ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਹਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੪॥

O Nanak, the Lord God unites him with Himself. ||4||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
sādhasang mil karah anand .
Join the Company of the Holy, and be happy.
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥
gun gāvah prabh paramānand .
Sing the Glories of God, the embodiment of supreme bliss.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
rām nām tat karah bīchār .
Contemplate the essence of the Lord's Name.
ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
drulabh dēh kā karah udhār .
Redeem this human body, so difficult to obtain.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
anmrit bachan har kē gun gāu .
Sing the Ambrosial Words of the Lord's Glorious Praises;
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਰਨ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
prān taran kā ihai suāu .
this is the way to save your mortal soul.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਹੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
āth pahar prabh pēkhah nērā .
Behold God near at hand, twenty-four hours a day.
ਮਿਟੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
mitai agiān binasai andhērā .
Ignorance shall depart, and darkness shall be dispelled.
ਸੁਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵਹੁ ॥
sun upadēs hiradai basāvah .
Listen to the Teachings, and enshrine them in your heart.
ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੫॥
man ishē nānak phal pāvah .5.
O Nanak, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||5||
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੁਇ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
halat palat dui lēh savār .
Embellish both this world and the next;
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
rām nām antar ur dhār .
enshrine the Lord's Name deep within your heart.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੀਖਿਆ ॥
pūrē gur kī pūrī dīkhiā .
Perfect are the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ॥
jis man basai tis sāch parīkhiā .
That person, within whose mind it abides, realizes the Truth.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
man tan nām japah liv lāi .
With your mind and body, chant the Naam; lovingly attune yourself to it.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤਣਹਾਰ ॥
jī jant kē thākurā āpē varatanahār .
O Lord and Master of all beings and creatures, You Yourself are prevailing everywhere.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
dūkh darad man tē bhau jāi .
Sorrow, pain and fear shall depart from your mind.
ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ॥
sach vāpār karah vāpārī .
Deal in the true trade, O trader,
ਦਰਗਹ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਖੇਪ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
daragah nibahai khēp tumārī .
and your merchandise shall be safe in the Court of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰ ॥੧॥
nānak ēkō pasariā dūjā kah drisatār .1.
O Nanak, The One is All-pervading; where is any other to be seen? ||1||

ਆਪਿ ਕਥੈ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਨਨੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
āp kathai āp sunanaihār .
He Himself is the speaker, and He Himself is the listener.
ਏਕਾ ਟੇਕ ਰਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ēkā tēk rakhah man māh .
Keep the Support of the One in your mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੬॥
nānak bahur n āvah jāh .6.
O Nanak, you shall not have to come and go in reincarnation again. ||6||
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis tē dūr kahā kō jāi .
Where can anyone go, to get away from Him?
ਆਪਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
āpah ēk āp bisathār .
He Himself is the One, and He Himself is the many.
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
jā tis bhāvai tā srisat upāē .
When it pleases Him, He creates the world.
ਆਪਨੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਲਏ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
āpanai bhānai laē samāē .
As He pleases, He absorbs it back into Himself.
ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਭਿੰਨ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tum tē bhinn nahī kish hōi .
Without You, nothing can be done.
ਉਬਰੈ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
ubarai rākhanahār dhiāi .
Meditating on the Protector Lord, you shall be saved.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਪੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟੈ ॥
nirabhau japai sagal bhau mitai .
Meditating on the Fearless Lord, all fear departs.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਛੁਟੈ ॥
prabh kirapā tē prānī shutai .
By God's Grace, mortals are released.
ਆਪਨ ਸੂਤਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
āpan sūt sabh jagat parōi .
Upon Your thread, You have strung the whole world.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
jā kau prabh jīu āp bujhāē .
One whom God Himself inspires to understand
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
sach nām sōī jan pāē .
- that person obtains the True Name.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਖ ॥
jis prabh rākhai tis nāhī dūkh .
One who is protected by God never suffers in pain.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਖ ॥
nām japat man hōvat sūkh .
Chanting the Naam, the mind becomes peaceful.
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
chintā jāi mitai ahankār .
Anxiety departs, and ego is eliminated.
ਸੋ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ ॥
sō samadarasī tat kā bētā .
He looks impartially upon all, and he knows the essential reality.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਜੇਤਾ ॥੧॥
nānak sagal srisat kā jētā .1.
