ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
āsā mahalā 1 .
Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਛਿਅ ਘਰ ਛਿਅ ਗੁਰ ਛਿਅ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
shi ghar shi gur shi upadēs .
There are six systems of philosophy, six teachers, and six doctrines;
ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਸ ਅਨੇਕ ॥੧॥
gur gur ēkō vēs anēk .1.
but the Teacher of teachers is the One Lord, who appears in so many forms. ||1||
ਜੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
jai ghar karatē kīrat hōi .
That system, where the Praises of the Creator are sung
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sō ghar rākh vadāī tōh .1. rahāu .
- follow that system; in it rests greatness. ||1||Pause||
ਵਿਸੁਏ ਚਸਿਆ ਘੜੀਆ ਪਹਰਾ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਹੁ ਭਇਆ ॥ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
visuē chasiā gharīā paharā thitī vārī māh bhaiā . sūraj ēkō rut anēk .
As the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weekdays months and seasons all originate from the one sun,
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਵੇਸ ॥੨॥੩੦॥
nānak karatē kē kētē vēs .2.30.
O Nanak, so do all forms originate from the One Creator. ||2||30||
