ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਾ ॥
hasatī ghōrē dēkh vigāsā .
He is pleased at the sight of his elephants and horses
ਲਸਕਰ ਜੋੜੇ ਨੇਬ ਖਵਾਸਾ ॥
lasakar jōrē nēb khavāsā .
and his armies assembled, his servants and his soldiers.
ਗਲਿ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੇ ਫਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
gal jēvarī haumai kē phāsā .2.
But the noose of egotism is tightening around his neck. ||2||
ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
rāj kamāvai dah dis sārī .
His rule may extend in all ten directions;
ਮਾਣੈ ਰੰਗ ਭੋਗ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
mānai rang bhōg bah nārī .
he may revel in pleasures, and enjoy many women
ਜਿਉ ਨਰਪਤਿ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
jiu narapat supanai bhēkhārī .3.
- but he is just a beggar, who in his dream, is a king. ||3||
ਏਕੁ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਬਤਾਇਆ ॥
ēk kusal mō kau satigurū batāiā .
The True Guru has shown me that there is only one pleasure.
ਹਰਿ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
har jō kish karē s har kiā bhagatā bhāiā .
Whatever the Lord does, is pleasing to the Lord's devotee.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
jan nānak haumai mār samāiā .4.
Servant Nanak has abolished his ego, and he is absorbed in the Lord. ||4||
ਇਨਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲ ਹੋਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
in bidh kusal hōt mērē bhāī .
This is the way to find happiness, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਇਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
iu pāīai har rām sahāī .1. rahāu dūjā .
This is the way to find the Lord, our Help and Support. ||1||Second Pause||

ਕਿਉ ਭ੍ਰਮੀਐ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
kiu bhramīai bhram kis kā hōī .
Why do you doubt? What do you doubt?
ਜਾ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥
jā jal thal mahīal raviā sōī .
God is pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੧॥
guramukh ubarē manamukh pat khōī .1.
The Gurmukhs are saved, while the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor. ||1||
ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਦਇਆਰਾ ॥
jis rākhai āp rām daiārā .
One who is protected by the Merciful Lord
ਤਿਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis nahī dūjā kō pahuchanahārā .1. rahāu .
- no one else can rival him. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੁ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥
sabh mah varatai ēk anantā .
The Infinite One is pervading among all.
ਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਉ ਹੋਇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
tā tūn sukh sōu hōi achintā .
So sleep in peace, and don't worry.
ਓਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਵਰਤੰਤਾ ॥੨॥
ōh sabh kish jānai jō varatantā .2.
He knows everything which happens. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਜਿਨ ਦੂਜੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
manamukh muē jin dūjī piāsā .
The self-willed manmukhs are dying in the thirst of duality.
ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਵਹਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸਾ ॥
bah jōnī bhavah dhur kirat likhiāsā .
They wander lost through countless incarnations; this is their pre-ordained destiny.
ਜੈਸਾ ਬੀਜਹਿ ਤੈਸਾ ਖਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
jaisā bījah taisā khāsā .3.
As they plant, so shall they harvest. ||3||
ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਵਿਗਾਸਾ ॥
dēkh daras man bhaiā vigāsā .
Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my mind has blossomed forth.
ਸਭੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
sabh nadarī āiā braham paragāsā .
And now everywhere I look, God is revealed to me.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੭੧॥
jan nānak kī har pūran āsā .4.2.71.
Servant Nanak's hopes have been fulfilled by the Lord. ||4||2||71||

In so many incarnations, you were a worm and an insect;
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗਜ ਮੀਨ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥
kaī janam gaj mīn kurangā .
in so many incarnations, you were an elephant, a fish and a deer.
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਰਪ ਹੋਇਓ ॥
kaī janam pankhī sarap hōiō .
In so many incarnations, you were a bird and a snake.
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਹੈਵਰ ਬ੍ਰਿਖ ਜੋਇਓ ॥੧॥
kaī janam haivar brikh jōiō .1.
In so many incarnations, you were yoked as an ox and a horse. ||1||
ਮਿਲੁ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
mil jagadīs milan kī barīā .
Meet the Lord of the Universe - now is the time to meet Him.
ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਸੰਜਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chirankāl ih dēh sanjarīā .1. rahāu .
After so very long, this human body was fashioned for you. ||1||Pause||
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਸੈਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
kaī janam sail gir kariā .
In so many incarnations, you were rocks and mountains;
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗਰਭ ਹਿਰਿ ਖਰਿਆ ॥
kaī janam garabh hir khariā .
in so many incarnations, you were aborted in the womb;
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਸਾਖ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
kaī janam sākh kar upāiā .
in so many incarnations, you developed branches and leaves;
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
lakh chaurāsīh jōn bhramāiā .2.
you wandered through 8.4 million incarnations. ||2||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਇਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ॥
sādhasang bhaiō janam parāpat .
Through the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you obtained this human life.
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ॥
kar sēvā bhaj har har guramat .
Do seva - selfless service; follow the Guru's Teachings, and vibrate the Lord's Name, Har, Har.
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
tiāg mān jhūth abhimān .
Abandon pride, falsehood and arrogance.
ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
jīvat marah daragah paravān .3.
Remain dead while yet alive, and you shall be welcomed in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੁ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
jō kish hōā s tujh tē hōg .
Whatever has been, and whatever shall be, comes from You, Lord.
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
avar n dūjā karanai jōg .
No one else can do anything at all.
ਤਾ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਜਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
tā milīai jā laih milāi .
We are united with You, when You unite us with Yourself.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੭੨॥
kah nānak har har gun gāi .4.3.72.
Says Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||3||72||

ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਹਿ ਬੋਅਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
karam bhūm mah bōah nām .
In the field of karma, plant the seed of the Naam.
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
pūran hōi tumārā kām .
Your works shall be brought to fruition.
ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਿਟੈ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
phal pāvah mitai jam trās .
You shall obtain these fruits, and the fear of death shall be dispelled.
ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਸ ॥੧॥
nit gāvah har har gun jās .1.
Sing continually the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
har har nām antar ur dhār .
Keep the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, enshrined in your heart,
ਸੀਘਰ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sīghar kāraj lēh savār .1. rahāu .
and your affairs shall be quickly resolved. ||1||Pause||
ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਹੋਹੁ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੁ ॥
apanē prabh siu hōh sāvadhān .
Be always attentive to your God;
ਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
tā tūn daragah pāvah mān .
thus you shall be honored in His Court.
