ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਦੂਜੀ ਆਨ ॥
jab lag ghat mah dūjī ān .
Know that as long as you place your hopes in others,
ਤਉ ਲਉ ਮਹਲਿ ਨ ਲਾਭੈ ਜਾਨ ॥
tau lau mahal n lābhai jān .
you shall not find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਰਮਤ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
ramat rām siu lāgō rang .
When you embrace love for the Lord,
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਤਬ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਅੰਗ ॥੮॥੧॥
kah kabīr tab niramal ang .8.1.
says Kabeer, then, you shall become pure in your very fiber. ||8||1||

ਗੁਰ ਗਮਿ ਭੇਦੁ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur gam bhēd s har kā pāvau .1. rahāu .
Meeting with the Guru, you shall come to know the mystery of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਆਦਿਤ ਕਰੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਰੰਭ ॥
ādit karai bhagat āranbh .
On Sunday, begin the devotional worship of the Lord,
ਕਾਇਆ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਨਸਾ ਥੰਭ ॥
kāiā mandar manasā thanbh .
and restrain the desires within the temple of the body.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਅਖੰਡ ਸੁਰਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
ahinis akhand surahī jāi .
When your attention is focused day and night upon that imperishable place,
ਤਉ ਅਨਹਦ ਬੇਣੁ ਸਹਜ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਇ ॥੧॥
tau anahad bēn sahaj mah bāi .1.
then the celestial flutes play the unstruck melody in tranquil peace and poise. ||1||
ਸੋਮਵਾਰਿ ਸਸਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਝਰੈ ॥
sōmavār sas anmrit jharai .
On Monday, the Ambrosial Nectar trickles down from the moon.
ਚਾਖਤ ਬੇਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਖ ਹਰੈ ॥
chākhat bēg sagal bikh harai .
Tasting it, all poisons are removed in an instant.
ਬਾਣੀ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਰਹੈ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
bānī rōkiā rahai duār .
Restrained by Gurbani, the mind remains indoors;
ਤਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਪੀਵਨਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
tau man matavārō pīvanahār .2.
drinking in this Nectar, it is intoxicated. ||2||
ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰੇ ਲੇ ਮਾਹੀਤਿ ॥
mangalavārē lē māhīt .
On Tuesday, understand reality;
ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਣੈ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
panch chōr kī jānai rīt .
you must know the way the five thieves work.
ਘਰ ਛੋਡੇਂ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
ghar shōdēnh bāhar jin jāi .
Those who leave their own home to go out wandering
ਨਾਤਰੁ ਖਰਾ ਰਿਸੈ ਹੈ ਰਾਇ ॥੩॥
nātar kharā risai hai rāi .3.
shall feel the terrible wrath of the Lord, their King. ||3||
ਬੁਧਵਾਰਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
budhavār budh karai pragās .
On Wednesday, one's understanding is enlightened.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਮਲ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਬਾਸ ॥
hiradai kamal mah har kā bās .
The Lord comes to dwell in the lotus of the heart.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੋਊ ਏਕ ਸਮ ਧਰੈ ॥
gur mil dōū ēk sam dharai .
Meeting the Guru, one comes to look alike upon pleasure and pain,
ਉਰਧ ਪੰਕ ਲੈ ਸੂਧਾ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥
uradh pank lai sūdhā karai .4.
and the inverted lotus is turned upright. ||4||
ਬ੍ਰਿਹਸਪਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਬਹਾਇ ॥
brihasapat bikhiā dēi bahāi .
On Thursday, wash off your corruption.
ਤੀਨਿ ਦੇਵ ਏਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
tīn dēv ēk sang lāi .
Forsake the trinity, and attach yourself to the One God.
ਤੀਨਿ ਨਦੀ ਤਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
tīn nadī tah trikutī māh .
At the confluence of the three rivers of knowledge, right action and devotion, there,
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਕਸਮਲ ਧੋਵਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੫॥
ahinis kasamal dhōvah nāh .5.
why not wash away your sinful mistakes? ||5||
ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਹਾਰੈ ਸੁ ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਤਿ ਚੜੈ ॥
sukrit sahārai s ih brat charai .
On Friday, keep up and complete your fast;
ਅਨਦਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਆਪ ਸਿਉ ਲੜੈ ॥
anadin āp āp siu larai .
day and night, you must fight against your own self.
ਸੁਰਖੀ ਪਾਂਚਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਬੈ ॥
surakhī pānhchau rākhai sabai .
If you restrain your five senses,
ਤਉ ਦੂਜੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਪੈਸੈ ਕਬੈ ॥੬॥
tau dūjī drisat n paisai kabai .6.
then you shall not cast your glance on another. ||6||
ਥਾਵਰ ਥਿਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੀ ਵਟੀ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਇ ॥
thāvar thir kar rākhai sōi . jōt dī vatī ghat mah jōi .
On Saturday, keep the candle of God's Light steady within your heart;
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
bāhar bhītar bhaiā pragās .
you will be enlightened, inwardly and outwardly.
ਤਬ ਹੂਆ ਸਗਲ ਕਰਮ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੭॥
tab hūā sagal karam kā nās .7.
All your karma will be erased. ||7||
