Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਫਲ ਸੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
saphal s bānī jit nām vakhānī .
Blessed are those words, by which the Naam is chanted.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
gur parasād kinai viralai jānī .
Rare are those who know this, by Guru's Grace.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
dhann s vēlā jit har gāvat sunanā āē tē paravānā jīu .1.
Blessed is that time when one sings and hears the Lord's Name. Blessed and approved is the coming of such a one. ||1||
ਸੇ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਾ ॥
sē nētr paravān jinī darasan pēkhā .
Those eyes which behold the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan are approved and accepted.
ਸੇ ਕਰ ਭਲੇ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਲੇਖਾ ॥
sē kar bhalē jinī har jas lēkhā .
Those hands which write the Praises of the Lord are good.
ਸੇ ਚਰਣ ਸੁਹਾਵੇ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲੇ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਛਾਣਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
sē charan suhāvē jō har mārag chalē hau bal tin sang pashānā jīu .2.
Those feet which walk in the Lord's Way are beautiful. I am a sacrifice to that Congregation in which the Lord is recognized. ||2||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
sun sājan mērē mīt piārē .
Listen, O my beloved friends and companions:
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
sādhasang khin māh udhārē .
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall be saved in an instant.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟਿ ਹੋਆ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
kilavikh kāt hōā man niramal mit gaē āvan jānā jīu .3.
Your sins will be cut out; your mind will be immaculate and pure. Your comings and goings shall cease. ||3||
ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਇਕੁ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
dui kar jōr ik binau karījai .
With my palms pressed together, I offer this prayer:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਪਥਰੁ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
kar kirapā dubadā pathar lījai .
please bless me with Your Mercy, and save this sinking stone.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੨੯॥
nānak kau prabh bhaē kripālā prabh nānak man bhānā jīu .4.22.29.
God has become merciful to Nanak; God is pleasing to Nanak's mind. ||4||22||29||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
anmrit bānī har har tērī .
The Word of Your Bani, Lord, is Ambrosial Nectar.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
sun sun hōvai param gat mērī .
Hearing it again and again, I am elevated to the supreme heights.
ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਨੂਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
jalan bujhī sītal hōi manūā satigur kā darasan pāē jīu .1.
The burning within me has been extinguished, and my mind has been cooled and soothed, by the Blessed Vision of the True Guru. ||1||
ਸੂਖੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
sūkh bhaiā dukh dūr parānā .
Happiness is obtained, and sorrow runs far away,
ਸੰਤ ਰਸਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥
sant rasan har nām vakhānā .
when the Saints chant the Lord's Name.
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਨੀਰਿ ਭਰੇ ਸਰ ਸੁਭਰ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
jal thal nīr bharē sar subhar birathā kōi n jāē jīu .2.
The sea, the dry land, and the lakes are filled with the Water of the Lord's Name; no place is left empty. ||2||
ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
daiā dhārī tin sirajanahārē .
The Creator has showered His Kindness;
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥
jī jant sagalē pratipārē .
He cherishes and nurtures all beings and creatures.
ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸਗਲੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
miharavān kirapāl daiālā sagalē tripat aghāē jīu .3.
He is Merciful, Kind and Compassionate. All are satisfied and fulfilled through Him. ||3||
ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
van trin tribhavan kītōn hariā .
The woods, the meadows and the three worlds are rendered green.
ਕਰਣਹਾਰਿ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
karanahār khin bhītar kariā .
The Doer of all did this in an instant.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੈ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਪੁਜਾਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੩੦॥
guramukh nānak tisai arādhē man kī ās pujāē jīu .4.23.30.
As Gurmukh, Nanak meditates on the One who fulfills the desires of the mind. ||4||23||30||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
tūn mērā pitā tūnhai mērā mātā .
You are my Father, and You are my Mother.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ॥
tūn mērā bandhap tūn mērā bhrātā .
You are my Relative, and You are my Brother.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ਤਾ ਭਉ ਕੇਹਾ ਕਾੜਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tūn mērā rākhā sabhanī thāī tā bhau kēhā kārā jīu .1.
You are my Protector everywhere; why should I feel any fear or anxiety? ||1||
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥
tumarī kripā tē tudh pashānā .
By Your Grace, I recognize You.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਣਾ ॥
tūn mērī ōt tūnhai mērā mānā .
You are my Shelter, and You are my Honor.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਅਖਾੜਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
tujh bin dūjā avar n kōī sabh tērā khēl akhārā jīu .2.
Without You, there is no other; the entire Universe is the Arena of Your Play. ||2||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
jī jant sabh tudh upāē .
You have created all beings and creatures.
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
jit jit bhānā tit tit lāē .
As it pleases You, You assign tasks to one and all.
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਸਾੜਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
sabh kish kītā tērā hōvai nāhī kish asārā jīu .3.
All things are Your Doing; we can do nothing ourselves. ||3||
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
nām dhiāi mahā sukh pāiā .
Meditating on the Naam, I have found great peace.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥
har gun gāi mērā man sītalāiā .
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, my mind is cooled and soothed.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਤਾ ਬਿਖਾੜਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੩੧॥
gur pūrai vajī vādhāī nānak jitā bikhārā jīu .4.24.31.
Through the Perfect Guru, congratulations are pouring in-Nanak is victorious on the arduous battlefield of life! ||4||24||31||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਹਿ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
jī prān prabh manah adhārā .
God is the Breath of Life of my soul, the Support of my mind.
ਭਗਤ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
bhagat jīvah gun gāi apārā .
His devotees live by singing the Glorious Praises of the Infinite Lord.
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gun nidhān anmrit har nāmā har dhiāi dhiāi sukh pāiā jīu .1.
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is the Treasure of Excellence. Meditating, meditating on the Lord's Name, I have found peace. ||1||
ਮਨਸਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜੋ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਆਵੈ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
manasā dhār jō ghar tē āvai . sādhasang janam maran mitāvai .
One whose heart's desires lead him from his own home to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, shall be rid of the cycle of birth and death.
