ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥
ukat siānap sagalī tiāg .
Give up all your clever tricks and devices,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੨॥
sant janā kī charanī lāg .2.
and hold tight to the Feet of the Saints. ||2||
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਹਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
sarab jī hah jā kai hāth .
The One, who holds all creatures in His Hands,
ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜੈ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਸਾਥਿ ॥
kadē n vishurai sabh kai sāth .
is never separated from them; He is with them all.
ਉਪਾਵ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਓਟ ॥
upāv shōd gah tis kī ōt .
Abandon your clever devices, and grasp hold of His Support.
ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਛੋਟਿ ॥੩॥
nimakh māh hōvai tērī shōt .3.
In an instant, you shall be saved. ||3||
ਸਦਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
sadā nikat kar tis nō jān .
Know that He is always near at hand.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
prabh kī āgiā sat kar mān .
Accept the Order of God as True.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਆਪੁ ॥
gur kai bachan mitāvah āp .
Through the Guru's Teachings, eradicate selfishness and conceit.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਜਾਪੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੭੩॥
har har nām nānak jap jāp .4.4.73.
O Nanak, chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||4||73||
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
gur kā bachan sadā abināsī .
The Guru's Word is eternal and everlasting.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਕਟੀ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
gur kai bachan katī jam phāsī .
The Guru's Word cuts away the noose of Death.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
gur kā bachan jī kai sang .
The Guru's Word is always with the soul.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਰਚੈ ਰਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
gur kai bachan rachai rām kai rang .1.
Through the Guru's Word, one is immersed in the Love of the Lord. ||1||
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ॥
jō gur dīā s man kai kām .
Whatever the Guru gives, is useful to the mind.
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant kā kīā sat kar mān .1. rahāu .
Whatever the Saint does - accept that as True. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਅਟਲ ਅਛੇਦ ॥
gur kā bachan atal ashēd .
The Guru's Word is infallible and unchanging.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਕਟੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੇਦ ॥
gur kai bachan katē bhram bhēd .
Through the Guru's Word, doubt and prejudice are dispelled.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur kā bachan katah n jāi .
The Guru's Word never goes away;
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥
gur kai bachan har kē gun gāi .2.
through the Guru's Word, we sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸਾਥ ॥
gur kā bachan jī kai sāth .
The Guru's Word accompanies the soul.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥
gur kā bachan anāth kō nāth .
The Guru's Word is the Master of the masterless.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਪਵੈ ॥
gur kai bachan narak n pavai .
The Guru's Word saves one from falling into hell.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਵੈ ॥੩॥
gur kai bachan rasanā anmrit ravai .3.
Through the Guru's Word, the tongue savors the Ambrosial Nectar. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
gur kā bachan paragat sansār .
The Guru's Word is revealed in the world.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
gur kai bachan n āvai hār .
Through the Guru's Word, no one suffers defeat.
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੪॥੫॥੭੪॥
jis jan hōē āp kripāl . nānak satigur sadā daiāl .4.5.74.
O Nanak, the True Guru is always kind and compassionate, unto those whom the Lord Himself has blessed with His Mercy. ||4||5||74||
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਤੇ ਰਤਨੁ ॥
jin kītā mātī tē ratan .
He makes jewels out of the dust,
ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਤਨੁ ॥
garabh mah rākhiā jin kar jatan .
and He managed to preserve you in the womb.
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jin dīnī sōbhā vadiāī .
He has given you fame and greatness;
ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
tis prabh kau āth pahar dhiāī .1.
meditate on that God, twenty-four hours a day. ||1||
ਰਮਈਆ ਰੇਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
ramaīā rēn sādh jan pāvau .
O Lord, I seek the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur mil apunā khasam dhiāvau .1. rahāu .
Meeting the Guru, I meditate on my Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਮੂੜ ਤੇ ਬਕਤਾ ॥
jin kītā mūr tē bakatā .
He transformed me, the fool, into a fine speaker,
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਬੇਸੁਰਤ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਤਾ ॥
jin kītā bēsurat tē suratā .
and He made the unconscious become conscious;
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਵੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jis parasād navai nidh pāī .
by His Grace, I have obtained the nine treasures.
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
sō prabh man tē bisarat nāhī .2.
May I never forget that God from my mind. ||2||
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
jin dīā nithāvē kau thān .
He has given a home to the homeless;
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jin dīā nimānē kau mān .
He has given honor to the dishonored.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਸਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
jin kīnī sabh pūran āsā .
He has fulfilled all desires;
ਸਿਮਰਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
simarau din rain sās girāsā .3.
remember Him in meditation, day and night, with every breath and every morsel of food. ||3||
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਿਲਕ ਕਾਟੀ ॥
jis prasād māiā silak kātī .
By His Grace, the bonds of Maya are cut away.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਟੀ ॥
gur prasād anmrit bikh khātī .
By Guru's Grace, the bitter poison has become Ambrosial Nectar.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
kah nānak is tē kish nāhī .
Says Nanak, I cannot do anything;
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੭੫॥
rākhanahārē kau sālāhī .4.6.75.
I praise the Lord, the Protector. ||4||6||75||
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਉ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
tis kī saran nāhī bhau sōg .
In His Sanctuary, there is no fear or sorrow.
ਉਸ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
us tē bāhar kashū n hōg .
Without Him, nothing at all can be done.
ਤਜੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਬਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
tajī siānap bal budh bikār .
I have renounced clever tricks, power and intellectual corruption.
ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ॥੧॥
dās apanē kī rākhanahār .1.
God is the Protector of His servant. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
jap man mērē rām rām rang .
Meditate, O my mind, on the Lord, Raam, Raam, with love.
ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਦ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ghar bāhar tērai sad sang .1. rahāu .
Within your home, and beyond it, He is always with you. ||1||Pause||
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਮਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥
tis kī tēk manai mah rākh .
Keep His Support in your mind.
