service to the Lord, the Truest of the True. ||16||

Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਸਭਿ ਰਸ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sabh ras tin kai ridai hah jin har vasiā man māh .
All joy is in the hearts of those, within whose minds the Lord abides.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਭਿ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
har daragah tē mukh ujalē tin kau sabh dēkhan jāh .
In the Court of the Lord, their faces are radiant, and everyone goes to see them.
ਜਿਨ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jin nirabhau nām dhiāiā tin kau bhau kōī nāh .
Those who meditate on the Name of the Fearless Lord have no fear.
ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਤਿਨੀ ਸਰੇਵਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਹਿ ॥
har utam tinī sarēviā jin kau dhur likhiā āh .
Those who have such pre-destined destiny remember the Sublime Lord.
ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪੈਨਾਈਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
tē har daragah paināīah jin har vuthā man māh .
Those, within whose minds the Lord abides, are robed with honor in the Court of the Lord.
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਨ ਪਿਛੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਹਿ ॥
ōi āp tarē sabh kutanb siu tin pishai sabh jagat shadāh .
They are carried across, along with all their family, and the whole world is saved along with them.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਜਨ ਤਿਨ ਵੇਖਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਮ ਜੀਵਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
jan nānak kau har mēl jan tin vēkh vēkh ham jīvāh .1.
O Lord, please unite servant Nanak with Your humble servants; beholding them, beholding them, I live. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਸਾ ਧਰਤੀ ਭਈ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੈਠਾ ਆਇ ॥
sā dharatī bhaī harīāvalī jithai mērā satigur baithā āi .
That land, where my True Guru comes and sits, becomes green and fertile.
ਸੇ ਜੰਤ ਭਏ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੇ ਜਿਨੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
sē jant bhaē harīāvalē jinī mērā satigur dēkhiā jāi .
Those beings who go and behold my True Guru are rejuvenated.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਕੁਲੁ ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੁ ਜਨਨੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਣਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥
dhan dhann pitā dhan dhann kul dhan dhan s jananī jin gurū janiā māi .
Blessed, blessed is the father; blessed, blessed is the family; blessed, blessed is the mother, who gave birth to the Guru.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਜਿਨੀ ਡਿਠਾ ਤਿਨਾ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
dhan dhann gurū jin nām arādhiā āp tariā jinī dithā tinā laē shadāi .
Blessed, blessed is the Guru, who worships and adores the Naam; He saves Himself, and emancipates those who see Him.
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
har satigur mēlah daiā kar jan nānak dhōvai pāi .2.
O Lord, be kind, and unite me with the True Guru, that servant Nanak may wash His feet. ||2||

ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
sach sachā satigur amar hai jis andar har ur dhāriā .
Truest of the True is the Immortal True Guru; He has enshrined the Lord deep within His heart.
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
sach sachā satigur purakh hai jin kām krōdh bikh māriā .
Truest of the True is the True Guru, the Primal Being, who has conquered sexual desire, anger and corruption.
ਜਾ ਡਿਠਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
jā dithā pūrā satigurū tānh andarah man sādhāriā .
When I see the Perfect True Guru, then deep within, my mind is comforted and consoled.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਘੁਮਿ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
balihārī gur āpanē sadā sadā ghum vāriā .
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru; I am devoted and dedicated to Him, forever and ever.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਤਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੧੭॥
guramukh jitā manamukh hāriā .17.
A Gurmukh wins the battle of life whereas a self-willed manmukh loses it. ||17||

Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿਓਨੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਸੀ ॥
kar kirapā satigur mēliōn mukh guramukh nām dhiāisī .
By His Grace, He leads us to meet the True Guru; then, as Gurmukh, we chant the Lord's Name, and meditate on it.
ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਘਰੀ ਵਸਾਇਸੀ ॥
sō karē j satigur bhāvasī gur pūrā gharī vasāisī .
We do that which pleases the True Guru; the Perfect Guru comes to dwell in the home of the heart.
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਸਭੁ ਗਵਾਇਸੀ ॥
jin andar nām nidhān hai tin kā bhau sabh gavāisī .
Those who have the treasure of the Naam deep within - all their fears are removed.
ਜਿਨ ਰਖਣ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਇ ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਜਾਇਸੀ ॥
jin rakhan kau har āp hōi hōr kētī jhakh jhakh jāisī .
They are protected by the Lord Himself; others struggle and fight against them, but they only come to death.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਛੋਡਾਇਸੀ ॥੧॥
jan nānak nām dhiāi tū har halat palat shōdāisī .1.
O servant Nanak, meditate on the Naam; the Lord shall deliver you, here and hereafter. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਦੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
gurasikhā kai man bhāvadī gur satigur kī vadiāī .
The glorious greatness of the Guru, the True Guru, is pleasing to the GurSikh's mind.
ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥
har rākhah paij satigurū kī nit charai savāī .
The Lord preserves the honor of the True Guru, which increases day by day.
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਛਡਾਈ ॥
gur satigur kai man pārabraham hai pārabraham shadāī .
The Supreme Lord God is in the Mind of the Guru, the True Guru; the Supreme Lord God saves Him.
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਾਣੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਭ ਆਣਿ ਨਿਵਾਈ ॥
gur satigur tān dībān har tin sabh ān nivāī .
The Lord is the Power and Support of the Guru, the True Guru; all come to bow before Him.
ਜਿਨੀ ਡਿਠਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
jinī dithā mērā satigur bhāu kar tin kē sabh pāp gavāī .
Those who have gazed lovingly upon my True Guru - all their sins are taken away.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
har daragah tē mukh ujalē bah sōbhā pāī .
Their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord, and they obtain great glory.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਧੂੜਿ ਤਿਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੨॥
jan nānak mangai dhūr tin jō gur kē sikh mērē bhāī .2.
Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of those GurSikhs, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||2||

ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
hau ākh salāhī siphat sach sach sachē kī vadiāī .
I chant the Praises and Glories of the True One. True is the glorious greatness of the True Lord.
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
sālāhī sach salāh sach sach kīmat kinai n pāī .
I praise the True Lord, and the Praises of the True Lord. His worth cannot be estimated.
