ਇਸ ਹੀ ਮਧੇ ਬਸਤੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
is hī madhē basat apār .
The infinite substance is within it.
ਇਸ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸੁਨੀਅਤ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
is hī bhītar sunīat sāh .
Within it, the great merchant is said to dwell.
ਕਵਨੁ ਬਾਪਾਰੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਊਹਾ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ॥੧॥
kavan bāpārī jā kā ūhā visāh .1.
Who is the trader who deals there? ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨ ਕੋ ਕੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੀ ॥
nām ratan kō kō biuhārī .
How rare is that trader who deals in the jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਆਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anmrit bhōjan karē āhārī .1. rahāu .
He takes the Ambrosial Nectar as his food. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
man tan arapī sēv karījai .
He dedicates his mind and body to serving the Lord.
ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਭੀਜੈ ॥
kavan s jugat jit kar bhījai .
How can we please the Lord?
ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਤਜਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰੈ ॥
pāi lagau taj mērā tērai .
I fall at His Feet, and I renounce all sense of 'mine and yours'.
ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਜੋ ਸਉਦਾ ਜੋਰੈ ॥੨॥
kavan s jan jō saudā jōrai .2.
Who can settle this bargain? ||2||
ਮਹਲੁ ਸਾਹ ਕਾ ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
mahal sāh kā kin bidh pāvai .
How can I attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence?
ਕਵਨ ਸੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥
kavan s bidh jit bhītar bulāvai .
How can I get Him to call me inside?
ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਸਾਹੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੋਟਿ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ॥
tūn vad sāh jā kē kōt vanajārē .
You are the Great Merchant; You have millions of traders.
ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਲੇ ਸੰਚਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
kavan s dātā lē sanchārē .3.
Who is the benefactor? Who can take me to Him? ||3||
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਨਿਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
khōjat khōjat nij ghar pāiā .
Seeking and searching, I have found my own home, deep within my own being.
ਅਮੋਲ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥
amōl ratan sāch dikhalāiā .
The True Lord has shown me the priceless jewel.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਬ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਾਹਿ ॥
kar kirapā jab mēlē sāh .
When the Great Merchant shows His Mercy, He blends us into Himself.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਵੇਸਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੮੫॥
kah nānak gur kai vēsāh .4.16.85.
Says Nanak, place your faith in the Guru. ||4||16||85||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ॥
gaurī mahalā 5 guārērī .

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਹੈ ਇਕ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
rain dinas rahai ik rangā .
Night and day, they remain in the Love of the One.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
prabh kau jānai sad hī sangā .
They know that God is always with them.
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੀਓ ਉਨਿ ਵਰਤਨਿ ॥
thākur nām kīō un varatan .
They make the Name of their Lord and Master their way of life;
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ॥੧॥
tripat aghāvan har kai darasan .1.
they are satisfied and fulfilled with the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਹਰੇ ॥
har sang rātē man tan harē .
Imbued with the Love of the Lord, their minds and bodies are rejuvenated,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur pūrē kī saranī parē .1. rahāu .
entering the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਆਤਮ ਆਧਾਰ ॥
charan kamal ātam ādhār .
The Lord's Lotus Feet are the Support of the soul.
ਏਕੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਹਿ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰ ॥
ēk nihārah āgiākār .
They see only the One, and obey His Order.
ਏਕੋ ਬਨਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੀ ॥
ēkō banaj ēkō biuhārī .
There is only one trade, and one occupation.
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
avar n jānah bin nirankārī .2.
They know no other than the Formless Lord. ||2||
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਦੁਹਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤੇ ॥
harakh sōg duhahūn tē mukatē .
They are free of both pleasure and pain.
ਸਦਾ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਜੋਗ ਅਰੁ ਜੁਗਤੇ ॥
sadā alipat jōg ar jugatē .
They remain unattached, joined to the Lord's Way.
ਦੀਸਹਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
dīsah sabh mah sabh tē rahatē .
They are seen among all, and yet they are distinct from all.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਓਇ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਰਤੇ ॥੩॥
pārabraham kā ōi dhiān dharatē .3.
They focus their meditation on the Supreme Lord God. ||3||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਵਨ ਵਖਾਨਉ ॥
santan kī mahimā kavan vakhānau .
How can I describe the Glories of the Saints?
ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਉ ॥
agādh bōdh kish mit nahī jānau .
Their knowledge is unfathomable; their limits cannot be known.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
pārabraham mōh kirapā kījai .
O Supreme Lord God, please shower Your Mercy upon me.
ਧੂਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੮੬॥
dhūr santan kī nānak dījai .4.17.86.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੀਤੁ ॥
tūn mērā prītam tum sang hīt .
You are my Beloved; I am in love with You.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗਹਣਾ ॥
tūn mērī pat tūhai mērā gahanā .
You are my honor; You are my decoration.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਮਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਰਹਣਾ ॥੧॥
tujh bin nimakh n jāī rahanā .1.
Without You, I cannot survive, even for an instant. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਲਨ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥
tūn mērē lālan tūn mērē prān .
You are my Intimate Beloved, You are my breath of life.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tūn mērē sāhib tūn mērē khān .1. rahāu .
You are my Lord and Master; You are my Leader. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਉ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹਨਾ ॥
jiu tum rākhah tiv hī rahanā .
As You keep me, so do I survive.
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਕਹਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
jō tum kahah sōī mōh karanā .
Whatever You say, that is what I do.
ਜਹ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਹਾ ਤੁਮ ਬਸਨਾ ॥
jah pēkhau tahā tum basanā .
Wherever I look, there I see You dwelling.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਸਨਾ ॥੨॥
nirabhau nām japau tērā rasanā .2.
O my Fearless Lord, with my tongue, I chant Your Name. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਤੂੰ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
tūn mērī nav nidh tūn bhandār .
You are my nine treasures, You are my storehouse.
ਰੰਗ ਰਸਾ ਤੂੰ ਮਨਹਿ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
rang rasā tūn manah adhār .
I am imbued with Your Love; You are the Support of my mind.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚੀਆ ॥
tūn mērī sōbhā tum sang rachīā .
You are my Glory; I am blended with You.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਤੂੰ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਕੀਆ ॥੩॥
tūn mērī ōt tūn hai mērā takīā .3.
You are my Shelter; You are my Anchoring Support. ||3||
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੁਹੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
man tan antar tuhī dhiāiā .
Deep within my mind and body, I meditate on You.
ਮਰਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
maram tumārā gur tē pāiā .
I have obtained Your secret from the Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਿਆ ਇਕੁ ਏਕੈ ॥
satigur tē dririā ik ēkai .
Through the True Guru, the One and only Lord was implanted within me;
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕੈ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੮੭॥
nānak dās har har har tēkai .4.18.87.
servant Nanak has taken to the Support of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||4||18||87||
