Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਸਾਕਤ ਜਾਇ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਮਨਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਕੂੜਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
sākat jāi nivah gur āgai man khōtē kūr kūriārē .
The faithless cynics go and bow before the Guru, but their minds are corrupt and false, totally false.
ਜਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਉਠਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਘੁਸਰਿ ਬਗੁਲਾਰੇ ॥
jā gur kahai uthah mērē bhāī bah jāh ghusar bagulārē .
When the Guru says, "Rise up, my Siblings of Destiny", they sit down, crowded in like cranes.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਕਢੇ ਲਧੋਵਾਰੇ ॥
gurasikhā andar satigur varatai chun kadhē ladhōvārē .
The True Guru prevails among His GurSikhs; they pick out and expel the wanderers.
ਓਇ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਬਹਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਛਪਾਇਨਿ ਨ ਰਲਨੀ ਖੋਟੇਆਰੇ ॥
ōi agai pishai bah muh shapāin n ralanī khōtēārē .
Sitting here and there, they hide their faces; being counterfeit, they cannot mix with the genuine.
ਓਨਾ ਦਾ ਭਖੁ ਸੁ ਓਥੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਕੂੜੁ ਲਹਨਿ ਭੇਡਾਰੇ ॥
ōnā dā bhakh s ōthai nāhī jāi kūr lahan bhēdārē .
There is no food for them there; the false go into the filth like sheep.
ਜੇ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਨਰੁ ਖਾਵਾਈਐ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਕਢੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਉਗਲਾਰੇ ॥
jē sākat nar khāvāīai lōchīai bikh kadhai mukh ugalārē .
If you try to feed the faithless cynic, he will spit out poison from his mouth.
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੇਤੀ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਓਇ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
har sākat sētī sang n karīah ōi mārē sirajanahārē .
O Lord, let me not be in the company of the faithless cynic, who is cursed by the Creator Lord.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jis kā ih khēl sōī kar vēkhai jan nānak nām samārē .1.
This drama belongs to the Lord; He performs it, and He watches over it. Servant Nanak cherishes the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
satigur purakh aganm hai jis andar har ur dhāriā .
The True Guru, the Primal Being, is inaccessible; He has enshrined the Lord's Name within His heart.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੋ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਲਿ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
satigurū nō apar kōi n sakaī jis val sirajanahāriā .
No one can equal the True Guru; the Creator Lord is on His side.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਖੜਗੁ ਸੰਜੋਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰਿਆ ॥
satigurū kā kharag sanjōu har bhagat hai jit kāl kantak mār vidāriā .
Devotional worship of the Lord is the sword and armor of the True Guru; He has killed and cast out Death, the torturer.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਆ ॥
satigurū kā rakhanahārā har āp hai satigurū kai pishai har sabh ubāriā .
The Lord Himself is the Protector of the True Guru. The Lord saves all those who follow in the footsteps of the True Guru.
ਜੋ ਮੰਦਾ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰੈ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
jō mandā chitavai pūrē satigurū kā sō āp upāvanahārai māriā .
One who thinks evil of the Perfect True Guru - the Creator Lord Himself destroys him.
ਏਹ ਗਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਗਮੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
ēh gal hōvai har daragah sachē kī jan nānak agam vīchāriā .2.
These words will be confirmed as true in the Court of the Lord; servant Nanak reveals this mystery. ||2||

Pauree:
ਸਚੁ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਜਾ ਉਠੇ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚਵੇ ॥
sach sutiā jinī arādhiā jā uthē tā sach chavē .
Those who dwell upon the True Lord while asleep, utter the True Name when they are awake.
ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਰਵੇ ॥
sē viralē jug mah jānīah jō guramukh sach ravē .
How rare in the world are those Gurmukhs who dwell upon the True Lord.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਵੇ ॥
hau balihārī tin kau j anadin sach lavē .
I am a sacrifice to those who chant the True Name, night and day.
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਸੇ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥
jin man tan sachā bhāvadā sē sachī daragah gavē .
The True Lord is pleasing to their minds and bodies; they go to the Court of the True Lord.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਵੇ ॥੨੧॥
jan nānak bōlai sach nām sach sachā sadā navē .21.
Servant Nanak chants the True Name; truly, the True Lord is forever brand new. ||21||
