ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
ant nahī kish pārāvārā .
He has no end or limitation.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਧਰ ਰਹਾਵੈ ॥
hukamē dhār adhar rahāvai .
By His Order, He established the earth, and He maintains it unsupported.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
hukamē upajai hukam samāvai .
By His Order, the world was created; by His Order, it shall merge again into Him.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
hukamē ūch nīch biuhār .
By His Order, one's occupation is high or low.
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਜਿਉ ਸ੍ਵਾਗੀ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ॥
nānā rūp jiu svāgī dikhāvai .
In various costumes, like actors, they appear.
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਨਚਾਵੈ ॥
jiu prabh bhāvai tivai nachāvai .
As it pleases God, they dance.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਇ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sōī hōi .
Whatever pleases Him, comes to pass.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥
hukamē anik rang parakār .
By His Order, there are so many colors and forms.
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
kar kar dēkhai apanī vadiāī .
Having created the Creation, He beholds His own greatness.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
nānak sabh mah rahiā samāī .1.
O Nanak, He is pervading in all. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੭॥
nānak dūjā avar n kōi .7.
O Nanak, there is no other at all. ||7||
ਕਬਹੂ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
kabahū sādhasangat ih pāvai .
Sometimes, this being attains the Company of the Holy.
ਉਸੁ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
us asathān tē bahur n āvai .
From that place, he does not have to come back again.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
prabh bhāvai mānukh gat pāvai .
If it pleases God, one attains salvation.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥
prabh bhāvai tā pāthar tarāvai .
If it pleases God, then even stones can swim.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
prabh bhāvai bin sās tē rākhai .
If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
prabh bhāvai tā har gun bhākhai .
If it pleases God, then one chants the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਗਿਆਨ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
antar hōi giān paragās .
The light of spiritual wisdom dawns within.
ਉਸੁ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਕਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥
us asathān kā nahī binās .
That place does not perish.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਇਕ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
man tan nām ratē ik rang .
The mind and body are imbued with the Love of the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
prabh bhāvai tā patit udhārai .
If it pleases God, then even sinners are saved.
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਆਪਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
āp karai āpan bīchārai .
He Himself acts, and He Himself contemplates.
ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
duhā siriā kā āp suāmī .
He Himself is the Master of both worlds.
ਸਦਾ ਬਸਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
sadā basah pārabraham kai sang .
He dwells forever with the Supreme Lord God.
ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਲੁ ਆਇ ਖਟਾਨਾ ॥
jiu jal mah jal āi khatānā .
As water comes to blend with water,
ਤਿਉ ਜੋਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
tiu jōtī sang jōt samānā .
his light blends into the Light.
ਖੇਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
khēlai bigasai antarajāmī .
He plays and He enjoys; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥
jō bhāvai sō kār karāvai .
As He wills, He causes actions to be done.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
nānak drisatī avar n āvai .2.
Nanak sees no other than Him. ||2||
ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਗਵਨ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
mit gaē gavan pāē bisrām .
Reincarnation is ended, and eternal peace is found.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੮॥੧੧॥
nānak prabh kai sad kurabān .8.11.
Nanak is forever a sacrifice to God. ||8||11||
ਕਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈ ॥
kah mānukh tē kiā hōi āvai .
Tell me - what can a mere mortal do?
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sōī karāvai .
Whatever pleases God is what He causes us to do.
ਇਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
is kai hāth hōi tā sabh kish lēi .
If it were in our hands, we would grab up everything.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sōī karēi .
Whatever pleases God - that is what He does.
ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਚੈ ॥
anajānat bikhiā mah rachai .
Through ignorance, people are engrossed in corruption.
ਜੇ ਜਾਨਤ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਬਚੈ ॥
jē jānat āpan āp bachai .
If they knew better, they would save themselves.
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
bharamē bhūlā dah dis dhāvai .
Deluded by doubt, they wander around in the ten directions.
ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
nimakh māh chār kunt phir āvai .
In an instant, their minds go around the four corners of the world and come back again.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥
kar kirapā jis apanī bhagat dēi .
Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His devotional worship
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੇਇ ॥੩॥
nānak tē jan nām milēi .3.
- O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Naam. ||3||
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨੀਚ ਕੀਟ ਕਉ ਰਾਜ ॥
khin mah nīch kīt kau rāj .
In an instant, the lowly worm is transformed into a king.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥
pārabraham garīb nivāj .
The Supreme Lord God is the Protector of the humble.
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
jā kā drisat kashū n āvai .
