Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
har sat niranjan amar hai nirabhau niravair nirankār .
The Lord is true, immaculate and eternal; He has no fear, hatred or form.
ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਲਥਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
jin japiā ik man ik chit tin lathā haumai bhār .
Those who chant and meditate on Him, who single-mindedly focus their consciousness on Him, are rid of the burden of their ego.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
jin guramukh har ārādhiā tin sant janā jaikār .
Those Gurmukhs who worship and adore the Lord - hail to those Saintly beings!
ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਫਿਟੁ ਫਿਟੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
kōī nindā karē pūrē satigurū kī tis nō phit phit kahai sabh sansār .
If someone slanders the Perfect True Guru, he will be rebuked and reproached by the whole world.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
satigur vich āp varatadā har āpē rakhanahār .
The Lord Himself abides within the True Guru; He Himself is His Protector.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਦਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥
dhan dhann gurū gun gāvadā tis nō sadā sadā namasakār .
Blessed, Blessed is the Guru, who sings the Glories of God. Unto Him, I bow forever and ever in deepest reverence.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jan nānak tin kau vāriā jin japiā sirajanahār .1.
Servant Nanak is a sacrifice to those who have meditated on the Creator Lord. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
āpē dharatī sājīan āpē ākās .
He Himself made the earth; He Himself made the sky.
ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਗਿਰਾਸੁ ॥
vich āpē jant upāian mukh āpē dēi girās .
He Himself created the beings there, and He Himself places food in their mouths.
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
sabh āpē āp varatadā āpē hī gunatās .
He Himself is All-pervading; He Himself is the Treasure of Excellence.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਟੇ ਤਾਸੁ ॥੨॥
jan nānak nām dhiāi tū sabh kilavikh katē tās .2.
O servant Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He shall take away all your sinful mistakes. ||2||

Pauree:
ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
tū sachā sāhib sach hai sach sachē bhāvai .
You, O True Lord and Master, are True; the Truth is pleasing to the True One.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
jō tudh sach salāhadē tin jam kankar nēr n āvai .
The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who praise You, O True Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਦਰਿ ਉਜਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
tin kē mukh dar ujalē jin har hiradai sachā bhāvai .
Their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord; the Lord is pleasing to their hearts.
ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਪਿਛਾਹਾ ਸਟੀਅਨਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਪਟੁ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
kūriār pishāhā satīan kūr hiradai kapat mahā dukh pāvai .
The false ones are left behind; because of the falsehood and deceit in their hearts, they suffer in terrible pain.
ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀਆ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜੋ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
muh kālē kūriārīā kūriār kūrō hōi jāvai .6.
Black are the faces of the false; the false remain just false. ||6||
