ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥
salōk mah 3 .
Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥
jin gur gōpiā āpanā tis thaur n thāu .
Those who do not affirm their Guru shall have no home or place of rest.
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੋਵੈ ਗਏ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
halat palat dōvai gaē daragah nāhī thāu .
They lose both this world and the next; they have no place in the Court of the Lord.
ਓਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਗਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
ōh vēlā hath n āvaī phir satigur lagah pāi .
This opportunity to bow at the Feet of the True Guru shall never come again.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਣਤੈ ਘੁਸੀਐ ਦੁਖੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
satigur kī ganatai ghusīai dukhē dukh vihāi .
If they miss out on being counted by the True Guru, they shall pass their lives in pain and misery.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
satigur purakh niravair hai āpē laē jis lāi .
The True Guru, the Primal Being, has no hatred or vengeance; He unites with Himself those with whom He is pleased.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਓਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥
nānak darasan jinā vēkhāliōn tinā daragah laē shadāi .1.
O Nanak, those who behold the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, are emancipated in the Court of the Lord. ||1||

mah 3 .
Third Mehl:
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
manamukh agiān duramat ahankārī .
The self-willed manmukh is ignorant, evil-minded and egotistical.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਜੂਐ ਮਤਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
antar krōdh jūai mat hārī .
He is filled with anger within, and he loses his mind in the gamble.
ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
kūr kusat ōh pāp kamāvai .
He commits the sins of fraud and unrighteousness.
ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਿਆ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
kiā ōh sunai kiā ākh sunāvai .
What can he hear, and what can he tell others?
ਅੰਨਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਖੁਇ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
annā bōlā khui ujhar pāi .
He is blind and deaf; he loses his way, and wanders lost in the wilderness.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
manamukh andhā āvai jāi .
The blind, self-willed manmukh comes and goes in reincarnation;
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
bin satigur bhētē thāi n pāi .
without meeting the True Guru, he finds no place of rest.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak pūrab likhiā kamāi .2.
O Nanak, he acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਿਤ ਕਠੋਰ ਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਬਹਹਿ ਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jin kē chit kathōr hah sē bahah n satigur pās .
Those who have hearts as hard as stone, do not sit near the True Guru.
ਓਥੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਚਿਤ ਉਦਾਸਿ ॥
ōthai sach varatadā kūriārā chit udās .
Truth prevails there; the false ones do not attune their consciousness to it.
ਓਇ ਵਲੁ ਛਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਝਤਿ ਕਢਦੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹਹਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
ōi val shal kar jhat kadhadē phir jāi bahah kūriārā pās .
By hook or by crook, they pass their time, and then they go back to sit with the false ones again.
ਵਿਚਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਗਡਈ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ॥
vich sachē kūr n gadaī man vēkhah kō nirajās .
Falsehood does not mix with the Truth; O people, check it out and see.
ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨੬॥
kūriār kūriārī jāi ralē sachiār sikh baithē satigur pās .26.
The false go and mingle with the false, while the truthful Sikhs sit by the side of the True Guru. ||26||
