ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
āsā mahalā 1 .
Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਨ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਪੂਤੁ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
n kis kā pūt n kis kī māī .
No one is anyone else's son, and no one is anyone else's mother.
ਝੂਠੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
jhūthai mōh bharam bhulāī .1.
Through false attachments, people wander around in doubt. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹਉ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
mērē sāhib hau kītā tērā .
O My Lord and Master, I am created by You.
ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਪੀ ਨਾਉ ਤੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jānh tūn dēh japī nāu tērā .1. rahāu .
If You give it to me, I will chant Your Name. ||1||Pause||
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਕੂਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
bahutē augan kūkai kōī .
That person who is filled with all sorts of sins may pray at the Lord's Door,
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
jā tis bhāvai bakhasē sōī .2.
but he is forgiven only when the Lord so wills. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
gur parasādī duramat khōī .
By Guru's Grace, evil-mindedness is destroyed.
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
jah dēkhā tah ēkō sōī .3.
Wherever I look, there I find the One Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
kahat nānak aisī mat āvai .
Says Nanak, if one comes to such an understanding,
ਤਾਂ ਕੋ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੨੮॥
tānh kō sachē sach samāvai .4.28.
then he is absorbed into the Truest of the True. ||4||28||
