ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਨਾਗਰ ਜਨਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆਤ ਚੰਮਾਰੰ ॥
nāgar janānh mērī jāt bikhiāt chanmāran .
O humble townspeople, I am obviously just a shoemaker.
ਰਿਦੈ ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨ ਸਾਰੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ridai rām gōbind gun sāran .1. rahāu .
In my heart I cherish the Glories of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਸਲਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਰੁਨੀ ਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਨੰ ॥
surasarī salal krit bārunī rē sant jan karat nahī pānan .
Even if wine is made from the water of the Ganges, O Saints, do not drink it.
ਸੁਰਾ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਤ ਅਵਰ ਜਲ ਰੇ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਨਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਆਨੰ ॥੧॥
surā apavitr nat avar jal rē surasarī milat nah hōi ānan .1.
This wine, and any other polluted water which mixes with the Ganges, is not separate from it. ||1||
ਤਰ ਤਾਰਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਰੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਗਰਾ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੰ ॥
tar tār apavitr kar mānīai rē jaisē kāgarā karat bīchāran .
The palmyra palm tree is considered impure, and so its leaves are considered impure as well.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਗਉਤੁ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰੇ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੰ ॥੨॥
bhagat bhāgaut likhīai tih ūparē pūjīai kar namasakāran .2.
But if devotional prayers are written on paper made from its leaves, then people bow in reverence and worship before it. ||2||
ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਟ ਬਾਂਢਲਾ ਢੋਰ ਢੋਵੰਤਾ ਨਿਤਹਿ ਬਾਨਾਰਸੀ ਆਸ ਪਾਸਾ ॥
mērī jāt kut bānhdhalā dhōr dhōvantā nitah bānārasī ās pāsā .
It is my occupation to prepare and cut leather; each day, I carry the carcasses out of the city.
ਅਬ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਤਿਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੧॥
ab bipr paradhān tih karah dandaut tērē nām saranāi ravidās dāsā .3.1.
Now, the important Brahmins of the city bow down before me; Ravi Daas, Your slave, seeks the Sanctuary of Your Name. ||3||1||

Malaar:
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਤੇਊ ਜਨਾ ਪਦਮ ਕਵਲਾਸ ਪਤਿ ਤਾਸ ਸਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
har japat tēū janā padam kavalās pat tās sam tul nahī ān kōū .
Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord's Lotus Feet - none are equal to them.
ਏਕ ਹੀ ਏਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਸਥਰਿਓ ਆਨ ਰੇ ਆਨ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸੋਊ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ēk hī ēk anēk hōi bisathariō ān rē ān bharapūr sōū . rahāu .
The Lord is One, but He is diffused in many forms. Bring in, bring in, that All-pervading Lord. ||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਭਾਗਵਤੁ ਲੇਖੀਐ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਤਾਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਆਛੋਪ ਛੀਪਾ ॥
jā kai bhāgavat lēkhīai avar nahī pēkhīai tās kī jāt āshōp shīpā .
He who writes the Praises of the Lord God, and sees nothing else at all, is a low-class, untouchable fabric-dyer by trade.
ਬਿਆਸ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੀਐ ਸਨਕ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਨਾਮਨਾ ਸਪਤ ਦੀਪਾ ॥੧॥
biās mah lēkhīai sanak mah pēkhīai nām kī nāmanā sapat dīpā .1.
The Glory of the Name is seen in the writings of Vyaas and Sanak, throughout the seven continents. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਈਦਿ ਬਕਰੀਦਿ ਕੁਲ ਗਊ ਰੇ ਬਧੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਾਨੀਅਹਿ ਸੇਖ ਸਹੀਦ ਪੀਰਾ ॥
jā kai īd bakarīd kul gaū rē badh karah mānīah sēkh sahīd pīrā .
And he whose family used to kill cows at the festivals of Eed and Bakareed, who worshipped Shayks, martyrs and spiritual teachers,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਬਾਪ ਵੈਸੀ ਕਰੀ ਪੂਤ ਐਸੀ ਸਰੀ ਤਿਹੂ ਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਸਿਧ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
jā kai bāp vaisī karī pūt aisī sarī tihū rē lōk parasidh kabīrā .2.
whose father used to do such things - his son Kabeer became so successful that he is now famous throughout the three worlds. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਕੇ ਢੇਢ ਸਭ ਢੋਰ ਢੋਵੰਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਜਹੁ ਬੰਨਾਰਸੀ ਆਸ ਪਾਸਾ ॥
jā kē kutanb kē dhēdh sabh dhōr dhōvant phirah ajah bannārasī ās pāsā .
And all the leather-workers in those families still go around Benares removing the dead cattle
ਆਚਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਬਿਪ੍ਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਤਨੈ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਾਨ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੨॥
āchār sahit bipr karah dandaut tin tanai ravidās dāsān dāsā .3.2.
- the ritualistic Brahmins bow in reverence before their son Ravi Daas, the slave of the Lord's slaves. ||3||2||

ਮਿਲਤ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਨਾਥੁ ਕਵਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇ ॥
milat piārō prān nāth kavan bhagat tē .
What sort of devotional worship will lead me to meet my Beloved, the Lord of my breath of life?
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sādhasangat pāī param gatē . rahāu .
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have obtained the supreme status. ||Pause||
ਮੈਲੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਕਹਾ ਲਉ ਧੋਵਉ ॥
mailē kaparē kahā lau dhōvau .
How long shall I wash these dirty clothes?
ਆਵੈਗੀ ਨੀਦ ਕਹਾ ਲਗੁ ਸੋਵਉ ॥੧॥
āvaigī nīd kahā lag sōvau .1.
How long shall I remain asleep? ||1||
ਜੋਈ ਜੋਈ ਜੋਰਿਓ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਫਾਟਿਓ ॥
jōī jōī jōriō sōī sōī phātiō .
Whatever I was attached to, has perished.
ਝੂਠੈ ਬਨਜਿ ਉਠਿ ਹੀ ਗਈ ਹਾਟਿਓ ॥੨॥
jhūthai banaj uth hī gaī hātiō .2.
The shop of false merchandise has closed down. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਭਇਓ ਜਬ ਲੇਖੋ ॥
kah ravidās bhaiō jab lēkhō .
Says Ravi Daas, when the account is called for and given,
ਜੋਈ ਜੋਈ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਖਿਓ ॥੩॥੧॥੩॥
jōī jōī kīnō sōī sōī dēkhiō .3.1.3.
whatever the mortal has done, he shall see. ||3||1||3||
