Raag Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mehl:
ਰਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਇਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਹੈ ॥
rām simar rām simar ihai tērai kāj hai .
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord - meditate on the Lord; this alone shall be of use to you.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕੋ ਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
māiā kō sang tiāg prabh jū kī saran lāg .
Abandon your association with Maya, and take shelter in the Sanctuary of God.
ਜਗਤ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਝੂਠੋ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jagat sukh mān mithiā jhūthō sabh sāj hai .1. rahāu .
Remember that the pleasures of the world are false; this whole show is just an illusion. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਜਿਉ ਧਨੁ ਪਛਾਨੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਪਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
supanē jiu dhan pashān kāhē par karat mān .
You must understand that this wealth is just a dream. Why are you so proud?
ਬਾਰੂ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਕੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
bārū kī bhīt jaisē basudhā kō rāj hai .1.
The empires of the earth are like walls of sand. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਕਹਤੁ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜੈਹੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਗਾਤੁ ॥
nānak jan kahat bāt binas jaihai tērō gāt .
Servant Nanak speaks the Truth: your body shall perish and pass away.
ਛਿਨੁ ਛਿਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਕਾਲੁ ਤੈਸੇ ਜਾਤੁ ਆਜੁ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥
shin shin kar gaiō kāl taisē jāt āj hai .2.1.
Moment by moment, yesterday passed. Today is passing as well. ||2||1||
ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥

Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mehl:
ਰਾਮੁ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਭਜੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਿਰਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥
rām bhaj rām bhaj janam sirāt hai .
Meditate on the Lord - vibrate on the Lord; your life is slipping away.
ਕਹਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਸਮਝਤ ਨਹ ਕਿਉ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
kahau kahā bār bār samajhat nah kiu gavār .
Why am I telling you this again and again? You fool - why don't you understand?
ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਹ ਲਗੈ ਬਾਰ ਓਰੇ ਸਮ ਗਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binasat nah lagai bār ōrē sam gāt hai .1. rahāu .
Your body is like a hail-stone; it melts away in no time at all. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲ ਭਰਮ ਡਾਰਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
sagal bharam dār dēh gōbind kō nām lēh .
So give up all your doubts, and utter the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅੰਤਿ ਬਾਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਇਹੈ ਏਕੁ ਜਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ant bār sang tērai ihai ēk jāt hai .1.
At the very last moment, this alone shall go along with you. ||1||
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਿਉ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੌ ਜਸੁ ਹੀਏ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
bikhiā bikh jiu bisār prabh kau jas hīē dhār .
Forget the poisonous sins of corruption, and enshrine the Praises of God in your heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਬਿਹਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥
nānak jan kah pukār ausar bihāt hai .2.2.
Servant Nanak proclaims that this opportunity is slipping away. ||2||2||
ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਉਨ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
rē man kaun gat hōi hai tērī .
O mortal, what will your condition be?
ਇਹ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋ ਤਉ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਕਾਨਿ ॥
ih jag mah rām nām sō tau nahī suniō kān .
In this world, you have not listened to the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਅਤਿ ਲੁਭਾਨਿ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਹਿਨ ਫੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bikhian siu at lubhān mat nāhin phērī .1. rahāu .
You are totally engrossed in corruption and sin; you have not turned your mind away from them at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਨਸ ਕੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਲੀਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਨਹ ਨਿਮਖ ਕੀਨੁ ॥
mānas kō janam līn simaran nah nimakh kīn .
You obtained this human life, but you have not remembered the Lord in meditation, even for an instant.
ਦਾਰਾ ਸੁਖ ਭਇਓ ਦੀਨੁ ਪਗਹੁ ਪਰੀ ਬੇਰੀ ॥੧॥
dārā sukh bhaiō dīn pagah parī bērī .1.
For the sake of pleasure, you have become subservient to your woman, and now your feet are bound. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਜਿਉ ਜਗ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥
nānak jan kah pukār supanai jiu jag pasār .
Servant Nanak proclaims that the vast expanse of this world is just a dream.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਹ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਚੇਰੀ ॥੨॥੩॥
simarat nah kiu murār māiā jā kī chērī .2.3.
Why not meditate on the Lord? Even Maya is His slave. ||2||3||
ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥

ਬੀਤ ਜੈਹੈ ਬੀਤ ਜੈਹੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਜੁ ਰੇ ॥
bīt jaihai bīt jaihai janam akāj rē .
Slipping away - your life is uselessly slipping away.
ਨਿਸਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਮਝਤ ਨਹ ਰੇ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
nis din sun kai purān samajhat nah rē ajān .
Night and day, you listen to the Puraanas, but you do not understand them, you ignorant fool!
ਕਾਲੁ ਤਉ ਪਹੂਚਿਓ ਆਨਿ ਕਹਾ ਜੈਹੈ ਭਾਜਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kāl tau pahūchiō ān kahā jaihai bhāj rē .1. rahāu .
Death has arrived; now where will you run? ||1||Pause||
