salōk mah 4 .
Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਮਰਥਲ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਸੂਲੀਆ ॥
jinā andar umarathal sēī jānan sūlīā .
Those who have a festering boil within - they alone know its pain.
ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੋਲੀਆ ॥
har jānah sēī birah hau tin vitah sad ghum ghōlīā .
Those who know the pain of separation from the Lord - I am forever a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਤਲ ਰੋਲੀਆ ॥
har mēlah sajan purakh mērā sir tin vitah tal rōlīā .
O Lord, please lead me to meet the Guru, the Primal Being, my Friend; my head shall roll in the dust under His feet.
ਜੋ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਗੁਲਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਗੋਲੀਆ ॥
jō sikh gur kār kamāvah hau gulam tinā kā gōlīā .
I am the slave of the slaves of those GurSikhs who serve Him.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਭਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚੋਲੀਆ ॥
har rang chalūlai jō ratē tin bhinī har rang chōlīā .
Those who are imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love - their robes are drenched in the Love of the Lord.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਵੇਚਿਆ ਮੋਲੀਆ ॥੧॥
kar kirapā nānak mēl gur pah sir vēchiā mōlīā .1.
Grant Your Grace, and lead Nanak to meet the Guru; I have sold my head to Him. ||1||

mah 4 .
Fourth Mehl:
ਅਉਗਣੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
auganī bhariā sarīr hai kiu santah niramal hōi .
The body is full of mistakes and misdeeds; how can it become pure, O Saints?
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਵੇਹਾਝੀਅਹਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਢੈ ਧੋਇ ॥
guramukh gun vēhājhīah mal haumai kadhai dhōi .
The Gurmukh purchases virtues, which wash off the sin of egotism.
ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
sach vananjah rang siu sach saudā hōi .
True is the trade which purchases the True Lord with love.
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
tōtā mūl n āvaī lāhā har bhāvai sōi .
No loss will come from this, and the profit comes by the Lord's Will.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
nānak tin sach vananjiā jinā dhur likhiā parāpat hōi .2.
O Nanak, they alone purchase the Truth, who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny. ||2||

Pauree:
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ॥
sālāhī sach sālāhanā sach sachā purakh nirālē .
I praise the True One, who alone is worthy of praise. The True Primal Being is True - this is His unique quality.
ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ॥
sach sēvī sach man vasai sach sachā har rakhavālē .
Serving the True Lord, the Truth comes to dwell in the mind. The Lord, the Truest of the True, is my Protector.
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
sach sachā jinī arādhiā sē jāi ralē sach nālē .
Those who worship and adore the Truest of the True, shall go and merge with the True Lord.
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥
sach sachā jinī n sēviā sē manamukh mūr bētālē .
Those who do not serve the Truest of the True - those self-willed manmukhs are foolish demons.
ਓਹ ਆਲੁ ਪਤਾਲੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਦਿ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ॥੧੯॥
ōh āl patāl muhah bōladē jiu pītai mad matavālē .19.
With their mouths, they babble on about this and that, like the drunkard who has drunk his wine. ||19||
