ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਭੀਤਰਿ ਪੰਚ ਗੁਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਵਾਸੇ ॥
bhītar panch gupat man vāsē .
The five evil passions dwell hidden within the mind.
ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਹਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਭਵਹਿ ਉਦਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
thir n rahah jaisē bhavah udāsē .1.
They do not remain still, but move around like wanderers. ||1||
ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹੈ ॥
man mērā daiāl sētī thir n rahai .
My soul does not stay held by the Merciful Lord.
ਲੋਭੀ ਕਪਟੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਖੰਡੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਧਿਕ ਲਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
lōbhī kapatī pāpī pākhandī māiā adhik lagai .1. rahāu .
It is greedy, deceitful, sinful and hypocritical, and totally attached to Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਫੂਲ ਮਾਲਾ ਗਲਿ ਪਹਿਰਉਗੀ ਹਾਰੋ ॥
phūl mālā gal pahiraugī hārō .
I will decorate my neck with garlands of flowers.
ਮਿਲੈਗਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਤਬ ਕਰਉਗੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥੨॥
milaigā prītam tab karaugī sīgārō .2.
When I meet my Beloved, then I will put on my decorations. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਸਖੀ ਹਮ ਏਕੁ ਭਤਾਰੋ ॥
panch sakhī ham ēk bhatārō .
I have five companions and one Spouse.
ਪੇਡਿ ਲਗੀ ਹੈ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਚਾਲਣਹਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
pēd lagī hai jīarā chālanahārō .3.
It is ordained from the very beginning, that the soul must ultimately depart. ||3||
ਪੰਚ ਸਖੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਰੁਦਨੁ ਕਰੇਹਾ ॥
panch sakhī mil rudan karēhā .
The five companions will lament together.
ਸਾਹੁ ਪਜੂਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਹਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੪॥
sāh pajūtā pranavat nānak lēkhā dēhā .4.1.34.
When the soul is trapped, prays Nanak, it is called to account. ||4||1||34||