O Nanak, he conquers the whole world. ||1||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥ ॥
jī jantr sabh tā kai hāth .
All beings and creatures are in His Hands.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
tis jan kau kōi n pahuchanahār .
No one can equal that humble servant.
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਠਾਢਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
sir ūpar thādhā gur sūrā .
The Brave and Powerful Guru stands over his head.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੭॥
nānak tā kē kāraj pūrā .7.
O Nanak, his efforts are fulfilled. ||7||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥੁ ॥
dīn daiāl anāth kō nāth .
He is Merciful to the meek, the Patron of the patronless.
ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
jis rākhai tis kōi n mārai .
No one can kill those who are protected by Him.
ਸੋ ਮੂਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੈ ॥
sō mūā jis manah bisārai .
One who is forgotten by God, is already dead.
ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
mat pūrī anmrit jā kī drisat .
His wisdom is perfect, and His Glance is Ambrosial.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਉਧਰਤ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
darasan pēkhat udharat srisat .
Beholding His Vision, the universe is saved.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
charan kamal jā kē anūp .
His Lotus Feet are incomparably beautiful.
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪ ॥
saphal darasan sundar har rūp .
The Blessed Vision of His Darshan is fruitful and rewarding; His Lordly Form is beautiful.
ਤਿਸੁ ਤਜਿ ਅਵਰ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis taj avar kahā kō jāi .
Leaving Him, where else could anyone go?
ਸਭ ਸਿਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਰਾਇ ॥
sabh sir ēk niranjan rāi .
Over the heads of all is the One, the Immaculate King.
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
jī kī jugat jā kai sabh hāth .
The ways and means of all beings are in His Hands.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
dhann sēvā sēvak paravān .
Blessed is His service; His servant is famous.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
antarajāmī purakh pradhān .
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is the most exalted Supreme Being.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
jis man basai s hōt nihāl .
That one, within whose mind He abides, is blissfully happy.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਸਾਥਿ ॥
antar bāhar jānah sāth .
Inwardly and outwardly, know that He is with you.
ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
gun nidhān bēant apār .
He is the Ocean of excellence, infinite and endless.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
nānak dās sadā balihār .2.
Slave Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਲੁ ॥
tā kai nikat n āvat kāl .
Death does not draw near him.
ਅਮਰ ਭਏ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
amar bhaē amarā pad pāiā .
One becomes immortal, and obtains the immortal status,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੮॥੨੨॥
sādhasang nānak har dhiāiā .8.22.
meditating on the Lord, O Nanak, in the Company of the Holy. ||8||22||
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
pūran pūr rahē daiāl .
The Perfect, Merciful Lord is pervading everywhere.
ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
sabh ūpar hōvat kirapāl .
His kindness extends to all.
ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਜਾਨੈ ਆਪਿ ॥
apanē karatab jānai āp .
He Himself knows His own ways.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥
antarajāmī rahiō biāp .
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is present everywhere.
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਜੀਅਨ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
pratipālai jīan bah bhāt .
He cherishes His living beings in so many ways.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਰਚਿਓ ਸੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਤਿ ॥
jō jō rachiō s tisah dhiāt .
That which He has created meditates on Him.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
jis bhāvai tis laē milāi .
Whoever pleases Him, He blends into Himself.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
bhagat karah har kē gun gāi .
They perform His devotional service and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
man antar bisvās kar māniā .
With heart-felt faith, they believe in Him.
ਕਰਨਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥
karanahār nānak ik jāniā .3.
O Nanak, they realize the One, the Creator Lord. ||3||
ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੈ ਨਾਇ ॥
jan lāgā har ēkai nāi .
The Lord's humble servant is committed to His Name.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਨ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis kī ās n birathī jāi .
His hopes do not go in vain.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
sēvak kau sēvā ban āī .
The servant's purpose is to serve;
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
hukam būjh param pad pāī .
obeying the Lord's Command, the supreme status is obtained.
ਇਸ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
is tē ūpar nahī bīchār .
Beyond this, he has no other thought.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
jā kai man basiā nirankār .
Within his mind, the Formless Lord abides.
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋਰਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ॥
bandhan tōr bhaē niravair .
His bonds are cut away, and he becomes free of hatred.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ॥
anadin pūjah gur kē pair .
Night and day, he worships the Feet of the Guru.
ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
ih lōk sukhīē paralōk suhēlē .
He is at peace in this world, and happy in the next.
