ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥੨॥

Nanak has made the Lord's Name his wealth, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru. ||2||

Pauree:
ਧੋਹੁ ਨ ਚਲੀ ਖਸਮ ਨਾਲਿ ਲਬਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੇ ॥
dhōh n chalī khasam nāl lab mōh vigutē .
Deception does not work with our Lord and Master; through their greed and emotional attachment, people are ruined.
ਕਰਤਬ ਕਰਨਿ ਭਲੇਰਿਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਤੇ ॥
karatab karan bhalēriā mad māiā sutē .
They do their evil deeds, and sleep in the intoxication of Maya.
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਮੁਤੇ ॥
phir phir jūn bhavāīan jam mārag mutē .
Time and time again, they are consigned to reincarnation, and abandoned on the path of Death.
ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਜੁਤੇ ॥
kītā pāin āpanā dukh sētī jutē .
They receive the consequences of their own actions, and are yoked to their pain.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਐ ਸਭ ਮੰਦੀ ਰੁਤੇ ॥੧੨॥
nānak nāi visāriai sabh mandī rutē .12.
O Nanak, if one forgets the Name, all the seasons are evil. ||12||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਏ ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਚਿਤਿ ॥
nānak āē sē paravān hai jin har vuthā chit .
O Nanak, approved is the birth of those, within whose consciousness the Lord abides.
ਗਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਅਲ ਪਲਾਲੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਮਿਤ ॥੧॥
gālhī al palālīā kanm n āvah mit .1.
Useless talk and babbling is useless, my friend. ||1||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਆਇਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਗਮ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
pārabraham prabh drisatī āiā pūran agam bisamād .
I have come to see the Supreme Lord God, the Perfect, Inaccessible, Wonderful Lord.
