Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨੈਣੀ ਸੁਖੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਭੁਖ ॥
antar chintā nainī sukhī mūl n utarai bhukh .
He harbors anxiety within himself, but to the eyes, he appears to be happy; his hunger never departs.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਲਥੋ ਦੁਖੁ ॥੧॥
nānak sachē nām bin kisai n lathō dukh .1.
O Nanak, without the True Name, no one's sorrows have ever departed. ||1||

mah 5 .
Fifth Mehl:
ਮੁਠੜੇ ਸੇਈ ਸਾਥ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਲਦਿਆ ॥
mutharē sēī sāth jinī sach n ladiā .
Those caravans which did not load the Truth have been plundered.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਇਕੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
nānak sē sābās jinī gur mil ik pashāniā .2.
O Nanak, those who meet the True Guru, and acknowledge the One Lord, are congratulated. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਥੈ ਬੈਸਨਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹੰਦਾ ॥
jithai baisan sādh jan sō thān suhandā .
Beautiful is that place, where the Holy people dwell.
ਓਇ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਿਥੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭੁ ਮੰਦਾ ॥
ōi sēvan sanmrith āpanā binasai sabh mandā .
They serve their All-powerful Lord, and they give up all their evil ways.
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੰਤ ਬੇਦੁ ਕਹੰਦਾ ॥
patit udhāran pārabraham sant bēd kahandā .
The Saints and the Vedas proclaim, that the Supreme Lord God is the Saving Grace of sinners.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਹੈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਵਰਤੰਦਾ ॥
bhagat vashal tērā birad hai jug jug varatandā .
You are the Lover of Your devotees - this is Your natural way, in each and every age.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ॥੫॥
nānak jāchai ēk nām man tan bhāvandā .5.
Nanak asks for the One Name, which is pleasing to his mind and body. ||5||
