ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਘਾਲਨਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਨ ਲਭਨੀ ਕਿਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਭਾਲੇ ॥
sachiār sikh bah satigur pās ghālan kūriār n labhanī kitai thāi bhālē .
The truthful Sikhs sit by the True Guru's side and serve Him. The false ones search, but find no place of rest.
ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਮੁਹ ਭਲੇਰੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਦਯਿ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
jinā satigur kā ākhiā sukhāvai nāhī tinā muh bhalērē phirah day gālē .
Those who are not pleased with the Words of the True Guru - their faces are cursed, and they wander around, condemned by God.
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਸੇ ਕਿਚਰਕੁ ਵੇਰਾਈਅਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥
jin andar prīt nahī har kērī sē kicharak vērāīan manamukh bētālē .
Those who do not have the Love of the Lord within their hearts - how long can those demonic, self-willed manmukhs be consoled?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਥਾਇ ਰਖੈ ਓਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
satigur nō milai s āpanā man thāi rakhai ōh āp varatai āpanī vath nālē .
One who meets the True Guru, keeps his mind in its own place; he spends only his own assets.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੈ ਠਗਵਾਲੇ ॥੧॥
jan nānak ikanā gur mēl sukh dēvai ik āpē vakh kadhai thagavālē .1.
O servant Nanak, some are united with the Guru; to some, the Lord grants peace, while others - deceitful cheats - suffer in isolation. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਦਯਿ ਆਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
jinā andar nām nidhān har tin kē kāj day ādē rās .
Those who have the treasure of the Lord's Name deep within their hearts - the Lord resolves their affairs.
ਤਿਨ ਚੂਕੀ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
tin chūkī muhatājī lōkan kī har prabh ang kar baithā pās .
They are no longer subservient to other people; the Lord God sits by them, at their side.
ਜਾਂ ਕਰਤਾ ਵਲਿ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਲਿ ਸਭਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
jānh karatā val tā sabh kō val sabh darasan dēkh karah sābās .
When the Creator is on their side, then everyone is on their side. Beholding their vision, everyone applauds them.
ਸਾਹੁ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਆਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥
sāh pātisāh sabh har kā kīā sabh jan kau āi karah raharās .
Kings and emperors are all created by the Lord; they all come and bow in reverence to the Lord's humble servant.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਵਡਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gur pūrē kī vadī vadiāī har vadā sēv atul sukh pāiā .
Great is the greatness of the Perfect Guru. Serving the Great Lord, I have obtained immeasurable peace.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਤ ਬਖਸੇ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
gur pūrai dān dīā har nihachal nit bakhasē charai savāiā .
The Lord has bestowed this eternal gift upon the Perfect Guru; His blessings increase day by day.
ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸੋ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਪਚਾਇਆ ॥
kōī nindak vadiāī dēkh n sakai sō karatai āp pachāiā .
The slanderer, who cannot endure His greatness, is destroyed by the Creator Himself.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲੈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਭਗਤਾ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
jan nānak gun bōlai karatē kē bhagatā nō sadā rakhadā āiā .2.
Servant Nanak chants the Glorious Praises of the Creator, who protects His devotees forever. ||2||

ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਵਡ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਣਾ ॥
tū sāhib agam daiāl hai vad dātā dānā .
You, O Lord and Master, are inaccessible and merciful; You are the Great Giver, All-knowing.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋ ਦਿਸਿ ਨਾ ਆਵਈ ਤੂਹੈਂ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
tudh jēvad mai hōr kō dis nā āvaī tūhainh sughar mērai man bhānā .
I can see no other as great as You; O Lord of Wisdom, You are pleasing to my mind.
ਮੋਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਦਿਸਿ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਚਲਣਹਾਰਾ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
mōh kutanb dis āvadā sabh chalanahārā āvan jānā .
Emotional attachment to your family and everything you see is temporary, coming and going.
ਜੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਚੇ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦੇ ਸੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜਾ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਣਾ ॥
jō bin sachē hōrat chit lāidē sē kūriār kūrā tin mānā .
Those who attach their consciousness to anything except the True Lord are false, and false is their pride.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਚੇ ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਅਜਾਣਾ ॥੧੦॥
nānak sach dhiāi tū bin sachē pach pach muē ajānā .10.
O Nanak, meditate on the True Lord; without the True Lord, the ignorant rot away and putrefy to death. ||10||

Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਘਾਲੇ ॥
satigur kī sēvā niramalī niramal jan hōi s sēvā ghālē .
Service to the True Guru is immaculate and pure; those humble beings who are pure perform this service.
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਓਇ ਆਪੇ ਸਚੈ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੇ ਜਜਮਾਲੇ ॥
jin andar kapat vikār jhūth ōi āpē sachai vakh kadhē jajamālē .
Those who have deceit, corruption and falsehood within - the True Lord Himself casts them out like lepers.