Even one who has never been seen at all,
ਤਿਸੁ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥
tis tatakāl dah dis pragatāvai .
becomes instantly famous in the ten directions.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰੈ ਬਖਸੀਸ ॥
jā kau apunī karai bakhasīs .
And that one upon whom He bestows His blessings
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨ ਗਨੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ॥
tā kā lēkhā n ganai jagadīs .
- the Lord of the world does not hold Him to His account.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
jīu pind sabh tis kī rās .
Soul and body are all His property.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
ghat ghat pūran braham pragās .
Each and every heart is illuminated by the Perfect Lord God.
ਅਪਨੀ ਬਣਤ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
apanī banat āp banāī .
He Himself fashioned His own handiwork.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੪॥
nānak jīvai dēkh badāī .4.
Nanak lives by beholding His greatness. ||4||
ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਹਾਥ ॥
is kā bal nāhī is hāth .
There is no power in the hands of mortal beings;
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥
karan karāvan sarab kō nāth .
the Doer, the Cause of causes is the Lord of all.
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
āgiākārī bapurā jīu .
The helpless beings are subject to His Command.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਥੀਉ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sōī phun thīu .
That which pleases Him, ultimately comes to pass.
ਕਬਹੂ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਮਹਿ ਬਸੈ ॥
kabahū ūch nīch mah basai .
Sometimes, they abide in exaltation; sometimes, they are depressed.
ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਸੈ ॥
kabahū sōg harakh rang hasai .
Sometimes, they are sad, and sometimes they laugh with joy and delight.
ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
kabahū nind chind biuhār .
Sometimes, they are occupied with slander and anxiety.
ਕਬਹੂ ਊਭ ਅਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥
kabahū ūbh akās paiāl .
Sometimes, they are high in the Akaashic Ethers, sometimes in the nether regions of the underworld.
ਕਬਹੂ ਬੇਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
kabahū bētā braham bīchār .
Sometimes, they know the contemplation of God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੫॥
nānak āp milāvanahār .5.
O Nanak, God Himself unites them with Himself. ||5||
ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
kabahū nirat karai bah bhāt .
Sometimes, they dance in various ways.
ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
kabahū sōi rahai din rāt .
Sometimes, they remain asleep day and night.
ਕਬਹੂ ਮਹਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥
kabahū mahā krōdh bikarāl .
Sometimes, they are awesome, in terrible rage.
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਹੋਤ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
kabahūn sarab kī hōt ravāl .
Sometimes, they are the dust of the feet of all.
ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੈ ਬਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
kabahū hōi bahai bad rājā .
Sometimes, they sit as great kings.
ਕਬਹੁ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਨੀਚ ਕਾ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
kabah bhēkhārī nīch kā sājā .
Sometimes, they wear the coat of a lowly beggar.

ਕਬਹੂ ਅਪਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
kabahū apakīrat mah āvai .
Sometimes, they come to have evil reputations.
ਕਬਹੂ ਭਲਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
kabahū bhalā bhalā kahāvai .
Sometimes, they are known as very, very good.
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹੈ ॥
jiu prabh rākhai tiv hī rahai .
As God keeps them, so they remain.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ॥੬॥
gur prasād nānak sach kahai .6.
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, the Truth is told. ||6||
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
karan kāran prabh ēk hai dūsar nāhī kōi .
God alone is the Doer of deeds - there is no other at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
nānak tis balihāranai jal thal mahīal sōi .1.
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the One, who pervades the waters, the lands, the sky and all space. ||1||
ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਬਖ੍ਯਾਨੁ ॥
kabahū hōi pandit karē bakhyān .
Sometimes, as scholars, they deliver lectures.
ਕਬਹੂ ਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀ ਲਾਵੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
kabahū mōnidhārī lāvai dhiān .
Sometimes, they hold to silence in deep meditation.
ਕਬਹੂ ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥
kabahū tat tīrath isanān .
Sometimes, they take cleansing baths at places of pilgrimage.
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥
asatapadī .
Ashtapadee:
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
karan karāvan karanai jōg .
The Doer, the Cause of causes, is potent to do anything.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sōī hōg .
That which pleases Him, comes to pass.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
khin mah thāp uthāpanahārā .
In an instant, He creates and destroys.
ਕਬਹੂ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
kabahū sidh sādhik mukh giān .
Sometimes, as Siddhas or seekers, they impart spiritual wisdom.
ਕਬਹੂ ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਪਤੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਆ ॥
kabahū kīt hasat patang hōi jīā .
Sometimes, they becomes worms, elephants, or moths.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਰਮੈ ਭਰਮੀਆ ॥
anik jōn bharamai bharamīā .
They may wander and roam through countless incarnations.
