ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਰਣੀ ਊਤਮ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
har jan karanī ūtam hai har kīrat jag bisathār .3.
The lifestyle of the Lord's humble servant is exalted and sublime. He spreads the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises throughout the world. ||3||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
kripā kripā kar thākur mērē har har har ur dhār .
O my Lord and Master, please be merciful, merciful to me, that I may enshrine the Lord, Har, Har, Har, within my heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੯॥
nānak satigur pūrā pāiā man japiā nām murār .4.9.
Nanak has found the Perfect True Guru; in his mind, he chants the Name of the Lord. ||4||9||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
ih man girahī k ih man udāsī .
Is this mind a householder, or is this mind a detached renunciate?
ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਵਰਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
k ih man avaran sadā avināsī .
Is this mind beyond social class, eternal and unchanging?
ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
k ih man chanchal k ih man bairāgī .
Is this mind fickle, or is this mind detached?
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
is man kau mamatā kithah lāgī .1.
How has this mind been gripped by possessiveness? ||1||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
pandit is man kā karah bīchār .
O Pandit, O religious scholar, reflect on this in your mind.
ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਉਠਾਵਹਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar k bahutā parah uthāvah bhār .1. rahāu .
Why do you read so many other things, and carry such a heavy load? ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਾਈ ॥
māiā mamatā karatai lāī .
The Creator has attached it to Maya and possessiveness.
ਏਹੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
ēh hukam kar srisat upāī .
Enforcing His Order, He created the world.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
gur parasādī būjhah bhāī .
By Guru's Grace, understand this, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
sadā rahah har kī saranāī .2.
Remain forever in the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||2||
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਜੋ ਤਿਹਾਂ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੀ ਪੰਡ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥
sō pandit jō tihānh gunā kī pand utārai .
He alone is a Pandit, who sheds the load of the three qualities.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
anadin ēkō nām vakhānai .
Night and day, he chants the Name of the One Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਓਹੁ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਲੇਇ ॥
satigur kī ōh dīkhiā lēi .
He accepts the Teachings of the True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰੇਇ ॥
satigur āgai sīs dharēi .
He offers his head to the True Guru.
ਸਦਾ ਅਲਗੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
sadā alag rahai nirabān .
He remains forever unattached in the state of Nirvaanaa.
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
sō pandit daragah paravān .3.
Such a Pandit is accepted in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਸਭਨਾਂ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
sabhanānh mah ēkō ēk vakhānai .
He preaches that the One Lord is within all beings.
ਜਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jānh ēkō vēkhai tānh ēkō jānai .
As he sees the One Lord, he knows the One Lord.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
jā kau bakhasē mēlē sōi .
That person, whom the Lord forgives, is united with Him.
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥
aithai ōthai sadā sukh hōi .4.
He finds eternal peace, here and hereafter. ||4||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਇ ॥
kahat nānak kavan bidh karē kiā kōi .
Says Nanak, what can anyone do?
ਸੋਈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
sōī mukat jā kau kirapā hōi .
He alone is liberated, whom the Lord blesses with His Grace.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
anadin har gun gāvai sōi .
Night and day, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਕੂਕ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੦॥
sāsatr bēd kī phir kūk n hōi .5.1.10.
Then, he no longer bothers with the proclamations of the Shaastras or the Vedas. ||5||1||10||

Malaar, Third Mehl:
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
bhram bhram jōn manamukh bharamāī .
The self-willed manmukhs wander lost in reincarnation, confused and deluded by doubt.
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
jamakāl mārē nit pat gavāī .
The Messenger of Death constantly beats them and disgraces them.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥
satigur sēvā jam kī kān chukāī .
Serving the True Guru, the mortal's subservience to Death is ended.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
har prabh miliā mahal ghar pāī .1.
He meets the Lord God, and enters the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
prānī guramukh nām dhiāi .
O mortal, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਖੋਇਆ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam padārath dubidhā khōiā kaudī badalai jāi .1. rahāu .
In duality, you are ruining and wasting this priceless human life. You trade it away in exchange for a shell. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
kar kirapā guramukh lagai piār .
The Gurmukh falls in love with the Lord, by His Grace.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥
antar bhagat har har ur dhār .
He enshrines loving devotion to the Lord, Har, Har, deep within his heart.
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
bhavajal sabad langhāvanahār .
The Word of the Shabad carries him across the terrifying world-ocean.
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
dar sāchai disai sachiār .2.
He appears true in the True Court of the Lord. ||2||
ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bah karam karē satigur nahī pāiā .
Performing all sorts of rituals, they do not find the True Guru.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
bin gur bharam bhūlē bah māiā .
Without the Guru, so many wander lost and confused in Maya.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਬਹੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥
haumai mamatā bah mōh vadhāiā .
Egotism, possessiveness and attachment rise up and increase within them.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
dūjai bhāi manamukh dukh pāiā .3.
In the love of dualty, the self-willed manmukhs suffer in pain. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥
āpē karatā agam athāhā .
The Creator Himself is Inaccessible and Infinite.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
gur sabadī japīai sach lāhā .
Chant the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and earn the true profit.
ਹਾਜਰੁ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥
hājar hajūr har vēparavāhā .
The Lord is Independent, Ever-present, here and now.
